In VB 2008, I have a Parent form with a combo box on it. There is a child form also with a combo box on it. I want to be able to change the values on the child form based on what the user selected from the main form. The user launches the child form from a toolbar on the Parent form. The following code is run:
[Code]...
What I want to do is if the Parent's combo box has "Red", "Blue", "Green" values and the user selects "Green", the child form's combo box(With the same values) will also change to "Green". (I do not need to change the Parent form if the child form changes.) I've tried changing the Child's combobox from the combobox's change event on the Parent form, and the code runs, but nothing changes on the child form.
which way do you think is best? Using connection As New OleDb.OleDbConnection(My.Settings.CustomerConnectionString & My.Settings.CustomerDatabasePath) Using command As New OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT [customer] FROM [tblCustomers] ORDER BY [customer] ASC", connection) connection.Open() Using reader As OleDb.OleDbDataReader = command.ExecuteReader()
I have 3 combo boxes on a form. They are all going to load the same list. This list is in a database. My first thought was to attach the list to the combo boxes as a datasource. That would require me to create the datasource 3 times to load the same list. To me that seems terribly inefficient. If I attach all 3 combo boxes to the same datasource (list object) then when one cboBox value changes, they all change. So my thought is to load the list once into a list object, then create a loop that loops through each item in the list and adds it to the 3 combo boxes.
I have 2 forms. When a user clicks something on form1, form2 pops up. After user is done with form2 and closes it (where the dataset is updated), I want form1 to "reload" the dataset to reflect changes made in form2.
im trying to pick up Visual basic on my own with no friends/family that have any programming experience.. I'm struggling (surprise surprise)Heres what I'm trying to do...I have 1 combo box, It will list product names.. Lets say 15 of them.. (I know 15 i could just as easily specify them individually within VB.. but lets assume I NEED to read them from an excel file.(Excel 2003)
Part 1 :Really all i need to know for now, is how do I load an excel worksheet into VB so I can call data up from the cells / rows / columns..
Part 2 : How do I define Which Cells from Each row or column I want to populate into the combo box... Presuming for the "Product name" combobox I have placed each of the 15 product names in the excel file under Row 1, column A through Row 15 , Column A.I want to avoid this and just call the xls file into VB. (Excel will be installed on any computer running this application if that matters. )
I want to create a form that, when starting, will display in a ListBox the content of a txt file. I know the file is read because I can display the content in a MsgBox. Here's a snippet of what I tried so far: Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim filein As String = "MyProjects.txt" Dim objReader As New System.IO.StreamReader(filein) ListBox1.Text = objReader.ReadToEnd objReader.Close() End Sub When I debug my app, ListBox1 is empty.
In the frmPanelSchedule form's load event I am loading 84 labels, 84 comboboxes, 420 textboxes, and 84 buttons.
The form takes a long time to load.Is there a way to speed up the loading of the form?
Private Sub frmpanel1Schedule_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ' create pole labels lblPole(1) = New Label With lblPole(1)
I am trying to Save a Form In My.Settings Then Be able to close the Application Then Open it and Have all the Forms. I need to Save and Load Multiple Forms At a time. I also need to be able to remove one of the saved forms when it is closed before the
I've got an xml file that i'm trying to bind to a combo box. i'm trying to save the selected value of the combo to another text box. when my form initially loads, the text box shows System.Data.DataRowView instead of the currently selected value.i've read on other posts that this can happen if you don't have the right column names specified. but i'm pretty sure that's not my problem... because i'm not using string values for names, but referencing them by index. also, the actual combo boxes do display the list of values.[code]...
During Loading a form, I bind a datasource property of the DGV to the bindingsource, and then set the fillweight property of the DGV columns. But, after form being shown, earlier set properties are being reseted to default = 100.
The procedure is like: 1. TestForm.Show() 2. TestForm_Load(...) Hnadles MyBase.Load DGV.DataSource = bindingsource DGV.columns(0).fillweight = 80 DGV.columns(1).fillweight = 120 3. Me.close() (Closing the form which called TestForm.Show()
And now I have visible a TestForm with well binded datasouce seeing all the columns, but their fillweith property was beeing reseted...

I have an MDI Form that contains an MDI Child form. On this child form is a flexgrid. When the user double clicks on a row in the flexgrid this loads another MDI Child form. I have set the following properties on the second child form:

Im trying to create a stopwatch in one form and another form show my progress bar using a combo box for mins and seconds to show the progress bar on form1 1
Is there a way to turn off all visual updates to a .NET form while I am manipulating it? When my program first loads, for example, I set the tab control to the tab that was last open. The user can see the program switching tabs.
I have looked into SuspendLayout and ResumeLayout, but either I don't understand what they are doing, or I am not using them correctly, because they don't seem to have any effect. Someone told me that there used to be a way to turn off paint events in VB 6. Does this still exist in .NET?
How do i load the Main form of a WPF so that a seperate thread goes and gets data from the database while the form is in an apartmentstate ? (drag-able / movable) I Know this is possible with opening a new window from your main form like this :
Private Sub openOrderWindow() Dim OrderWindow As Orders = New Orders OrderWindow.ShowDialog() End Sub
[code]....
I've tried putting MyBase.ShowDialog() and .Show() and .9000+ other things The only benefit I've got out of using a seperate thread to load from the databse is i can see the screen right away (as oppose to it being a transparent box until it loads) but i cannot move it around or minimize itis there any way to make it Movable while it loads?
Does anyone know of anyway that it would be possible to speed up the process of loading forms. With VB6, forms (simple ones) was extremely fast but with VB.net, the initial loading of a form (even the simplest one) takes very long. Although it gets better once it's loaded once and the reloaded the next time (almost instanttaneous), but the first time loading gives a bad impression to any user that .net is actually much slower.
I am using Visual Basic Express Edition 2008. I want my main (and only) form to not be re-sizeable.
FormBorderStyle = FormBorderStyle.FixedDialog To my main form load function. However, when I add this code, the form loads over my splashscreen. I am trying to have my splash screen displayed for a set amount of time
I have a form let's call it Form1 that calls another form(Form2) Form2 to has a bit a code that needs to load in the LOAD_EVENT and takes about 4 seconds.
I have made a new form(frmProgress) that only has a progress bar.I want frmProgress to show up and load the progress bar meanwhile Form2 is loading.I've tried using BackgroundWorker but I can't seem to get the grasp of it.
How I insert loading bar into vb.net form? I want insert loading bar with information that step in loading. I want to show info like when we install new program, in install program we will see progress installing.
I have an application developed in VB.NET 9.0. I am trying to load a form when the application loads. It is basically a form without border and has a .gif on it. Actually when the form loads I cannot see the gif. frm.FormBorderStyle = Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.None frm.StartPosition = FormStartPosition.CenterScreen frm.ShowInTaskbar = False frm.TopMost = True frm.Show()
