Converting Date And Time Format To Date?

I have a problem. I'm making a alarm clock and I need a way of converting a "dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss" format into a date time format. This means I'll be able to compare the dates in a listbox using the for each function, to the current date and see whever it has passed and therfore the alarm should be deleted. It is currently in a string form so I can't use < and > to compare it to the current date as that is in a date form. I've tried using CDate but it doesn't work as it only will convert these formats:
"August 12, 2004", "2:07:30 PM" and "August 12, 2004 2:07:30 PM"

I am attempting to import data in a batch from an Excel Worksheet to a Sql Server database. Everything works except for the one date field in the spreadsheet. The date returned is off by four years from the value in the spreadsheet. Example: The Excel sheet has a date 10/24/2010 14:18, but when I look at the column in my query, the date is 10/23/2006 2:18. This pattern, 4 years and 1 day earlier, is repeated for every row in the worksheet.
The Excel column comes to me as a custom type, formatted m/d/yyyy h:mm. I receive this from an outside vendor and having them change the column is not going to be my simplest solution.
For what it's worth, the relevent part of the query is:
Select [Date Created] From MyWorksheet

I have a date entered in from at DateTimePicker (dtDate.Value) and am writing it to an access database. This insert code works without the date, but not with it.

I'm creating a VB app that uses the Infragistics UltraGrid to display data from 2 JD Edwards files. Before the data is displayed, first I need to convert 2 date fields that are in JD Edwards Julian date format (i.e., 111158 for 6/07/11....the 158th day of this year) to mmddyy format.

I'm having some trouble converting the format of a date in .NET 2008...
Dim currMonth As Date
currMonth = Format(Now, "mmm")
From this code, I need to extract today's date in the format of "mmm" (so it should return.. "Apr")This worked in vb6 but not in .Net, I keep getting some sort of conversion error.. I looked at using theformatdatetime option but it doesnt have the format that I need... only short date/long date...that kind of thing.

I have a listview that displays date and time from a range that is set from combo boxes: "Start Date" and "End Date".
Then I am printing a block that display Cycle time. This cycle time is coming from "Start Date" and "End Date". I want to change the format of the item displayed in list view after it is printed in the print block in the format as "mm-dd-yyyy".

In Access, PurDate is 1/1/1900 but in date time picker it's shown as 01-01-2000. At this time, short date format of system regional setting is like

I'm updating an old VB net application and trying to refactor some of the logic as I go. The app looks for data from a single date across a few tables and writes that view to a file.
Writing the query in SQL I'd get the equivalent of
SELECT * FROM table
WHERE CAST(FLOOR(CAST(table.date AS float))AS datetime) = '15-Jul-2010'
Ideally I'd use
SELECT * FROM table WHERE date=@input
and add a date object as a parameter to a System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand instance
Are those two comparable? Will I get the results I expect?

I am using VB 2008 and want to record a start date and time and then the stop date and time in a rich text box, i can get the start time into the box but so far can only stop the time instead of 2 seperate times, what i have is a drop down box with a list of computers 1-10 i was trying to get it so you picked a certain computer and that went into the text box then you started the timer and that was recorded, finally you stopped the timer and that was recorded but as i am a total newbie it does not work

When using INSERT INTO statement to SQL 2008 R2 to a column with data type as date and the data I am taking from a DateTimePicker control with date format as short. When my system date format short set to dd/MMM/yyyy the INSERT INTO statement is working perfectly but when the system date format short set to dd/MM/yyyy I am getting the above error.I tried by changing the control format to custom and dd/MMM/yyyy but still the same error is coming.I am using VB2010 and SQLExpress 2008 R2 SP1?

here is an sql query statement i run in vb.net. i keep getting the error of "Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string." whenever i try to execute this. the datatype of filing_date and approvale_date is "text" but the deyt variable is originally Date, converted to string: (Date.Today).ToString, like so. nulll is simply a variable with vbNullChar as its value.
