I have got some code that is working as i have edited the game.exe at a certain address, now i know the code can find the address, but I don't know how to make it stop searching for it if it isn't there.

So what I want to know, is how to stop this code, if the address doesn't exist.
I need to make a program for my school (I`m the principal), that reads the text in the memory address of the program and write it down in a txt. I already have the address numbers. For more information, I use VS 2008.
I was trying to make one code to get the memory address. So, after I succeed this, I'll make the correct program.

Ive basically got 2 problems I need to solve.1) I am trying to determine if a certain process is running on the user's machine at the same time as my program.2) I am also then,if the process is running, trying to edit a specific memory addresses value. When I go to "new project" and choose "Windows Form Application" I get this error.I have tried multiple uninstall/reinstall with no result.A microsoft reply to this suggested that I needed: " .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 " I checked, and I did not have the .netframework 2.0 service Pack 1.
When I tried to download and install the above from Microsoft.com, the istaller said that "it was not allowsed" and I was not able to install the service pack 1.
I tried Uninstalling net framework 3.5, 3.0, 2.0 and then reinstalling .netframework 2.0 sevice pack 1; then reinstalling Visual basic 2008 express edition. At the reinstall of Visual basic 2008, .netframework 2.0 sevice pack 1 is unistalled by .net framework service pack 2.When I check the foruims for simiar problems, the formus are mostly for Visual basic 5.0, or other programs that I do not have.

Is there a way to get my own process' memory range? For example, I want to read all memory of my own process:

But I always get an AccessViolationException, because, of course, I'm using IntPtr.Zero instread of my own address and 1000 instead of my own memory size. Is there a way to get these?
I have prided myself in having a pretty clean code however in the game I am making I have a player view (showscreen) and a host view, which is a copy of the player view (on a smaller screen). This way the host can see what's going on.The problem is that the graphic doesn't dispose properly and Garbage Collector gets it, though I have noticed it will crash if GC doesn't get it in time. The larger the showscreen window the more junk gets put into memory, which sucks.I thought I had everything correctly disposed below but still doesn't get the job done.

how to read memory with VB. I want to start with Basic Mind Sweeper game. In mind sweeper if you set default greed/field (9 by 9) you can find all mines location of in memory from Address 01005360 to 01005468. Hex dumb 8F represents a mine. write a program in VB.Net 2008 that will display Hex Dumb of address 01005360 and 01005368 for mind Sweepers . Im getting a problem with one of my programs I have made in visual basic.NET where it gives me a memory error when i debug the program in the IDE. the exact error is this: "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt". My program basically has a few forms with text fields on that get their text values from an access database on the same hard drive. Im wondering if im doing something wrong because my program just seems to eat up memory whenever it does anything. For example I have one form that has a combobox on it and when you change the drop down list selection it retreives a few strings from the database and puts them into the relevant text boxes, if you keep changing the selection then the memory usage (in task manager) just keeps going up and up. occasionally I get the error mentioned above when debugging but in my built version of the program it throws an exception everytime the memory usage gets past 49K.
Also I noticed when debugging in the "immediate window" frame I get the following message often:A first chance exception of type 'System. Invalid OperationException' occurred in System.Data.dll...Do I need to somehow be "releasing" the memory that is used to gather data once it becomes redundant?

Im designing a web browser and i continue to receive this error after going to about 3 websites it crashes with that error.
I have two forms, Form1 and Form2. Form2 has a button to show OpenFileDialog. I call Form2 from Form1 by a button. My startUp Form is Form1. When i start debugging, i press my Form1's button to show my Form2, it shows, but when i click On Form2's Button to show OpenFileDialog it is giving me exception that

When i set my startup Form to Form2 and click Form2's Button to show OpenFileDialog then it shows!

when people first run my program (as in the FIRST EVER time they run it), I want a window to popup (Form4). In this Form you have to locate a directory to a certain program (my program uses this program) and press OK, and then that will generate a .txt file with the directory to the program. (So that my program knows where that program is located.) Now, what I want it to do is when you open up the program, upon load (Form1), I want the program to check if that text file (directory.txt) exists. If it does and the path in the file is correct, the program will run fine. If the text file is missing and/or the directory doesn't exist, it will bring you back to Form4 (assuming that this is your first time running the program since the directory.txt file doesn't exist).

I am trying to add a registry key in to the file "MyApp" which doesn't yet exist in the registry key directory, when I try and write this key however I get an error from the debug console telling me the "NullReference was unhanded". If I go and manually make this folder it works brilliantly, I thought that this code would make the folder as well?

What i need is, if a item in a listbox Doesn't exist, it needs to remove it from the other.
In the pic i have attached. Basically If it doesn't exist in Listbox2 then it needs to be removed from Listbox1 and tell the user which one has been removed.
i.e Test 02 doesn't exist. So messagebox would show "test02 has been removed" then remove it from listbox 1

I am trying to use a .dll in .Net that was written in C++ and was previously used in a VB6 application. I get the error mentioned above. I see lots of posts referring to how VB6's long data type is different in .Net but these fuctions use only integers and strings. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this?

I am working on an application that starts a few threads every second. The threads don't do much, and everything seemed fine. I monitor the number of threads running, and I have never seen it higher than 4.
Last night I started the app and this morning I had this.
System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
The threads can make changes to two List(of Strings) and I had SyncLock's surrounding the code that did that. It has been running for several hours again and all seems well.
My question is that I found a place in the UI thread that was copying the list without the lock. Could that have caused the error?

I want to be able to read and write the process memory of Firefox for a game on facebook(It's kind of like cheating only you can't cheat, nothing stays permanent.) this is just for fun. The game is called happy fish aquarium and you raise fish in the game and it's just really addicting. I found a program that reads process memory and lets me change certain values in happy fish aquarium so I can make my fish tank look different or whatever. But if I reload the page it will of course go back to the original state because the fish tank's memory is held online. The point is, I just want to make a program that can read the process memory from Firefox from a certain range and bytes. like 4 bytes and a range of 00400000 to 7FFFFFFF. Does anyone know how I can achieve this? Please note, this is not for cheating purposes in any way whatsoever, it's simply for visual fun(visual meaning only I can see it). What I want to do is the same as using the add-on firebug in firefox to change the html on a webpage.

View 1 RepliesI'm copying code from one VB project to another PC but the 'datagrid' on the copy insn't inserting into the new PC. When the form loads the datagrid is missing. The error I got was that there was something missing from the machine. When I tried to add the datagrid using the 'Additional Controls' it doesn't seem to exist. Any chance I can download the control? The version of VB is 6.5 and its part of a graphics package I'm using.
