Is there any way to change the sound MessageBox makes when it appears? I've written a Hangman game that displays a message box when a player wins, loses, hits an invalid key, or presses the same key twice and it always makes the same sound.

Basically i'm trying making a task manager program for myself. I want to know how I can display a message box and or play a sound when system time = time displayed in listview. I have used a dropdown box for the user to select which option they would like to select - sound or message box to popup. The data for the task will be stored in a listview box. I want it so that when the date and the time is = to the date and time set for the reminder the action will follow.Here is my code so far:

When editing my code in vb.net, my cursor is a flashing box and it makes it difficult to change one character. I would like to get the i-beam back instead of the flashing box when editing code. Can't seem to find a setting anywhere.

how to change the text on the messagebox buttons.
For example, Yes and No buttons to Do and Don't etc.
I wan't to play a sound whether its the wav playing from within or a speech voice and to select a different output device other than the default. some programs allow me to output its sound on my other devices such as headsets while PC speaker plays something else.

View 2 RepliesWith a steady tone feeding my audio input jack, the VU meters jump and bounce about 30%. I can also see the problem in the byte array of the capture buffer. I am running 8 bit mono so there isn't a chance that I'm getting a byte swap in a 16 bit word. My on board sound card is "Realtek HD Audio Input", direct sound 1.0.2902.0 and XP. Here is the real kick in the head, if I run anything that captures sound using the winmm library or if I use the winmm library in my application along with direct sound, the meters become stable. No errors are reported. Although I have written this in vb.net, I download another persons application that was written in C++ that uses direct sound with the same bouncing meters. I used the VU meters in Audacity to look at my audio levels and they are stable.

View 1 RepliesI have 1 messagebox which has 2 buttons (MessageBoxButtons.YesNo) usually we can change the focus of the button(yes and No) with tab key and we also can trigger the button with enter key.. but sometimes, i can't change the focus with tab key and can't trigger the button with enter key.i think the messagebox lost its focus..i have to click the form, so the messagebox will regain its focus how to set focus for messagebox?

Is there a way to generate a pure tone (e.g. 440 Hz) for a specified period of time through the sound card without using having to find or make a separate .wav file for each tone.I tried using the "Beep" function, but while it produces the tone for a specified period, it sounds broken up into a (probably 500ms) time frame which repeats with an audible space between the repetitions.

View 1 RepliesI have a data driven application in <acronym title="Visual Basic">VB</acronym> which works with an SQL Server 05 Database.Since this app makes use of many queries and commands, occasionally i'me getting a timeout error as the connection pool is full. So i figured that at a specifc point in time within the app,i'll clear the connection pools using the ClearAllPools method rather than increase max pool size.
I'm using the performance monitor on my XP development machine (NumberOfPooledConnections) however not once do i see the number of Pooled Connections reset to 0 even when that method is called.How can I determine that my solution is working (if it is) before I deploy the update?
