I'm encountering problems when i want to download files from my server to my clients. My client is able to connect to my server but it will never transfer the file over to my client and i am unable to solve it.
I am facing problem in asynchronous socket communication.
1)I wanted to perform connect(from client to server) operation on enter button and send the data whatever client want to send and disconnect from server. And again client should get connect to server whenever client wanted to send data. this is the mechanism.
i.e how to reuse the socket.
2)Again Server should able to send the data to client.
I would like to ask. I have several files on the server about 50 and I need to withdrawinto my PC and still create the folder "pack" when no longer needed vytvo ena.AleI'd put a couple of conditions.
I am using Peter Huber's POP3 client to connect to gmail and download messages. The inboxes being accessed are transactional inboxes used only for code-access. That is, a message comes in with a order file attached, code will process it and then delete the message. One stipulation of the code though was a DEBUG flag, which if set would prevent the code from deleting the message so that you can run the program again later without the debug flag and reprocess the message. So, in my code I have If Not Arguments.Debug Then pop.DeleteEmail(eid)
This works fine. Problem is, even when not deleting the message, running the program a second time will not re-retrieve the message, even though if I login to gmail and look at the inbox, it is still there. The only way I can get the program to see the message again is to forward the message back to the same inbox. But in Peter's code I do not see anywhere where he is keeping track of seen messages between sessions.
Is this something that is done on gmail's end? Refusing to deliver a message to the same client a second time? If so, is there any way I can change my gmail account so that it will always show all messages in the inbox to a client when retrieving the list of messages, even ones already "seen"? I don't see anything in the gmail settings screen.adding a method to send a RSET command to the server, as per this comment on the codeproject page.
they need to make some compare version between host version and client version.. and each 1 version different will download the file to the client..[URL]..with both example, how can i make a program in VB.NET just like i said just now?
I'm converting a bunch of FOXPRO / FOXWEB apps to ASP.NET.
The underlying DB is still foxpro (for the moment).
I am passing a table to some VB.NET code that I want to have converted to a CSV file and sent back to the client for download. And it works! Sort of ... It works sometimes, but at other times, instead of asking me if I want to download the CSV file, it just spews the file to the browser window. [code]...
I usually download file using following code:My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("url of the file","filepath to save the file")But recently I encountered a site that only allow file download if you click it from its site and not via direct downloading from vb.net code. How to download file from http server that requires a referral before allowing the download?
I have been reading through Atheists posts in regards to client-server and TCP client/server connection's. But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.
Ive been working recently on a chat. Ive been using FTP to comunicate through both forms but it need to constantly download the new data and make the application freeze. Even with a Backgroundworker. I want to download thousands of files from the web and save them locally. What is the most efficient way? It is important the failures timeout within 10 seconds.
Is there a better way to stream one stream into another? Maybe a smaller buffer, like 1024 bytes at a time, is more efficient for large files?
Dim w_req As System.Net.HttpWebRequest = CType(System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create("http://blah.blah.blah/blah.html"), System.Net.HttpWebRequest)

Reading a .txt file in VB.net. My file path is C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt.
This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?
We are creating a Who wants to be a millionaire style game in VB. Our server is pulling information such as questions and answers from a Access Database and sending them to the contestants (Clients). All transfer of information is directly from the server to each client. One of the "Life Lines" we want to use is "Ask a friend", where one client is able to Instant message another client for a short time to get help on the question.
I am writing a Windows Form program to automatically download and store generated PDF reports from a web site using the WebBrowser Control. The web site uses Ajax to link an icon back to the source aspx file which then returns a PDF file.
The problem I have is that the WebBrowser control brings up the File Save As dialog box when the PDF file is returned and I can find no way of handling this to cature and save the returned file. I have found other examples of how to manage this using the Navagating event to validate the extension of the file that is being accessed (e.g. [URL] and, if not an HTM, file then use the HTTP Web control to directly download the file. Unfortunately this will not work as the call references a .aspx page.
I like to compress the xmldata before the data is provided to the client as an excel file. I am trying to compress and deliver it as a .zip file. its not working Here's my code below. I tried compressing it, converting it to bytes etc etc. The issue with below code is, the XSL transformation is not happening properly and the output excel file is raw xml with some .net exception at the end. (that's what I see on the .xls file that's downloaded at the end) Before I started working on compression my below code was working fine that gives properly formatted excel file from the xml input. the excel file is so nice you can't even tell it was from XML.
i made downloader that will display the following items to the user. The Name of the file that the user is downloading The Url Were the file is being saved The Size of the file The speed at which the file is being downloaded And the Status. But the Problem is that the downloader can only download one file at a time. How can i make a multiple file downloader Which if the user wants to download 2 or 23 files he can.
I'm looking for a way to (easily, by preference ;)) create a download link to a file on a separate file server. The situation is as follows: the application I'm developing (asp.net 2.0 in vb.net but I have a similar issue in c#, either solution works for me) will be run internally for a company. As is good practice, the file storage and web application are on two separate servers.I basically need to be able to create a download link to a file, the only available URL i have to access the file is servernamefolder1folder2folder3file.txt (can be any sort of file)[code]Which doesn't work for obvious reasons. It used to be set up to write that file to the application path itself and that worked perfectly, but it isn't good practice and that's why I'm changing it (or trying to).I read solutions about creating a download page and then having a table in your DB which holds the links and returns the proper web URL for download but the time constraint I am faced with unfortunately doesn't allow me to develop that.
Assuming I can provide a string with the full filepath to the file like the above, what is the easiest way to just create a link that, when clicked, downloads the document? I have 0 admin rights in this environment. That really isn't helping me. Let's assume I am given the correct link like above and have the appropriate file access rights and such. The above example does work in IE, but not in Firefox and Chrome. IE converts it to a file://servername/... link which does what it's supposed to, but FF and Chrome both actively decided that this is unsafe and have disabled it from their browsers.

I have this code obtaining data from a sensor that is sending a string that contains 4 numbers separated by a tab and terminated by an end of line/ I am trying to use an asynchronous callback to get the data over TCP. That problem is that the callback function is not grabbing the complete string. Sometimes it will, other times it gets half in one retrieve and half in another. I need the callback to hold off until it gets a newline character.
