i want to build my own electronic circuit simulator which is use mathematical models to replicate the behavior of an actual electronic device or circuit. Simulating a circuits behavior before actually building it can i do that with vb.net is there any library that deal with simulation or something
View 6 RepliesI have a 3-axis robotic machine. But due to training purposes, i would like to create a simulator/emulator that act just like the 3-axis robotic machine. I want the simulator to be able to create its own virtual parallel port. So instead when i execute the coding that operates the actual 3-axis robot,whenever i send a trigger to my virtual parallel port, my simulator will start working. So my question is,
1) How to develop a simulator/emulator using Visual Basic.NET
2) How to access and create a virtual parallel port within my computer.

I've been working on a graphical simulator application using GDI. GDI is terrible for rendering what simple graphics I need, too much flickering and definitely not efficient. From what I have been reading GDI and GDI+ are pretty much out of date and what I should be using is Direct2D. But my problem starts when I cannot find ANY reference material to even begin coding. I found some examples for C++, but my little knowledge of C++ prevents me from implementing and translating it to VB2010. I have found someone on VBForums through a Google search that says he is starting a tutorial for Direct2D for VB2010 but I have yet to see anything happen.
All I am rendering are small circular shapes used for simulating cell growth, I have no problem rendering 10-20 moving shapes at a time with a small amount bearable flickering, but any more the lag worsens exponentially and the application will use a ridiculous amount cpu. Overall I want to be able to display and render over 100 shapes at a time. So my question is... Where can I find some reference material regarding Direct3D for VB2010?

A gyrocompass simulator? Basically i work with stabalized VSAT antennas that track a satellite around 30,000 K in the sky from a ship getting tossed around at sea. These antennas need to know where they're pointing so they can find the satellite, this is where the gyrocompass comes in. It tell the antenna how many degrees from north it is pointing.
I need a simulator to imitate the output of a gyrocompass on a ship that is moving around. The program would pass data out of the serial port so i could hook it up to the antenna and it would know where it is pointing when i am testing it.

Funny thing is that I feel sure this used to work fine (and there has always been a sprinkling of null values in the underlying data). And logically it looks fine to me. The check for HasValue and the AndAlso look as if they're going to shield us from any Null danger.But it seems suddenly they're not. Am I missing something?OK, we can correct it to this, which eliminates the error:
list = From x In Me Where If(x.FooDate.HasValue, x.FooDate.Value.Date >= barDate,False)
But this looks to me less readable. In simplifying the above code to shorten the line I left out a crucial chunk of the code. The original problem should have read something like:
list = From x In Me Where x.FooDate.HasValue AndAlso x.FooDate.Value.Date >= fromDate And x.FooDate.Value.Date <= toDate
Because of the rules of shortcircuiting and operator precedence (as outlined in an answer to a long ago question of my own) I needed to add brackets round the second part of the instruction in order to stop LINQ evaluating the second x.FooDate.Value.Date:
list = From x In Me Where x.FooDate.HasValue AndAlso (x.FooDate.Value.Date >= fromDate and x.FooDate.Value.Date <= toDate) LINQ really does obey AndAlso and force me to look more closely at the original problem.

I need to create a few visual controls to reside on my form.
1- Rotary Selector to rotate and select an option. (maybe up to 16 steps per rotation or 0 to 15.)
2- Rotary dial to act like a volume control. This actually selects a value between 0 to 255 or 0 to 1023. (is this too many steps?)
3- Bunch of selector push buttons to act like the old car radio selector? (pushing one resets the other buttons. Just like old car radios?)

I am trying to create a socket class in my project to send data to ecr (electronic cash register).Ecr comes with software that listens for commands on port 3535. Command are in forms of XML Files. It has only one catch, I must close the connection on socket, so the ecr would know when to process the command and respond. Since I only send one command at a time,I need the simplest solution I can get.
How it works:I create the socket and connect it to 192.168.1.67:3535 I start
client.BeginReceive
Then I send the command with
client.BeginSend
And I do a
client.Disconnect(True)
so I can get response from ECR.And in 8 of 10 times it works just fine. The problem is this few times it doesn't work.At that time I cant receive anything because it reports that the client is not connected in ReceiveCallback but it still manages to send the data to ECR just fine. The bill comes out on the ECR, but I get no answer about what happened.

It's playing in the background since the Form is hidden. When I play itin Debug, everything works fine. When I run the app outside Debug, I get this error: [URL] The Music File is there, but strangely, there comes this weird error.
I am making a program for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and When you are in Multiplayer in most games there is a Chat room, or Chat Box. Do you think that there is any way I can reach maybe an API or possibly monitor the Screen so If someone types !Help in the chat box my bot would Respond like "Software by (whoever) other commands" stuff like that. But I cant seem to find any info about API's in the Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK about Multiplayer Chatbox or any multiplayer functions in that matter.

Can you tell me how to test these events? My postbuild event, I believe calls a project file in the solution file that wraps files together in a bundle in debug mode. Can you tell me how the posbuild event works and when it is called?
View 2 RepliesI am using 2008 Express Edition. I am trying to make a Release build instead of a Debug build.Under Tools->Options, Projects and Solutions->General - I checked Show advanced build configurations. The option to switch configurations does not show up in the IDE.
After this, I went to the Project Properties->Compile and switched the Configuration from Active(Debug) to Release.After building, I looked in my project directory, however only in the Debug sub-directory was the .exe and nothing in the Release sub-directory.I have used Visual C++ Express Edition, where I noticed that if you do not change to Release in the IDE than after changing to Release in properties, resets the project to the last configuration setting which is usually Debug.how to make the Debug/Release box available in the IDE, since Tools/Options does not make it show up?
I just created a simple application. I Builded that using build->build myapp. I got .exe of that application. i runned. all went fine. but when i closed that app, even after closing it is in memory. it is still running. how to deploy it properly?
View 12 RepliesI am new here; say to everyone first.Here is the a question for coding list box; it has two part: first part: Create a project that stores personal information for a little electronic "black book"; the fields in the file should include name, phone number, pager number, cell phone number, voice mail number, and Email Address. allow the user to enter the data into text boxes. (This part is very easy, The trouble maker is in the second part).
second part: create a second project to load the names into a list box. perform a "Look Up" and display the appropriate information for the selected name. The second part should be very easy to someone here; please write codes, I have stuck in the second part for couple of hours.
I have some very simple questions about making a release build exe in vb.net using MS VB 2010 Express.
I realize that my project's executable is built in the bin/debug folder. However, when I copy this to any other location on my computer or someone else's, this executable does not function. I have read that I need to create a release build but in MS VB 2010 Express, when I use the Project-Properties menu and change the Compile tab configuration to Release and the path to binRelease, I still get the exe in the binDebug folder and not the binRelease folder.
1) Is it normal that exe's from the debug folder do not function outside of the debug folder?
2) Most importantly, if the release build produces a faster exe, could someone please explain step by step how to do this with MS VB 2010 Express ? I do not see any button on the compile tab in the project properties that actually builds the release.
I was able to build both debug and release versions of my VB code before now I no longer have the option to build a release version. How do I turn it back on
