I am developing a subject plotter program for enrollment (but not an enrollment system), I use a database to store retrieve/store and update data. What my problem is that I have 2 listview, one that holds the chosen subject, and the other display's the offered subjects. How can I compare a specific item in the listview from another?

I'm using VB.NET with .NET 2.0. I have two lists, and I want to compare the lists on a specific property in the object, not the object as a whole, and create a new list that contains objects that are in one list, but not the other.

View 7 RepliesOk, so I have a listview on one form, and when a button is pressed it opens up a new form with the contents of the selected listview item and it's subitems in a series of textboxes. The user can then change the data in the textboxes and either press save to make the changes or cancel to close the window. What command would I use to change the selected listview item and subitems to whatever is in the boxes?

I have a media browser program I am building. I am trying to use drag/drop so a user can drag media tracks from one listview to another listview and then use the second list view as a playlist in windows media player com object. Reading at MSDN I have found out that there is no built in support for item re-ordering with the listview control. I have listview1 working correctly but when I try to reorder items in listview2, the dragged item ends up at the end of the list. So basically I need to get the item insertion index corrected. I have tried more than 10 times to get this code right.

Is it possible to define my list of strings like in 'good old' VB60, to use only on ebyte of memory for each character? .NET always seems to store any string as unicode, which doubles the required memory. The case is that I have a huge list of strings, all of the same size. It is about 50.000.000 items, 12 characters each. You can imagine I am running out of memory in no time. I tried converting them to arrays-of-bytes but in that case I loose the possibility to perform a "LIKE" statement in a FOR-EACH loop to check for a specific item.

I have one listbox an import button and a save button. Basically the import button allows the user to select photos and he list box then shows the directory for them. Is there a way to save the image that has been selected to a different place? whilst at he same time changeing the file name.e.g. the list box would have the directory like this "c:documentspicturesimage1.jpg" I would then like to save this file like such "c:desktop est103.jpg"

I know i can use linq but as i understand this is inefficient. If m_batchs is a large list of objects then i will looping through this list many, many time (as linq behind the scenes loops through the object collection).
