Copy A Control On A Form But Past Border?
Aug 8, 2010
Is it possible to copy a control that is on the form but also runs off th the form because it is bigger than the form and screen? If I have the height and width of an area I want to copy that runs off the form, any way to grab it? The form will not be minimized and will be the focused program. When i click a button I want to do this. Either copy to clipboard or even just save as an image. I can even have the handle to the control if that is needed.

I've got a usercontrol that's a simple rectangle with three labels on it. It's essentially triggered to give a caption to an image when the mouse is moved over it. As I feared, adding the control to the form (or any container on the form) restricts drawing the control to the region defined by the container. I tried increasing the region of the form and the container, but it still didn't draw outside the container.
So my question is: Is there a way to make the control display partially inside the container/form and partially outside it, or is there a better object type that will do what I want?

I am still messing around with Cntrl/Copy and Paste from a menustrip. Paste is working fine. The copy is working to a certain extent. It will copy the complete text field from one control to another. how do I determine what is the selected text only. My code below:
Private Sub CopyToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles CopyToolStripMenuItem.Click
Dim activeChild As Form = Me.ActiveMdiChild ' Determine the active child form.
Dim activeControl As Control = activeChild.ActiveControl

I have some experience of using paypal with an asp.net website, however this issue has me really stumped.Root of the problem: You cant embed the html form for the paypal button inside your page form.
Original solution: Originally my website was using multiple aspx pages so I could simply arrange my form tags so that they weren't embedded inside one another. My website now uses a master aspx page which draws in different ascx controls. This means that I do not have the option of arranging the form tags around the page so need a work around.
NB. I have looked all over the place for simple solutions but it is a jungle out there, paypal is a nightmare. I did find something on ghost form which is all in c#.

I am setting my Winforms Button control properties to appear as a hyperlink would on a web page. I've formatted everything fine, except the border in the FlatAppearance object. I have code to act as pseudo-CSS (FormBackColor is a string constant.):
b.FlatStyle = FlatStyle.Flat
b.BackColor = ColorTranslator.FromHtml(FormBackColor)
b.ForeColor = Color.Blue
[code]....
The code removes the border from the flat Button control except on MouseOver, where I add a 1 pixel border. On MouseLeave, I remove the border. This is to show some visual feedback. This works fine when the button does not have the focus. However, if I click on the button, giving the button focus, mousing out and over again now shows a greater than 1 pixel border around the button. I'm imagining it's combining my button's explicit 1 pixel border with the traditional "Winform Button has the focus, so add a border" border around the Button.How can I disable/remove the "Winform Button has the focus, so add a border" border? Or, should I just do a check in ButtonMouseOver to check if the control has the focus, being a condition of adding the border, and just be done with it?

Is there a way to set the border style of a Group control ? To my disappointment I can't see such a property ,unlike in VB6 .This is important because it allows the users to create a variaty of frames . I also tried the Panel control ,but that does not have the Text property ...

I've got a couple of instances of a user control on a flowlayoutpanel. The user control has got a couple of controls on it, and very little / almost none of the control's original space is visible. I need to know when the mouse is inside the usercontrol. What then happens is that the border color changes (of a control in the user control), and when it leaves the control, it changes back to original state.
I tried the following:
Private Sub ctrDashboardWidgetFrame_MouseEnter(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.MouseEnter
Try
ShowControls()
Catch ex As Exception
[Code] .....
And it works, but it only works when you move over the original visible space of the user control, and doesn't work when you move over the child controls inside the user control. How I'll be able to achieve this to also work while the user is inside the full user control and not just it's visible space?

I have searched on this but I keep finding people trying to keep others from moving forms. And also nothing in the code bank.
Here is what I am making. I am making a tournament overlay program that tracks current players progress for shoutcasters (displays their name, race, score, color, ect).
I have a control panel that will change all that information on another form, the borderless one, that will "Always be on top" of the game displaying information.

If a form has its form border style set to None, how would you go about moving it?
I thought that this would work:
Private Sub Form1_MouseDown(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles MyBase.MouseDown
Me.Location = MousePosition
End Sub
but it doesn't.
