For my project i want to i want to export form data to a new database so that i can send it by attaching it to email.
what i want that on click of a button
1) create .mdb file at c:est*.mdb, with the name = "textbox1.text"
2) create table, name = "demo" with column "id" and "job No"
and then i can use insert command to fill the data in the table and email it to client.
I am trying to write codes for new user to fill in the form, then the new data will add into my database.

There is no error encountered, however, the adding is failed and no new data can be add in.
I am unable to fill data in the OleDbDataAdapter I get an OleDbException with the following message Syntax error in FROM clause.at this line adapter.Fill(dataset, "User")

I am trying to fill a datagridview with data from a SQL database.The dgv will print rows and values where each row is a different category.

Why does it only print all the rows for each DS (different sizes/colors) only if there are more then one DS? (if there is only 1 DS it will only print one row, regardless of different colors/sizes but if there is 2 DS, it will print all the values from the first DS)I have gotten a massive headache from trying to figure out these 2 problems. If any1 can help I would be very grateful. Please let me know if you need anymore info (SQL tables, data), and I'll put them up.

Doing this code the data is added up in the combobox dropdown list. But when I am selecting a data from the combobox dropdown list,the all the corresponding data of the other combobox also get filled automatically. I don't want to let the other combobox filled with their data automatically....

View 1 RepliesI have used VB (versions 2 - 6) through many years; however, I am crash-course training myself into the VB2008 / VB2010 world kicking a screaming. I would like suggestions as to what SQL database access method should I focus more on in my learning process without making me feel that I'm a million years behind. I know I have WinForms where I can create a datasourse and drag / drop fields or tables on a form to create a grid (not really what I'm looking for).
My trouble isn't so much designing the form but in how I access the database. Theres XML, LINQ to SQL, ADO.NET, and many other methods. Not only do I need to grasp these methods quickly but I also need to know what type of projects I should create. What I mean is...I was thinking that I would design a WinForm app; however, I see that there are WPF apps and others to chose from. This is getting deep. I know it depends on the project that I'm working on. My plans are to write an app based off of either an SQL Express 2008 or SQL Server 2008 database. This first app will be standalone for now but may later become multi-user. I know I'm far behind on my learning curve coming from VB6. I have read a bit on VB2005 / 2008 / 2010. I own
both VB2008 and VB2010. I use VB2008 at work. I know ADO.NET is still alive but by what I read online, it's a dying method and is only kept for backward compatibility. XML and LINQ to SQL and other methods are all pretty new to me.
i have datagridview populated with stock code, name and description.And i have docked my datagridview to the bottom. so whenever the form is resized, the bottom section will be occupied completely with the datagridview.But i want to display one extra empty column and multiple empty rows to completely fill in the datagridview.The extra empty column width will be adjusted to the right end side of datagridview.And the no of empty rows will be generated based on how many is required to fill up to the bottomSo that i can create datagridview with full column and row even though some columns or rows are empty.

I am very new to VB, and I have been able to create many applications using forms, but I have absolutely no history creating reports. I have been reading up on the reports, and it looks like they are designed to use with data sources like tables. I merely want to take either data from the entry form, or from data derived internaly from processing the user entered data and populate a defined report "form". I have been searching, but there is so much on printing reports, that I feel overwhelmed. I am not looking for the exact answer as much as a link or place to look for a sample for what I want to do.

I've tried putting MyBase.ShowDialog() and .Show() and .9000+ other things The only benefit I've got out of using a seperate thread to load from the databse is i can see the screen right away (as oppose to it being a transparent box until it loads) but i cannot move it around or minimize it?is there any way to make it Movable while it loads?
I created a SQL database using the migration tool.I am converting my access forms to VB.net (VS2008).I am wondering if I create a single dataset in studio to the database or do I create a dataset for each form (query)? I am trying to determine what the best solution is. Many of my forms have drop downs that are populated using queries from tables.

In Visual Studio, I am attempting to create a Data Connection to a database in SQL server. Server Mgmt Studio is not running. When I attempt to add a connection in Database Explorer, to the AdventureWorks _Data database, I get the message "This file is in use. Enter an new name or close the file that's open in another program." There are no programs running except VB, except maybe for the SQL Server engine running the background.Please note that I can open and access tables within a database in code

View 3 RepliesI working on a program that I am trying to create a customer data form.Along with the form I have their vehicles related to that record.Now I have setup a dataset in the form.I am pulling data from the database, however when I enter a new record on the customer part the customerID is in the running order, everything seems to be working on in this table.But when I create a vehicle for this customer I have a running vehicle id.Example: I have in the database 4 customers.IDs 1,2,3,4 customer 1 has vehicle ID1,2.customer 5 has a car there 1st car but the database gives is a ID of 3.I want this customer to ID 1 for car one.My problem might be because it was set in the database as Unique Identifier.Maybe I should make the license plate the unique identifier.
