Create New Projects In Temporary Directory?
Jun 8, 2012Basically I've been using the VS2008 Express editions for the last few years. With the express editions (with the exception of C++), by default when you create a new project, the project files are all stored in a temporary directory. When you select "Save All" for the first time, VS would prompt for a project directory and then you could save the project into your regular project directory.This is behaviour I found exceedingly useful, as many times I create very quick, simple programs to do 1 thing for me before never needing them again.Once I close VS, it prompts me whether I want to save the project, I select "Discard" and everything's all good; my project directory doesn't get cluttered with useless directories for 1-time projects and everybody wins.
However, with VS2010 Ultimate I've noticed that the default behaviour has changed and all new projects are created directly into my Project directory (yes I'm aware I can change the directory when creating the project, but that's a needless waste of time). This has led me to reverting to express editions whenever I want to write a small program, which isn't too bad at home, but at work we only have VS2010 professional. Every time I create a simple project I have to remember to delete the directory later or face having a directory of "WindowsFormsApplication1000232131231".

Then i get the "find people" box pop up. So i know i have the correct LDAP but not sure why the other information is preventing it from working..

Mostly what must i be aware of when trying to add them? Multiple opinions on the matter would be fine but I really just wish to add users with basic information like firstname and lastname and maybe to specific group.

Create Users In Our Active Directory?
May 13, 2005I created a piece of code to create users in our active directory (2003) Everything is working OK and all attributes are set correctly. Only if i logon with a created user i do not get the mapping H: to the homedrive. When looking in ADUC the path to the homedir is correct. Also permissions on the homedir are correct and the user is owner of the dir.
If i correct the path in ADUC to another path and change it back again to point to the homedir the drive mapping is made correctly, so it look's like some kind of attribute is not set correctly. I used ldp.exe to view the created user's attributes before and after modifying the path but don't see any difference.
Tried to create the dir before and after user creation but that's not making any difference.

Users Drive To Be Able To Load Them From Specified Directory?
Oct 13, 2010I have a program that allows the user to choose from 100's of .rtf files and .loadfile them into an rtb. When I build and then deploy the program (version1.0) how are the files that pre-exist on my drive end up available on the users drive to be able to load them from the specified directory? Do I need to make the .rtf files a resource? Or is this process simply "done" when user installs app? By the way, I am using Visual Studio 2008 (Visual Basic).

May 1, 2009I'm designing a program to search through all users in Active Directory and get the lastLoginTimeStamp attribute. From there I'm having a report(.csv) genererated based on who hasn't logged in 30,60, 0r 90 days. I believe I'm having a problem in my loop somewhere. My code works when I LDAP an OU with users inside but when I try to get it to seach subcontainers I get several exceptions thrown at me. Here is a sample of my loop code:

WINNT Object Only Returning 100 Users From Active Directory
Mar 15, 2011I have this problem that just recently started happening.I've created this snippet that isolates the problem, which is basically, the same VBScript that used to return all of my users from Active Directory, now only returns the first 100 users.If I filter by group, then i get all of the groups (which is more than 100).The problem started happening last November, then went away for a while and has come back.The server guys tell me that nothing should have changed there.When I run this script for various domains, i get a numbered list of just the first 100 users.I'm running this on IIS (which hasn't changed)[code]
