.net - MD5CryptoServiceProvider ComputeHash Between VS 2003 And VS 2008
Jul 13, 2009
I have a database application that generates a MD5 hash and compares the hash value to a value in our DB (SQL 2K). The original application was written in Visual Studio 2003 and a deployed version has been working for years.
Recently, some new machines on the .NET framework 3.5 have been having unrelated issues with our runtime. This has forced us to port our code path from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual Studio 2008. Since that time the hash produced by the code is different than the values in the database. The original call to the function posted in code is:
I am having a hell of a time trying to md5 hash this with PHP... The VB code I am trying to port to PHP uses ComputeHash which takes in a byte[] and performs a hash on the whole array.
Public Shared Function HashBytesMD5(ByVal strInput As String) As Guid Dim oHasher As Cryptography.MD5 = Cryptography.MD5.Create() Dim oEncoder As New System.Text.UTF8Encoding()
Dim hashfromMd5 As MD5 = MD5.Create()data = hashfromMd5.ComputeHash(input)How can I get the percent of progress, progress related to "reading" the (input) -- using "data"? -- to be displayed live
Can I have both Visual Studio 2003 and Visual Studio 2008 installed on same computer (Windows XP)?In my case I got VS 2008 installed first Can I install VS 2003 now, without any problems?Kamlesh | Blog | Twitter | Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights
I wrote an application in VB.NET 2003 and would like to upgrade and use VB.NET 2008. Is there anything I should know before hand when converting my application from 2003 to 2008? Didn't know if it was like converting a VB 6.0 application to VB.NET.
I have an application that was developed and is maintained in VB.NET 2003. Is it possible to convert the 2003 files to Visual Studio 2008 and maintain the program in 2008? If so is this fairly easy to do?
i would like to ask if it is possible to implement clickonce like in vb2008 in vb.net 2003?..example:i have a button "Update" in my application running on local machine...if i click it it will check the remote server if there is an update of that app.if yes then download it an change the application on local machine...
I am NOT allowed to install into Windows Server GAC. I am allowed to upload my program files to a shared drive, not the operating system drive. To begin, I created a simple Class Library .dll and uploaded the entire project folder to the shared drive. I have absolute permission to do anything with this drive and the computer. This class library has only (1) public property.I created a client exe. with a reference to the shared drive .dll. I do not want a local copy of the .dll into my client folder. I want all clients to use this shared copy on my shared drive. And I repeat, I do not want to install into the GAC. I also have full permissions on my terminal.I have created a key file (.snk) for my .dll, and set up assembly information (public id) and tested.I have tried without key(.snk file), and removed assembly information, and tested. Can someone point me into the direction to install/or not to install a MyClass.dll on a shared driveand be able to reference it from other applications?I do not want to use ASP.NET. This is just a base class. This is not a Web service. It seems Windows server 2003 wants this installed into the GAC (C:WindowsAssembly)I have to be missing something.
Have upgraded a program with the wizard after a bit of pottering about I got it to run
So cpl of things... I changed the program republished it...then ran setup again...does seem to be updating the program for forms...ie small changes like text boxes
In VB, under Data Sources, I set five to textbox and the last two to linklabel. I then dragged each to my form. When I run the program, everything works, navigation and data displayed. However, I have not been able to figure out how to have the URL and Map (linklabels) when clicked to open into a browser. I have found many sites on the web that gives me example code to hard code one specific linklabel to be presented as a hyperlink, but have not found a solution to making a linklabel a hyperlink when the data is filled from an Access database. I am also trying to figure out how to mask the data. For example, I want URL [URL] to display as Homepage, and [URL]to display as Directions.
This might seem like a silly question, even for a newbie but I can't access the members of a class from a user control. I am developing a shopping cart application in vb 2008. inside the app_data folder i have a folder name BusinessObjects which contains a class called Catalog. This is the code for this class:
I am in process of upgrading to Visual Studio 2008 from 2003. Most of the upgrade is easy except this one issue:When application is trying to Decrypt encrypted data from database, it is throwing following error. This code works fine with Visual Studio 2003.[code]
I'm converting a VB6 app (that works fine) to VB.Net app for work using Visual Studio 2008 Express. I have Word 2003 SP3 on my laptop. I need to open an existing Word document; edit it; and save the changes. Now in VB.Net, when I try to do 'Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word', only Microsoft.Office.Core shows up as a choice. I have Microsoft Office 11.0 Object Libary referenced. I've been searching the internet for hours but can't find any thing that helps. Can anyone here point out what I'm doing wrong? How do I get ...Interop.Word to show up as a choice?
I have a requirement to query Exchange Server 2003 for some specified user accounts and to retrieve all calendar appointments for a given date range.I've had a look at various articles on the Internet but most relate to local installations of Outlook (not Exchange server) and others are in VBScript (in this case, which doesn't convert well to .NET).
I am stuck, I dont know why the following is happening.
