Get VB 2002 Conversion To VB2008 To Work -- Config/manifest Error Unclear?
Feb 26, 2012I have a VB2002 program that works. When I run it in VB2008, it updates, and runs and debugs until I shut down. When I try to start it up again from the updated SLN, or try to run the .exe in the BIN folder, I get the message "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.
I checked the error logs and it says there is a syntax error in the first line of the vhost.manifest file in the BIN folder. The first line is the xml declaration and it includes the parameter standalone = "yes".
When I put the error message into Google I only get references to Visual C++ compiled programs running on machines without the C++ redistributable dll. That doesn't seem to apply here at all, since I have the VB 2008 express edition installed on this

But when I searched about it in Google, I found it was mainly for displaying the combined values of more than one coloumn. And usage of this may reduce performance if it is treated as a permanent coloumn. So I like to know
Advantages and disadvantages When and where we need to implement this. how can I achieve a solution for the below problem, if possible (with Compute columns. If not possible why?). Or any other way to implement this requirement. My requirement is to use a colomn which will identify which coloumn of that table was updated.So I can compare the values and identify the changes.

The Dataset has many columns, and i need to read a column (based on the row type), and decide which column value to read for the row, and apply formatting based on the row type.

Aug 25, 2011I'm trying to add a computed column to a datatable that references another column in the datatable. Sometimes the computed column has a mathematical operation applied to it, but in this case I'm just referencing the original column. The code looks like the following:

The code isn't actually hard coded as shown above - there are functions that return the values for the first and third parameters - but I checked those and they are returning the expected values and not generating any errors themselves.
The error is thrown when the .Add method is called, and the error states "Syntax error: Missing operand after '_1' operator." It seems to me that it doesn't like the column name, which I suppose I could change and just workaround it at the presentation level. Still, I'm curious. Is this a bug in the .net framework or something? It doesn't mind "1_1" as a column name in the datatable, so why is it having a problem with it in the expression statement?

The class itself does not know if it's on the client side or on the web server (at this point). We are getting errors when it's attempting read app.config when it's on the web side. Aug 31, 2007I've been using ClickOnce for about year now (and regretting it), here my latest problem.I've deployed my app on about 20 PCs, and they working fine apart from one, it won't update to the latest version, it gets to about 25% and then says it can't continue, the details suggest for one of the DLL files: The manifest may not be valid or the file could not be opened. Once again, this does not happen on the other PCs.Heres what I've done so far:uninstalled completely, deleted the cache (app folders in the users profile), ran mage.exe -cc to make sure, but still no change.It also says the xxxxxx.dll is not a valid portable Executable (PE) file... but it seems to be on the other PCs ?So, before I format the hard drive and re-install windows

The program is in the Program Files directory, therefore I need to elevate in Vista to requireAdministrator. Apr 10, 2009I've been having an error with my Visual Studio 2008 with .net framework 3.5 Sp1. I am creating a project, and it would run properly until after a while when I try debugging the project I would get a error message that says:
"Error while trying to run project: Could not load file or assembly 'Name_of_Project' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest."
Also the .exe file that it creates in the bindebug folder gives and error that says:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b). Click OK to terminate the application."
These errors after a format of the machine would disappear for awhile but not indefinitely.
