Oct 7, 2009I am trying to read excel data (Excel 2007 SP1, on Windows XP SP3) with visual basic .net 2008 (VB 9.0 SP1). I have tried several attempts and whatever I do I am getting the following error message: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException was unhandled ErrorCode=-2147319784 Message="Altes Format oder ungültige Typbibliothek. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80028018 (TYPE_E_INVDATAREAD))" Source="Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" Message="Altes Format oder ungültige Typbibliothek." Translated: Old format or unknown type libraryI have added the reference "Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library" to my project. I am assuming that I might have to add a different or an additional reference, but I do not have any clue which one to use. List of things I have already done:- Searched other forums- Altered the language settings- Tried it on an other Computer (Win XP SP3, Excel 2007, Visual Basic 2008 Express)- Ran the diagnostics tool in Excel - Updated all updates etc...- Reinstalled Visual BasicI really do not have any clue why it should not work?

May 26, 2011VB.NET code to change Excel 2007 Column Cell Format from Text to a Number no Decimal.
Right now Column F shows values that look like

Manually changing it to a Number with No Decimal shows the correct value.

May 25, 2011I have the following code that needs to connect to my four spreadsheets for FileName(). I havent built the loop yet for the other three, but I am so used to working with a variable. Is this the best way (datatable) to get a single cell from a spreadsheet and if so how do I view the data once it is in the datatable? Ideally I would like myDataArray(3) to hold the 4 cell values. Please help. I am stuck. I want to be able to get the cell value $K2 form each sheet without invoking Excel. I think I am close, but dont know how to get the data from the table. These four cell values will be displayed and then emailed to our Country Director.

Sep 9, 2011this code was not done by me originally and there are some thigns here i dont quite understand i have altered it a bit from my coworkers code to suit my data and it works. but too slow. and when i have 4000+kb excel files it might freeze altogether. ( I have checked tho that when and after this transposer runs it will still be within the excel row limit, i had done calculations before and made a macro to automatically split excel files based on number of columns and rows to make sure this is so ). This code seems to start out fast then goes slower the longer it runs. at least this is what it seems liek to me.

Feb 23, 2010Is there another way to easily make a POST request in .NET other than the WebRequest class? I have a very, VERY small piece of data I need to post: password=theword but WebRequest randomly, and I mean randomly, drops the data when posting to my server. I've tested it by using a chunk of code from my server that dumps the request to a console, and I can that the client is sometimes sending and sometimes not sending the POST data.The code that I'm using that uses WebRequest works in another project, when talking to IIS. The server being talked to (a minimal web server in another system) responds properly every time I POST data to it through Firefox. I've got a function in the same project that fires off a GET request, and that works. It just seems like my POST function isn't completing the transaction...something I've noticed in the past when asking WebRequest to handle small strings.[code]

Nov 13, 2009how I can use excel 2003 and excel 2007 on my application. I add a reference to Excel 12.0 Object but this one is not compatible with Excel 2007 and i think if i add Excel 11 Object it will not run on excel 2007.
