View 2 RepliesI've created managed code to programmatically provision websites on Windows 2008 servers from a Vista 64-bit workstation.The provisioning covers creating DNS entries, creating a file structure and a the IIS7 site (using Microsoft.Web.Administration aka MWA).I've had to do some DCOM configuration to get it to work through a firewall and it all works on the test server provided I'm in the same domain.I then cloned the Windows Server 2008 Virtual Machine (VM) that the provisioning does work on and then changed the clone's domain to the child domain in the forest where the production servers are sitting.The provisioning user credentials are synchronised on the parent and child domains.So the only change is moving domains and there is an automatically configured trust relationship between the domains.
Provisioning the file system still works on the server on the child domain, but managing DNS and IIS7 now have access issues.I've tried impersonating the Administrator on the child domain (and the thread identity is showing that works) and also had a go with CoInitializeSecurity (though I'm not sure that is appropriate for Win2008 and Vista)to no avail.What I really want to avoid is the need to have to store credentials separately on the workstation - it brings an unwelcome maintenance overhead and the possibility that if the provisioning user's password is changed, then the provisioning will unexpectedly fail on the production servers.Ideally once the provisioning user has logged onto the Vista Workstation, I'd like their credentials to pass through to the servers on the child domains (there are separate DNS and web servers) allowing them to manipulate whatever services (DNS, IIS7, file system) that are necessary.The solutions would seem to be something programmatic (whatever replaced CoInitializeSecurity?) or a Group Policy setting on the child domain may need altering to allow access.However being a humble software developer working out which of the myriad settings (one of the User Rights Assignments perhaps?) is outside my sphere of knowledge.The third alternative is to use Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) but I haven't done much with this yet and what I have indicates that this technology has its own security issues to accommodate.
If a user navigates to my webpage how can I programmatically determine they are accessing my page from within the Intranet? (Not interested in NTLM or Windows forms authentication. Need a programmatic method.)

It has to deal with LOTS of images (100's potentially) There will be the set of default images, and then the user created replacement images. I started loading all the defaults into a resx file... thinking then I could just pull them out. now that I started setting the default, this sucks! lol the app will do this, on load it will set all the images (variables) to the resx images then when a theme is loaded, it will replace the default with the user image (if the user img exists) otherwise, the default stays. Then the "screen" is drawn to show the user. so, here is just the images to build the wallpaper, dock, and status bar...

I was thinking to make an app to save images [or download images] to local hard disk. But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?

I can make the lights randomly flash using a randomGenerator and a Select case statement. However, the code is very long. There are 67 lights on this tree and the code is 71 pages long. There has to be an easier way to do this. So far I have tried the following with two images of lights just to see if it would work and it does not work:

How do I use those images in my Resources Folder in my solution explorer to set an image for a certain picturebox or form. I sorta need a code for it.

View 1 RepliesI have a VB.NET console application that must write a message onto a queue (resides on the mainframe). We have all the clustering and everything set-up by our admin. We already have an existing windows service that successfully listens to messages and also writes messages to various queues.I have basically re-used most of my code from the windows service project.But when I try to access the queue manager, I hit the exception "MQRC_HOST_NOT_AVAILABLE". The error log from the Websphere MQ folder says

I have an ASP.NET (C# Code-behind) code. I need the very same functionality in one of my VB 6.0 program. As the code is too complex, I don't want to replicate it in VB once again.
Now, is there any way to access my .NET code from VB?

I have a windows service on a server which accesses a folder and database which is on different server.i was told to create an .ini file and add the settings here. so i have to add the path to the folder and database in .ini file, correct?is there anything else which i should add in .ini file?is it compulsory to give the [section] in the .ini file?

What I want to do is have my vb .net program open ms word and put an address into the envelope wizard this way the user can go from there adjusting the envelope size etc. In ms word 2007 I have found that if you hit alt, then 'm' then 'e' it will open the wizard and put the cursor in the right place to type the 'to:' address.Current I can open word and put the address directly into the new document.Here is what I have so far:
