I have a form that is displayed, not by ShowDialog, but by setting its visible property to true. This is so it behaves like a dropdown. The form installs a mouse hook, using SetWindowsHookEx(WH_MOUSE, ...).
I detect if the mouse is clicked outside of the dropdown and if so, return 1 in my HookProc method and close the dropdown. The strange thing is, if I click outside of my drop down on to a textbox, the textbox still receives the mouse click, after my dropdown closes, even though it's been handled by my HookProc method. It gets stranger... If I click on a label or button, they do not receive the mouse click, as expected, after the drop down closes!
The GetAsyncKeyState Api does'nt recognizes the mouse wheel rotation, I see.Is there way to control the mouse wheel rotation (always, not only when the pointer is over a form of mine) with a simple API, without to Hook the mouse?
I want to hook low level Mouse hook in vb, and after that I want to save the X-axis, Y-axis and clicks(Right/Left) into database for later use or automation..But I don't understand that how should I save the X-axis, Y-axis and clicks into a MS SQL databse and later retrieve them?
Using VB 2010, is it possible to capture all mouse clicks and determine what was clicked? We're trying to develop a small utility that will pop up context based menus to fill in application forms and common strings for terminal sessions.Basically, whenever I middle click I want my app to determine if the window was an occurance of PuTTY. If so, check the titlebar for certain strings and send keystrokes to that window based on the titlebar text.If VB 2010 can't do this, what should I be looking for? Will VB6 apps do the job? Will they work on a Windows 7 PC?
I have a form, that acts like a drop-down, that I display non-modal. I attach a mouse hook to the form to determine when the mouse is clicked out of it, so that I know to close it - by setting Visible = False.
Because I want the HookProc to handle the last click, I can't dispose the Hook or my Dropdown until I'm sure that my event handler has returned to the HookProc.[code]...
I need to write an application that can validate wether or not a proper process was followed based on information that was entered into another .NET appliction. Basically, I need to be able to intercept a mouse click on a button in another application so that instead of submitting the data it triggers my validation code then cancel the action if need be.
We do not have the code to the other application. I have everything I need perform the validation. The only thing I don't know how to do is intercept the mouse click on the button control of the other application. Can some one show me how this is done?
This was the code and this is the thread HERE Ok its working and everything but when i want to perform something when click is noticed it says i cant cross-threads
I'm using code from here - [URL]. And I'm getting the old A call to PInvoke function 'EliteSwitch!EliteSwitch.MouseHook::CallNextHookEx' has unbalanced the stack. This is likely because the managed PInvoke signature does not match the unmanaged target signature. Check that the calling convention and parameters of the PInvoke signature match the target unmanaged signature. Error on this line Return CallNextHookEx(MouseHook, nCode, wParam, lParam) I've tried changing variable types but I can't get it.
I'm attempting to intercept and interrupt mouse events. Lets say I wanted to disable the right mouse button down event, or even the mouse move event. I haven't been able to figure out the interrupting part.
I am using the (I assume pretty widely used) following code for Global Hooking of the mouse.

I am new to VB.NET, Now i'm working with Events in VB.NET, I have two event methods, Mouse Click and Mouse Down for a single button in a form, I have displyed a message in each of these methods but only mouse down event is triggered. Why Mouse Click is not triggered? Similiarly I Did the same for Mouse Enter and Mouse Move for a particular button, in this case both the events are triggered.
I have the code which checks if there is a selected tab
Private Function GetBrowser() As WebBrowser If TabControl1.SelectedTab IsNot Nothing Then For Each c As Control In TabControl1.SelectedTab.Controls If TypeOf (c) Is WebBrowser Then Return c
I have a panel with some controls in it (several textboxes, a slider, 2 buttons, and a small groupbox).. When I click a button, I want all of the textboxes within the panel to be readonly... So I have this code: [code] When I run it though, I get the following error:Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.Button' to type 'System.Windows.Forms.TextBox'.If I remove a button, it moves on to give me the same error but for a label..
Right now I have a program in which I'm trying to read the mouse cursor position relative to the window form, but I am currently having a problem. It only works if the mouse is directly over the form, and it will not work if I hold the mouse over an object, such as a label, a command button, or a picturebox. I tried resolving this by adding handle clauses for mousemove over those objects, however, while it works for the label, it doesn't work for the pictureboxes. This is because the pictureboxes are in an array and are defined at runtime. How would I go about resolving this?
code in question Private Sub Form1_MouseMove(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Me.MouseMove, lblStat.MouseMove
I have a form with 2 contols that I with to connect by drawing a "wire" on the screen. It goes like this: you mouse down on the first control then move the mouse while holding the mouse button down. When the mouse is over the 2nd control the mouse button is released and the controls are wired.
So I am playing with mouseup, down, move, etc. When the mouse is over the first control I get mouse moves from that control, but when it moves off the events stop, and I get no events from the form even though the mouse is there.
Is there a way to do this? I have seen it done in a Java app. I could brute force it and just draw a box on the form instead of a control, but that sounds like a step back.
I have a basic three form application. It doesn't seem to close after navigating through forms. If I were to open the application, and the main form is displayed. If I press the X button, the application closes fine(Goes from processes) If I were to open the application, and then navigate from the main form to another form using me.hide & form1.show, and press the red X on Form1, the application again, closes fine.
.NET developing and have a simple question, i've been stuck on this for a while and searched many forums first with no solution so i'm posting myself. In VB for excel i've used Screenupdating=false to disable the screen updating however now i'm creating a visual studio 2010 windows forms application and its not showing up as a property. Here's the code i've tried.
I have the requirement to create an application that has multiple front ends developed using Windows Forms, WPF, ASP and Compact Framework Mobile Forms.I would like to be able to create a series of obejct representing the business logic and have this logic accessible from the various front ends available. My first thought was to use remoting as I'd like to be able to pass the business objects back and forth between client and server but the compact framework doesn't support remoting and also transferring a full framework business object to a compact framework business object doesn't seem possible. My next thought was to use web services but again the passing of business objects seems to be very hard to accomplish. Without doing this I would have to create individual web methods for each business operation.
Finally my next option is to use sockets and write the whole client/server logic within some classes and expose them to the UI/Business layer. My only problem with this is it is not scaleable should the number of clients increase dramatically whereas using remoting or web services I can host the solution via ASP.Net.Does anybody have an ideas on the best way forward for this or even have any input on how they would write an application that required a windows form, wpf, asp website and mobile device GUI all of which want to use the same business logic?
I would like to know if its possible to start up a second windows forms inside the parent form. Ex: A button is pressed and a new form is showed. I would like to keep that new form inside the parent form, and have it not be able to go outside the parent form.

i'm trying to work on a seamless 'help' system on my new application, so that throughout the application, people can hover over different aspects of it to display a small window of help, which follows the cursor until the user leaves the aspect they hovered over. I have had a look around and can't find any good code for this, and tried some myself without success.
I have never written a hook before. Can anyone point me in the right direction of good tutorials to get starrted on hooks. I'm looking to write something so when a user right clicks on a file, they have an option to copy the path and filename of that file to the clipboard.
