Simple Button That Executes A Shell Command

Oct 24, 2011

I haven't touched VB or Visual Studio in an incredibly long time, so I appologize if this sounds ignorant.

Right now, my application (pictured below) is a simple button that executes a shell command. I was thrilled that I even managed that, but it got me to wondering if my application could execute that command, rather than sending the process to cmd.exe.

Uninstall A Shell Context Menu Dll?

Nov 19, 2010

Ive created a shell context menu dll using the great example at [url]...

This dll can be included in a vb.net setup project and installs ok but upon uninstall Windows prompts the user to close explorer.exe for the uninstall to complete. If the user clicks ok then the windows GUI is lost and the user either needs to reboot or know how to run task manager and startup another instance of explorer.exe to get their desktop back.

Does anyone know how to go about uninstalling a context menu dll which is currently in use by explorer without ending the explorer.exe process.

Multiple Shell Context Menu Calls

Jul 12, 2009

I have a VB2008 music-player program with a listview that acts as a playlist. I created Windows Shell Context Menu entries in the registry for MP3 etc files, so if I right-click such a file in Windows Explorer it gives the option: Play in MyProg. If multiple files are selected in Windows Explorer and sent to be played in MyProg, the first one must be sent to the music player (part of same prog) and the others must be added to the playlist (listview). For this reason I must know whether a commandline call is just a single one or whether other context menu calls will follow.
