I want to make a program that generates a 6 digit number for me by clicking a button. I can make a simple counter, but the nunmber I generate can only be used one. So , I need to store that number somehwere (access, xls, whatever) and then start the next count from the last number.

Every 5-digit combination that I enter returns "The credit card number is not valid". Im using visual basic 2008 express

View 1 RepliesI'm supposed to write a program that validates an inputted ten digit ISBN number using the check-digit at the end to ensure that the sum is a multiple of eleven. Before calculating this and detecting if the entered number is indeed a valid ISBN, we're required to check the first nine digits and see if they are indeed integers. After this the tenth digit is checked to see if it is "X" (for ten) or 0-9.
With the code I've written it keeps returning false for whether or not the ISBN is valid, even with valid numbers. I feel like its something to do with the hyphens; have I misused the replace function?I'm a little lost on how to make my code work, but I'm fairly certain my logic is okay so far.

I'm using Visual Studio and table adapters using an Access DB as the backend. I need the minimum 4 digit value. I want to get next available 4 or 5 digit number. And this will change depending upon the users request. Currently I use a table adabpter query. But how would I write a query. I suppose I could do a long iterative loop through all values until I see a 4 digit.But I'm trying to think of something more efficient.

I am needing some help with coding a generator when clicking on "Button1."I am needing the click of "Button1" to spawn a random 16 digit number that is completely random such as: "9381182729373054" for a password to login with that generates to "Textbox1." Then at the same time as that "Button1" needs to spawn a random 3 digit number that is randomized such as: "473" for "Textbox2." While this is generating the first two textboxes. i wanted to create a random number generator that iterates through a series of number between an upper and lower bound. say between 1 and 100. Basically I want the number generator to pick the numbers randomly and then display them until all 100 numbers are picked without any duplicates. so thats easy I can code that. But what I don't know is how to show those numbers in the order they are generated on a windows form. So i have basically a variable that I will let be changed 100 times (or however many times I want, I don't want their to be a size constraint just using 100 as an example) and each time the number is generated I want it displayed on screen (in a list or something not sure what. Hopefully some type of scrollable list) and each successive number also to be displayed in same format beneath it so that I can see the list in its entirety. What type of form control do i use for that? I could do messagebox.show for each iteration but then user is required to hit ok after each iteration and that would obviously be a bad idea if user selected a large number to work through. Anyways, code isn't exactly necessary just point me in the right direction, i.e.what control (if any) to use.how to format the change in data?

View 4 RepliesI have this program generating a firstname and lastname from a file. When I run this program I enter information in three textboxes. The first two are the salary low and high(salary1.text, salary2.text) and the last one is the number of "copies"(copies.text) that I want.. When I put a number such as 10 in the text box it outputs some of the same names. The firstname file has around 100 records and the lastname file has about 1000 records Why is it generating the same name The problem is even worse if I do something like 1000 copies.. it outputs the same thing 8 times and then does something different another 8 times

How I could retrieve the single digits of a 4 digit number to manipulate them in my own way to encrypt the 4 digit number to my liking. Here's what I have to do; take a 4 digit number, add 7 to each digittaking the result and dividing by 10 leaving only the remainder. Then swap the first digit with the third, and swap the second with the fourth digit.

But after the application closes there is still memory being held in Processes by the application. However, when pressing the [X] in the top of the form the application closes again but in this instance it is not held in Processes. How do I write the close for Exit to take into account how the [X] works and close the application cleanly?

I want to be able to enter (type in) data into a combobox as well as picking from the list. In earlier VB there was AfterUpdate event so that I could enter in the data I wanted. Now I have tried Keypress, Enter, and others and they all want just one character or number. If I try to enter a two-digit number it doesn't wait.

View 12 RepliesOk, now I have another problem that I cant seem to figure out I now have the "Labour charge section" just incase the service requires one. which in alot of cases it does. So, I have a test box called text box 1, which I want to be able to insert "hours worked" which is a "digit" and then Have a fixed value, of five. Which the user can later change. The number from the box, and the user specified Hourly charge, must then be multiplied to create the total labour charge which will be inserted into a label view. So, my question first, is, how would the user be able to set the hourly charge and then not be able to change it by accident. I was thinking of having a tool strip with an options tab and then setting, and then you use that to fill the info, and have that hourly charge, hidden of the actuall form so that it cant be changed by mistake. Then, on to of that, how would you multiply these two numbers?

View 5 RepliesI am trying to take a database with multiple entries of 11 digit numbers and run a check sum algorithm that adds the 12th digit to the 11 digits as an output.The algorithm is as follows:
Add sum of odd digits starting with first digit, then multiply by 3.
Add sum of even digits, then add to result of odd digits multiplied by 3.
Take result and divide by 10. The remainder is the check sum which needs to be added to the end of the original 11 digits.

Then I need to be able to take the stored number & decode it back into the original seven numbers. Anyone have any clever ideas how I can do this?

What I can't get to work correctly is the following. I have a textbox for the min and max. The way I have it setup is when it generates it I have a MessageBox show it but it pulls the same number a few times in a row. How do I make it pull a different number each time until all numbers a pulled. I then want to add them to a listbox as each one is generated.
I need to create a multi dimensional array comprised of random numbers between 1 and 4. The reason why I need a mutidimensional array is because each number needs to be associated with a random letter of F or N. [ F or N are really Indicators or whether I should show the user Feedback on their results in the case of F. Or not show them Feedback in the case of N.] So within this array 2 random numbers will be associated with random F's. And 2 will be associated with random N's. For example the array should look like (1,F 2,F 3,N 4,N) or (3,N 2,F 1,N 4,F). The reason why I need this random array is because during the course of my application being ran 4 times (which represents the numbers) I want to insure that every time N is done 2 times and F is done 2 times. This is all to make sure that each Number 1-4 after 100 times the application is ran has the same amount of F's and N's. I was also wondering if someone knows a way to store how many times the application has been ran in asp.net so that I can recreate another random string after 4 application runs.
