I have a code made in Visual.net 2005, and I have a problem. I have an excel file where I store records. I can read this records without problem, but when I want to make a modification I get the ERROR : "Current Recordset does not support updating. I am having a problem using ADO 2.8 and SQL Server 2000.Im using the SQLOLEDB Provider and when Im trying to set the Index by using the code below i receive the ffg error...Error 3251 : Current Provider does not support the necessary interface for Index functionality..I have to use SQL Server as our Access databases are quite large...Does the index and seek function even work with ADO and SQL Server 2000?...I am migrating from DAO to ADO to use SQL Server and Im trying not to change the existing code so I need to use the Index and Seek functionality as it has been used everywhere...There are no links between any tables so I am accessing the table directly.

I'm in the middle of porting a VB6 product to VB .NET and .NET Framework 3.5, using Visual Studio 2008. Backward compatibility with customer VB6 legacy code is a requirement.Our VB6 product uses the COM ADODB.Recordset objects extensively both internally and in our API. They port directly to VB.NET if I add an adodb interop reference to my VS 2008 project. My question is how long will Microsoft continue to support ADODB.Recordsets in their languages and operating systems? 2018?I'm trying to make a design decision. Since backward compatibility with VB6 is a requirement, I would prefer to leave them in the .NET code. However, if support will be dropped soon in the near future, then I will use ADO.NET datasets instead, and convert between ADODB.Recordsets and datasets until support is dropped.

I am attempting to run an update query on a Microsoft Access Database File and am not having any luck with the update. It appears to update the RecordSet but not the actual Access Database (when I run the following code, close the debug window, then re-open it a field referring to the Count_Value column reflects the update). I am using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express to work with this code, if that is of any interest. We are working on an asp.net 2.0 web app that emails users an ical to save to their outlook 2003 calendar. We noticed none of the code to update or delete an item seem to work even though the ical 2.0 spec supports it. We are curious if Outlook 2003 just ignores this?Does Outlook 2007 act differently?We have situations where an event may change or be cancelled which fires off an email notification but the updated ical just adds a new event, it nevers deletes and or moves the original.

I am vb 2008, with backend ORACLE 8i Server version In Intel Core 2 Laptop The project is upgrade from VB 6.0. When i am running a project by step by step(F8), it is working. If i do direct(without Step by step), it is rasing this error as "Unspecified error", Particualr time all the recordsets are closed. But on the same project, opening lot of recordsets,closing and set as nothing. After somtimes only i am getting this error. Why i am getting this error really confusing?

I am trying to write out to console a percentage of data loading. I tried to use C# syntax which would be Console.Write(" Percentage: " + nCurrent + "/" + nTotal; however in VB I get the actual character 'r' being displayed in my string. Is there a special code I need to insert in order to update my cursor to the beginning of the line so that I may reuse that line?

Visual basic 2010. I am having a problem with updating on a DataGridView that has me confused.
I have a DataGridView on the first tab page that is displaying data in a DataTable.
On the second tab I am updating the current record on the DataGridView.
The text fields on the second tab are bound to the DataTable in the following manner
rnameTxt.DataBindings.Add(New Binding("Text", TableData, "rname", True))
When I move to the second tab the correct data appears in the text fields.
When I modify a field on the second tab the modified data appears in the DataGridView, on the first tab page. But when I check for changes in the DataTable in the following manner
Dim ModifiedRows As DataTable = TableData.GetChanges() I do not see the modified row - i.e. ModifiedRows = Nothing? Why is the modification not being identified???

I am creating a database application via visual studio, using VB.NET and with an access database. I've connected them and have been using them fine so far however I've had to make some changes to the original access database. I am unable to find an obvious way to update the current dataset object within the project from the new updated source file. My database has this new schema but the dataset has the old one so its causing conflicts. The only way I've found to do this in the past is to manually update the dataset with the changes I've made in the access file, so actually doing the same thing twice! Surely this isn't the only way? The changes I've recently made are massive so will take sometime to have to do it all again. If I delete the current datasource object and add it again, there are many errors left from the deletion. If I manually try to update the files, there's always some hidden ones I've missed. Ive found some sort of guide for updating the datasource via the dataset but what I want to do is the opposite!

The line that generates the error is " Set rstLogin = New ADODB.Recordset". I had a coworker compile it from his Windows 7 pc and run it on other machiens and it works fine. So I believe it's an issue with my pc config.

I am writing a small project which first reads all the access database's in a web directory and shows the database names in a combobox.
When the user select one of the names, the system connects to the database in question (still in the web directory), and shows the database contents.I have tried the following code:

Whenever i try and load a project i was working on with VB 2010 i get an error saying
"Font 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' does not support style 'Regular'"
how to get rid of this? I recreated my form for the project and copied the code over but it did this again. I didnt change any fonts on the form at all so i dont understand whats going on.

I compiled some VB6 code on my Win7 x64 machine and the result .exe will not run correctly on any other machine. VB6 code is just a new template .exe file with one button, a reference to "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.6 Library" and the following code in the button press event: Dim db Set db = New ADODB.Connection It runs correctly on my machine, but no others (even other Win7 x64 machines) (Update: I found TWO other users where it runs and one of them is Jeff Atwood!, but most machines have the same problem)

I just upgraded from Visual Studio 2005 to Visual Studio 2010 yesterday. I tried opening my site; it started the conversion wizard and seemed to work OK. However, I get the error "Visual Basic 9.0 does not support this kind of lambda expression." Here is my code:[code]....
