Oct 11, 2009I am been working on an a small app that has a Forms.Webbrowser control that navigates to a Adobe Flash program. I have developed the app on Vista 32bit platform and have had no problems. I have sent the app to a couple of people to test out and one is using Vista 64bit and is running into a problem. I know the webbrowser control just uses the underlying base framework of IE. The problem on the 64 bit machine is when the site is navigated to it says that it needs to have Flash installed. When the user goes to Adobe's site it says they need to use a 32bit browser.
As stated on Adobe site here:[URL] the Flash player need to be in a 32 bit browser. What options do I have to be able fix this problem? Is there another control that I can use that would be the same in a 32bit platform and 64bit platform? Besides navigating to the Flash program, the browser also goes to standard web pages.

Dec 5, 2009I have recently stumbled across a problem in the last week where Visual Studio (both 2005 and 2008) will lock up while building my solution. The status in Visual Studio will show "started building" or however the first message reads and then just sit there. At this point, the IDE will lock up (focus is lost and I can not regain it) and my machine's CPU usage will go to 100%. The only way to stop it is to force quit the application or process (either Visual Studio or my Command prompt if I am using MSBuild directly). Of course, the system still seems to be trying to process something because my machine still sits at around 100% basically forcing me to restart my machine to try again.

Jun 14, 2010When ever i publish the project, i get a bunch of deployment files and a setup file. Even after running the set up there is no .exe file.Is this just VB .Net way of opening the file now? Do i even need to use the installer? My program uses very basic math with list's and datagrid views.

Oct 25, 2009i'm running Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition (latest service pack ... 9.0.30729.1 SP) on XP Pro SP3 with .Net Framework version 3.5 SP1 I have a rather large project I've imported from Visual Studio 2003 (Standard).The project compiles and runs just fine ... my compiled program itself never crashes.
But while I actually have the code up in the IDE, and simply adding/deleting code the whole IDE will randomly crash (usually without warning) and I loose my changes since last save.If/when I do get some hint of why it crashed, I get a window about illegal whitespace or something.... but that's rare ... usually it just crashes without warning and the whole IDE completely shuts down instantly. just deleting/adding a character is enough to trigger it maybe once every 30 minutes.
This is on a computer that is otherwise very rock solid .... no other program ever crashes, etc.

Jun 30, 2011I know about VSTO/VSTA, and I also know that some VBA functionality (with .NET syntax of course) can be done in .NET. There is definitely a learning curve going from VBA to .NET without VSTO. My question though is, can everything that is done in VBA somehow be recreated in .NET without VSTO?
The reason is because I am converting my VBA application into .NET for several reasons: I want to take advantage of OO, my class libraries will be better available for use, and for fun. I wouldn't be too happy if I got so far in only to learn of some limitations.