1. Open program. 2. Click on a record in listbox1 (It then put all date of this row in the textboxes) 3. Change/ edit info in textboxes 4. Click on edit button.
It does not update and when it updates it does not put all info in, or dit makes a new row of data.I don't want it to make a new one, it must update it.
I am working on a VS .NET 2008 windows service for 2003, however it doesnt appear to work correctly.I am basically reading a file from a networked computer and trying to display its content, the code is as follows:
Code: Public Class LB_Analyzer Private WithEvents Timer1 As New System.Timers.Timer Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String)
[code]....
Now, everytime I run this service it logs the events inside the "GetMachineVol" function, but I never get to the ""Ticked at "" event log from the "main" sub, pretty much as if the service stopped working after trying to assign the value returned from "GetMachineVol" to the string "MachineVolBSFull". I tried using this code on a windows form and everything works fine, and since debugging a service is quite beyond my skills, I really do not know what could be wrong.
I have a form and some controls as dropdown and textboxes..The situation is that when the form loads, i want the value in textbox to be incremented, everytime it loads..This is something i tried.. I get the value '1' everytime !! It shows no sign of increment..However, i also want it in the format 0001,0002 if possible.
Private Sub Order_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load textBox1.ReadOnly = True
Is it possible to pass data between a MODULE in Access and a VB2008 app?
To be more specific, suppose a VB app calls a MODULE in a access DB and the job of the module is to count the number of records that have "Joe" in a column. I know this can be done with a SELECT within the bindingsource BUT in some instances, it is much faster to pass the task to Access and return the result.
So - can an Access MODULE RETURN a value back to a VB app?
I am upgrading from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual Studio 2008. ow I should upgrade my project. My project is in Visual Basic.Net, and using an Access 2003 Database. I have four datasets, MainDataSet (for the main data tables) LookupDataSet (for lookup tables States, Countries, Colors, etc) OneFormDataSet (data used on only one form) and ReportsDataSet (data used for reports).I have one form "OleDbAdpatForm.vb", that has all the OleDbDataAdpaters for my project. It also has the DataSets and the OleDbConnection.I have public functions that enable me to load the data tables.
I have a LoadTable function when I can pass a column and a value, and the SQL select command is updated with a WHERE or HAVING, so only the requested data is selected. I also can pass the whole "WHERE ..." part of the SQL select command, so I can have multiple parameters in the SELECT command. On my other forms, I have copies of the DataSets, so I can design grids/controls. In the form_Load events, I manually bind the controls to DataSets and tables in located "OleDbAdpatForm.vb", so all forms are using the same data tables, and changes made to data in one form are reflected in data in other forms. The VS 2008's DataSources, BindingSources and TableAdapters seem much easier to use. how I should implement the new data features in my application?
The Calendar control (the Month Calendar) control in VB 2008. I am creating an attendance timesheet and I want the Calendar to color each date differently like e.g An employee Paul is selected from a list.
On the calendar I select the month. (The dates are not supposed to be selectable). Then lets say it is June. He is late on the 1st and the Second, so those days are supposed to be colored red (the whole block). Let's also say he is absent on the fourth and so I want that date to be coloured black. How do I do this? I tried finding a query and my friend told me that this functionality is not available in the current control and that I was best off making my own control (???).
I have tried selecting specific dates and bolding them (there is a function that allows this) but I am stumped trying to find two different ways to differentiate colours. Second:- How do I link a calendar with an Access Database?
My intention is to load my data from access database through datagridview but it keeps telling me the same error. This is the exact error message I've gotten.. it threw an oledb Exception stating: Could not open table 'MSysAccounts' in the workgroup information file. I've been browsing and viewing different resources but I still do not find a solution to view my data in datagridview. Few things I've tried:
1. I originally uses Ms Access 2007 to load, but it does not seem to work well, hence i converted it into Ms Access 2003 format. Same error displayed.
2. Working around with the workgroup in Access 2003, creating new workgroup which creates System.mdw file and I replaced it in:
I've got this program I'm working on in VisStudio2008. Basically, it accepts a password and executes an Access 2003 database using the Access 2003 runtime. I've got the thing looking up a password and all is good, but there's one problem those annoying Access 2003 and higher warnings about unsafe macros. Does anyone know a way to make sure those don't show up when the program starts? My client has a database that someone else wrote for her. She's not at a point where she could have it rewritten (believe me, I've tried to talk her into that). So I have to stay in Access but it's not very professional to have those warnings come up.
I have a windows form and I am attempting to create an excel file from a datatable that has already been created and i'm hitting a snag - the error is: The ':' character, hexadecimal value 0x3A, cannot be included in a name."I have a button to start the Export process, here's the
'here's all my imports for the form Imports DocumentFormat.OpenXml.Packaging Imports System.Text
I am trying to retrieve the data from EXCEL 2003 spreadsheet from row 8 onwards because from Row 1 to Row 7 the row is merged columns from A1 to K1, A2 to K2, A3 to K3, A4 to K4, A5 to K5, A6 to K6, A7 to K7.
