I am using AjaxToolJit Tab Container and the problem is when i refreshes the page the default tab is set to 0 but i was in 4th tab when i refreshed the page.AutoPostBack=true
for a while but when i used UpdatePanel in the same page causes the same problem again.

Autopostback works but when one dropdownlist is selected the page refreshes. When the user select one dropdownlist, another dropdownlist will then populate if not its empty. After submitting the form, selecting dropdownlist will remove all the validation message. does it reload the entire page or does it have the intelligence to only send the necessary js to update the needed parts of the page that have changed?
if it does the latter that would be a god send, however im probably being dreamful. it probably returns the entire view without any regard, right?
edit: answer seems to be no, everything is returned.
edit added: do you think it would be difficult to write a framework where mvc compares last html it output to the current html we want to output, and instead of sending the entire html, figure out what has changed and generate js code that will do the updating as compared to previous html? (presuming nothing was manually changed on the client using js)... maybe an idea for a codeplex project? or maybe something like this exists?

When I click in any button in the same page, the entire page reload and it display 8 items in the RadioButtonList, If I click for the second time I get 12 items in the RBL...How can I prevent the page to reload if I click in this button. ?

All is working, but now I would like to close child page, if user leaves child popup page and goes back to parent page and clicks on something else like page index of Gridview. I CANNOT close popup child page if user goes to another app, or some other location, I only want to close if something on parent page is changed.
I have the PageIndexChange Event set up for other purposes, I would just like to add some functionality, perhaps a script manager to close the child popup page if the Gridview index is changed, java or another way which ever works best.I think I might also need to check if the child page is even open.

I've gotten a bit of understanding about what's going on, but using ASP controls still hides too much of the machinery, and I want to have a deeper understanding. So, I hoped to make my .aspx file do double-duty both as the regular-page request handler as well as the Ajax request handler. However, when I click the button ("baroo") to generate the Ajax request, the result that ends up written back to the "testytext" div is the raw html for the entire page, as if under normal request conditions. Clearly, my attempt to override the page request by making the code-behind implement IHttpHandler and supplying an "Overrides Sub ProcessRequest" method is not working. The server is still treating the Ajax request as a normal request, and in fact my own "ProcessRequest" method is never even called.Is it possible to build a page/handler like this? How can I intercept the incoming request from the client and respond accordingly?This is how Ajax works, right? I'm not sure what's wrong with the following setup. I have a View that lists a number of records, and each has a dropdown associated with it to change a value on that record. I had it all working without AJAX, but you had to change a bunch of the dropdowns then click a Submit button. I wanted to change it so that it would save the dropdown choice immediately.

What I would like to happen is for the dropdown change to trigger the Update controller, but probably not return anything - just update the database and let the user move on. What's happening though is that a blank page is displayed with the Content value on it (i.e. "123: ABC"). It's the correct id/code combo, so the Update seems to be firing correctly, it's just choosing to wipe out the html.

I have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout.

I have a web application built around a frameset. The main page (with the frameset layout) is index.aspx. After the user logs in, if there are any alerts it redirects the main content frame to an alerts page with a confirmation button on it. When they click this button I want the index.aspx to be reloaded. If I use the response.redirect("index.aspx") on button click it reloads the main content frame with another frameset.
The server-side button click sets a flag within the database so that the user doesnt see the alert again.
how do I force a complete reload of the entire frameset?
Every time I refresh the browser, my button's event handler fires again. How do you prevent this?
