I want to know the behavior of string array when using For Each loop in it. Consider following code:
Dim StringArray(499) As String'fill in each element with random string
Dim count As Int32 Dim current As String For Each current in StringArray
[Code]...
As shown in the code above, if I need to access StringArray twice using For Each loop, is that true that ALL elements in StringArray will be loaded twice even though I only use 10 elements in each For Each loop? From performance point of view, is that advisable to use String array as data structure to store a list of strings that needed to be accessed multiple times, for example 20 times within a method?
I am making the belated transition from VB6 to VB.NET (2008). I would appreciate some guidance on writing arrays to a file. I need to save and load large arrays of 4-byte floats (24 x 90,000 values is not uncommon). I can load or save them using nested for-next loops, but that's quite slow. I'd like to find a single operation that can read or write the binary data.In VB6 I could accomplish this (writing case shown) with Put #1 , , MyArray()I can read and write single variables from binary files without problems in .net. For example, [code]I have looked and looked, and Googled endlessly, but cannot find out how to accomplish a single-line numeric, floating-point array read or write in VB.NET.
I know if I use String.Split on "Alpha Beta", with the space character as the separator, I will get "Alpha" "Beta". My question is, how do I then handle "Alpha" and "Beta" as separate strings in future code?
i have an array contains a-z.Then i have a textbox and when click on the button, it will replace the text inside the textbox to the index number of the array.Example, from "abc" will become "0 1 2" The code below do the job.how to do so that i can replace the text inside the textbox from "0 1 2" back to "abc" based on the array?
Dim txtKey As String = readKeyTxt.Text readKeyTxt.Text = "" For Each b As String In txtKey[code].....
I am writing an OPC Client in VB.NET (2008) and I am using an OPC wrapper from Graybox. I am having some problems with the data types. I have an Array of String that contains all of the OPC Items that I wish to read from the OPC Server. When I attempt to use the Array of String, Option Strict causes the following compile error message:Error 5 Option Strict On disallows narrowing from type 'System.Array' to type '1-dimensional array of String' in copying the value of 'ByRef' parameter 'ItemIDs' back to the matching argument. How do I pass the Item ID's (all strings) in an array?
I have an array defined As string and the value stored in site is like "7E", "A1" and so on. But in order to send out this array through serial port. I need to change the the array to As Byte instead of using As String. How can I convert it?
I've been working with a sig capture application sample on a windows mobile device, The data is sent via IP to a host as a byte array and is then drawn onto the screen of the host as it appeared on the client. I was able to get this into the form of a bitmap object so I could print it or save to a jpg file. That all works well. The problem now is that I need to store this data in a database and then be able to recall it at a later time and recreate the signature image.
The byte array data is much smaller than the actual image so I would like to store it in that form. My issue is that when I convert this byte array into a string and back again my program can no longer re-create the image. Once I saw the problem I created the code below as a test and added the msgboxes to get an idea what was happened to my data.
Im working on a program and I get this "Value of type '1-dimensional array of String' cannot be converted to 'String'." heres the code that gets this error:
I don't understand why the line final.join etc pops up with these errors!! Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of String' And Access of shared member, constant member, enum member or nested type through an instance; qualifying expression will not be evaluated This is my code.
I want the Function to accept List(Of String), Array & String and similarly return List(Of String), Array & String respectively. The Function simply adds a string (month) to the input collection. I just want to use it for string, array and list with needing to think of conversions.
I need to do this to every line in a file and save the # five Element in an array. I keep getting (error code 1 Value of type '1-dimensional array of String' cannot be converted to 'String'.)
NOTE: if I change ( Dim Lineoftext(1) to Dim Lineoftextt works) (It does't seem to work with arrays)
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I am trying to the copy the value from string to char array using String.CopyTo() method.
Here's my code
Dim strString As String = "Hello World!" Dim strCopy(12) As Char strString.CopyTo(0, strCopy, 0, 12)
[code]....
Edit : I get the this error at runtime.ArgumentOutOfRangeException Index and count must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: sourceIndex
I'm making a card game and the first thing I'm doing for it is generating a random card. I used an array for the cards (can't think of a better way to assign a picturebox to a card picture other then a huge select case block). I'm trying to split the 2D array into two parts but it doesn't work.
My current
vb Public Class frmMain Private Function Flop() 'First three common cards to be displayed.
[Code].....
I looked around online and I don't think a list will work for my 2-dimensional array.
Is there a way to use the string.split command to get a section of a string without using an intermediary array?for example, if my string is "1 2" and I want to get the "2" part using string.split(" "), is there a way to avoid creating a new array, and just get the bit of the string I want in a single line?
I wrote the code below which calculates the length of a line on the form and save record. An error occurs when the programme tries to save the record. It gives me "Cannot perform '=' operation on System.Int32 and System.String" error. I checked the data type of "ID"(int), "Microscope"(Varchar), "Magnification"(int) and "Calibration"(Decimal), and they are fine so far as I know.
Code: Private Sub btnEnd_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnEnd.Click 'Check if the length textbox is not empty
Here is the code I am working with, everything works fine up until last line then i get evaluate exception unhandled "Cannot perform '=' operation on System.Int32 and System.String." My eyes are going blind trying to figure out whats wrong, if I understand correctly it cant count system string and REO is a string value.
The thing i have done this before ,count that is. I know you cant average strings and some other function but i have been able to count.
d Dim comm As New OleDb.OleDbCommand("Select * From " & Me.OpenFileDialog1.SafeFileName & " Where Status <> 'S'", con) Dim dalist As New OleDbDataAdapter(comm) Dim comm1 As New OleDbCommand("SELECT * FROM " & Me.OpenFileDialog1.SafeFileName & " Where Status
I have a string which I've split into an array. I need to change a value in the array and join the string together. However I cannot set the value of the array variable as it's read only.Is there any way to do this without creating another array?
Dim LineOfText As StringDim aryTextFile As String[code...]
