I have a problem with this code. If i start the program and click on save.The program saves the picture. If i reload the picturebox and save it again i get the error :A generic error occurred in GDI+.I think the problem is that the File is being used by another process.So i think i can't rewrite the bmp file. However, I get the "A generic error occurred in GDI+. while saving".I understand it as this- possibly an error saving it to C:?? I don't mind how its done or whether its bmp/jpg (jpg would be better for te compression) but This orginally did work now I keep getting this error that I have never come across before and can't find much information on the error.Error Message:A generic error occurred in GDI+.

there is no problem if i changed the image before saving it back to db,it gives error if you will not change the image before saving it back to database..

I have a problem when trying to save a picture box image ( I am using vb2008 express edition)When i load my windows form I create a folder called images and the current date (eg images 24062011) using the following code.

so my problem is why does the 1st statement give me the error as surely as I have declared that fold = the folder name then that path should be correct, as the program is set to save the image automatically, not using the savefiledialogue I don't want to have to manually type in the folder name every time I use the program.

I get "a generic error occurred in GDI+" raised. Googling reveals a few hits for this problem but seemingly mostly related to using databases rather than the file system.
Has anyone come across this? I don't want to paste all my code here in case my nemesis is watching, however basically I'm getting a reference to the PictureBox's Image property and manipulating the pixels using GetPixel and SetPixel, and then setting the picturebox's image property = my modified bitmap.
I understand that the error is generally related to the bitmap not being ready to be saved - is there anything specific I need to do to "close" the bitmap so it can be saved?The strange thing is that I'm sure this was working earlier today and now seems to have arbitrarily stopped working.

View 6 RepliesI got a serious problem. Though I have made my program newly it shows error. I have used 1280,1024 animation only for first form then used 1280,1024 image for every form. Today I was checking then it was showing me error message for 19th & 20th form. If I use On Error Resume Next then it shows error for another form ; if I use same code there in the menu item I mean so that I can get rid of error when I click to show a form it shows another error. First error message is "InvalidOperationException was unhandeled An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is parameter is not valid." and second error is "OutofMemoryException was unhandled Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown". I have noticed it that it doesnt show error message for those form which have few labels and text boxes. It shows error message for those forms which have 1 menu bar, 2 picture boxes(one is 1280,1024 & another is 250,456), 2 group boxes, 40 labels, 3 combo boxes, 38 text boxes & three buttons. The Form Designer in the IDE is no longer working properly. When I create a new project, the Form Designer will work, but after I save it and close the IDE and reopen the next day the Form Designer no longer shows the form and instead says "To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved: An Error occurred while parsing EntityName.Line 2, position 62" If I click ignore and continue, then it just displays a blank form with no controls. The problem appears to have started after I unistalled and reinstalled VB2008 Express.
