I have a profile program, were you enter in your personal data such as name, address, phone, company, website, ect, then when you save it, it saves to a file extension like *.pdt, then I can open the file with the extension *.pdt, and all the text fields saved in the *.pdt appear in there correct text fields.

View 2 RepliesI have searched a lot regarding my problem but no solution so i am posting here to get advise from the experts.I am making a windows form application , and using Sql compact database.My Problem :When i am inserting records in the database using code (run time) they are inserted deleted , update and i can see them updated,inserted,deleted in my application , but when i close the application and start again only a few times they are changed, once a million :). Else i again see blank database ,or if i directly put values in the database from the solution explorer Visual studio 2010 , they stay there forever. I am using simple update,insert ,delete statement but not sure why the changes made to database disappear when i close the application.

I am using VB 08 running an openfiledialogue wanting to get the result of the GDS file (*.gds) to be the default extension at the drop down menu instead of All file when the openfiledialogue box opens.
I coded it with:

Why would I use an extension method instead of just creating non-extension sub or function?
For ex, I could have an extension function called IsNullOrEmptyOrAllSpaces on String, which does a check as its name implies. Or I can write a stand alone function that does the same thing. P.S - I believe the reason it doesn't have an extension is because the picture changes each time the url is loaded (probably through a php code). I'm not too sure on the specifics, but the lack of an extension is what I am having problems with.
I am trying to copy a file from one location to other by clicking on a link label.the original file is saved at "D:\New Folder\" and the complete address of the file is stored on the link label.whenever i click on the click label, a form appears with three button Open, Save as, and cancel file is opening normally but when i click on save as , save as dialog box appears normally, but after entering the file name when i click on save button, file is saved on the destination but without any extension.
