Cannot Include A Reference

Jul 4, 2010

I've tried clicking on my_app --> New Reference --> Pick the DLL from my folder, then add Imports mydll.xxxx. Doesn't seem to work, keeps saying i need to fix the import xxx.xxxxx. I've checked in my References tab and see the reference name in there. I am looking at an example of how in the modules docs, and they have an vb app that uses it, and they use import xxx.xxxx when i try to do that, it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Include Reference Dll When Compiling Program?

Sep 14, 2008

I've made a program using Visual Basic Express Edition which references MySql.Data.dll (located at C:Program FilesMySQLMySQL Connector Net 5.2.3Binaries.NET 2.0MySql.Data.dll) which has been installed on my computer. But when I run my compiled program on a different computer (without MySQL Connector/.NET installed) I am unable to start the program as it gives me an error.

I'm wondering if there is a way to compile the dll with my program so that I wouldn't have to install MySQL Connector on the only computer it'll be executed on (I'm not sure if I have the privilege to install programs on it yet).Or is there a way I could import the dll at runtime which is located in the same directory as my .exe?

Set Up/reference/import/include/whatever The XAudio2 And XACT Libraries

Nov 22, 2009

I'm trying to implement the XACT engine in a VB.NET project. I'm pretty new to this stuff, but I can set up and use the normal DirectX libraries fine. However, I can't for the life of me work out how to set up/reference/import/include/whatever the XAudio2 and XACT libraries. All the dlls in the Aug2009 DX SDK say they can't be used as references in the project, and the only tutorials I can find are in C++ and use the .h headers, which, if I'm not mistaken, I can't use at all for VB.

I'm tearing my hair out over this because there literally seems to be no way that I can find to use the new sound stuff in VB! I'm imagining MS wouldn't actually allow that to be the case, so if someone can tell me what basic thing I'm doing wrong.

How To Change The .proj File To Include Reference Dlls When Doing An Auto Build With A Project

Aug 27, 2010

I have a simple vb.net project that outputs a dll. In order to build this project, I have to reference some 3 3rd party dlls by manually adding them to the project and then building.

What I want to do now is auto build this using a app called CruiseControl. . . I have been told that in order to use the 3 3rd party dlls, I have to modify the .proj file to include the .dlls. The thing is, where in the proj file do I include this
and how do I do this? I think I may know where the section is and I have included it here:

[code...]

When I run the auto build program it fails (it runs through but fails at compile time); when I build this manually it works when i refer the dlls. What am I missing to make this work?

C# - Add A Reference To Some Source Code To Include In A Source File In .net, Winforms?

Jan 26, 2010

I don't know what this is called so I've struggled to find an answer from google but I have a vague memory of it from t'old days.I've sub-classed (* see below) about 8 framework controls, overriden some properties and added some functionality into each one.The changes I have made are identical in every case. If I make a change, I have to go through each class and apply the same change there.I was hoping there may be a keyword such as <IncludeSourcefile "common.vb> that I can put into each class.

(* note) I use the term sub-classed but I don't know if that's the correct terminology. I've also seen it used for call-backs. Is sub-classed the correct term to use?

Error - Reference To A Non-shared Member Requires An Object Reference

Dec 7, 2010

I am opening frmB (variable for FormB - the actual form) from frmA. From btn1 I open frmB like this:

frmB = New FormB()
frmB.Show()

From btn2 (frmB is already open) I bring frmB to the front from behind frmA:

FormB.Show()
FormB.BringToFront().

No problem so far. Now I need to pass an arg to frmB. This is where I am having the problem.

from btn1 (in frmA) I do this:

frmB = New FormB(myArg) '--pass myArg to constructor of FormB -- no problem here
frmB.Show()

then from btn2 -- this is where I have the problem

FormB.Show()
FormB.BringToFront()

I tried placing myArg in FormB.Show(myArg) but that did not fix the problem. What is the correct way to pass myArg to FormB (frmB) in this scenario? Do I need to share FormB or frmB? How do I do this? "frmB" is frmA level variable.

.net - Dll Reference Count In A Circular Reference Situation In C# 4.0?

Sep 19, 2011

Iam maintaining a large code base I have inherited (ported from vb6 to C#.net 1.1, then to .net 2.0/c# and so on). I have this scenario.My main project references two DLLs - DLL-A and DLL-B

DLL-B references DLL-A. Both dll's and my main project are in 3 separate namespaces.

1) Are 2 copies of DLL-A being loaded in memory ? (dll ref count)

2) How do I find out how many copies of a .net dll is loaded in mem ? (which tool is normally used)
