I want to do several simple tasks. Doing each separately is easy but when I put them together I don't know what to do. 1. Plot a graph of data from a DAQ. I can do this by using a Timer1_tick method and displaying the data on the linegraph as long as the timer is turned on. I've decided to stick with this method of acquisition. I want to acquire data for long periods of time (perhaps 3 hours) so a timer is pretty good. No problems here.
2. Apply a filter to remove noise from the plot dynamically as the data comes in so that I get a smooth curve instead of a jagged graph. I know I can do this with for loops if I'm using an array. But how do I do it since I'm using a timer? Here the problem begins.
3. Log every piece of the filtered data that the timer is getting to be exported to a CSV file. I learned how to do this with do loops but not with a timer or array. But I really need to use the timer this time.
4. Acquire statistics for the data like maximum value, minimum value, and average value dynamically as the data changes. I know how to do this with an array of data after all the data is acquired. But How do I do this with a timer while the data is still being collected?
5. Monitor the data coming in to execute an alarm (Or event, like stopping the acquisition) when the data coming in has plateaued and is constant (eg: The voltage I'm monitoring starts to become constant and becomes one constant value) - Ok I don't know anything about this.
6. Execute a mathematical operation on the data that has been acquired (post acquisition) like finding gradients and such. Basically this means "How do I now manipulate the data I have and where is this data stored?"
7. Know any good free linegraphs with autoscaling?

I lost the code to a program I made quite a while back so I was wondering if any one could help.I have a list box which has file locations loaded into it by the user..After they are loaded they click the merge button and it joins all the files loaded into the listbox into 1 exe..I have this code I upgraded from vb6. I think it is joining the files but only the first one in the list is opening when i run the new exe that is made when they are merged..[code]

ive been trying to get statusstrips merging so i can click a label to bring the child form to the front when i have multiple childforms open. I have this code which does work but on closing it leaves the label on the mdiparent and also im struggling with the bring back to front code. i dont want it to open another form just bring it back to front. how I can implement my calendar with VB .net express 2008 and MSSQL 2008 Express. How do I get it to work with datasets, binding source etc.If I go to Properties>settings my connection string is:

I can Add the event to the calendar I have the necessary items on my form linked to my table and I can save them to my table:

But I cant keep the event displayed on my calendar when I close it and open it again.
I get the feeling I am still using asp type scripting techniques in the script below instead of proper asp.net scripting...

I'm just using the default SQL Server Express in my vb 2008 express edition as my database server for my database operation. When I tried to update the records on my table I got a runtime error which indicates the error on this line 'myCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()'and it highlights a yellow background on it. The runtime error says "SqlException was unhandled: An expression of non-boolean type specified in a context where a condition is expected, near 'Number'. ".

I tried to start using VB 2010 Express with a program I originally developed with VB 2005 Express that I moved to VB 2008 Express successfully a couple years ago. It uses a database file (*.mdf) that is on the computer ( not out on a server). When attempt to run the program in debug mode, I get the following error "An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:Documents and SettingsTomMy DocumentsQuizzing StuffQuestion Database 2010QuizQuest ionGameQuizQuestionGameinReleaseQuizQuestionDB.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share."
I first made a copy of the entire project folder that was working in VB 2008 Express and gave it a different name. In VB2010 I opened the project in the copied folder and it said it successfully converted the project. I am able to open the Data Source inthe Designer and see the database structure as I expect. I think the project is still using SQL Server 2005 Express (because it is what is checked in the list of prerequisites on the Publish tab).
Note, I have programmed off and on for many years, but fairly new to using databases and SQL Server.

Plan is to host this server so people can login to use the the application and verify they have a valid account. I would like to host all the account information in SQL due to the possiblity of hundreds of users at any given time. I also need the ability to add data to the database for users registering for the first time. The SQL server will need to be able to access the SQL Server databases remote via WAN.

I have a database with several tables, which I created using the designer. I am able to connect to the database and select data and display it in textboxes etc in vb code. What I have not been able to in code is to INSERT rows DELETE rows or UPDATE any data in the tables. I can do any of these operations using the Query Designer, but I want to do it in code. I can post some code if necessiary, but I thought it might just be some property that I had not set in the designer.

View 1 Repliesso i have a class called FOOTBALL,then another 3 classes/forms that inherit FOOTBALL, they control score (SCOREBOX), possession (POSSBOX), and quarter (QUARTERBOX).the FOOTBALL class has 4 variables, "score" (array of 2 ints), "teams" (array of 2 strings), "possession" (boolean), and "quarter" (int)after that i have another form called MAINBOX, which creates new instances of the 3 classes (SCOREBOX, POSSBOX, and QUARTERBOX) (like this: private scoring = new SCOREBOX)... however they all technically create their own FOOTBALL classes, so I cannot connect them.

View 1 RepliesOk, I've researched for hours about classes, creating classes, creating obj's of that class, but every tutorial I've seen has either talking about things that are different from what I'm doing, or they were written with the assumption that I understand X or Y. What I want seems simple enough but it's just not clicking. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:
1. Player chooses from a list of characters
2. That character has specific attributes (power level, experience points, ect..)
3. When entering the combat page, the specific attributes are displayed in text boxes
with respective labels.
4. When battle is over, experience points are handed out and saved in player class.

Both software have been installed and running locally. I'm trying to connect to the database from VB 2008 Express. Database connection wizard have 3 options:

When I select add new data source from VB I don't have the option to connect to SQL Server 2008 express to get at the to SQL Server Database. I also notice that the OLE DB connector is not availble as a data connector. Can somebody please confirm that VB 2008 Express can connect directly to SQL Server 2008 Express and how I can achieve it.
