I'm trying to emulate the possiblitys of what windows does to try and locate a find and I'm kind of stuck on 2. The current directory for the parent process. I'm guessing if you execute it from cmd.exe it would check c:windowssystem32 folder cause that would be the parent process and that is its folder, but if you double clicked, seems to set the working directory to the path where the exe is located.
I have some code below that works mostly in vb.net but when it gets to ExtHubPort and after it doesnt work i think i might have incorrect formatting of code somewhere or a simple error because if I get it the same sounds as the vbscript except when mouse device is plugged in it gives me this error in device manager: "device could not start error 10". Here is the code but to plainly put it the code just adds an emulated external usb hub to the system's hub and then usb device to that hub:
Option Explicit On Imports System Imports Microsoft.Dsf Module Test_Emulator
[Code]...
The msgbox's mark important areas that will help if you wish to debug this code. I have a codeplex page in which the project has the dlls for both 32-bit and 64-bit OS's but if you have the dsf runtime you can manually get them from the GAC (c:windowsassembly version and yes im sure because thats where i found them) and just paste into visual studios public assmeblies folder and it
I found the following example of how to print a root directory on the net Code: Sub Main() Dim Current As String Dim Root As String Current = Directory.getCurrentDirectory() Root = Directory.GetDirectoryRoot(Current) Root = Directory.GetDirectoryRoot("") Console.WriteLine("Current directory {0}", Current) Console.WriteLine("Root directory {0}", Root) End Sub However it just causes the error "name directory not declared"
I had originally saved the project I was working on to my desktop, but now I have moved the folder to another location on my hard drive (didn't want it on my desktop anymore).
But since I've moved it I get the message:
The working directory does not exist: 'C:old folder locationResources'.
Is there a simple way to update my project to the new folder location?
when you start a new projekt, vs2010 makes a new folder for the projekt. when i reach a certain point in my projekt i want to save that version of the projekt.
what i do is make a new folder and copy that projekt to it. projektfolder2 . when i start the projekt in the new folder the sln doesnt work anymore. the vbproj works then. and vs 2010 makes a new sln file one directory down of the old one between the other projekt files.
I am currently working on a project, which requires to download files from the internet and copy them to certain directory's... I've done the downloading part but I can't seem to get the directory working. The directory is "special" E.G. Appdata Program Files etc., and well when I tried just using %appdata% it seemed to create a new directory NAMED %appdata% rather than actually goto appdata...
My website is in the root directory, which is [URL]. I am using this:
Dim appPath As String = HttpContext.Current.Request.ApplicationPath Dim directory As String = appPath & "/upload/" & Left(TableName, 2) & "/"
to get the path and it's working very well. But when I create a new sub-folder and copy some pages from the root directory into the sub-folder, my images are not displayed because the path has changed. This is the link from the page in the root directory:
I'm trying to copy a file (pdftk.exe) from the Current Working Directory the VB.NET program is in.The file is to be copied to the Selected Path from the Folder Dialog Browser.I tried this code, but it seems it's not working
Imports System Imports System.IO Public Partial Class MainForm
I'm trying to validate signons against Active Directory. When I execute my function from my Computer at home that is VPN'd to my office, it works fine. When I execute the exact same code on my machine at the office, I get the following error: "The server is not operational"My code is as follows:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim strDomain As String = "MyPDC"
I am working on a GUI for a simulation program. The simulation program is a single .exe which is driven by an input file (File.inp placed in the same directory). The Original.inp file functions as a template from which the form reads all the values into an array. Then it changes these values reflecting the changes done by the user in the form. After that it writes all the new values to File.inp. By pushing the "Run" button the Simulation.exe file is executed. The folder structure looks like this:
[Code]..
Ideally I would supply only the GUI, the user would select the working directory and then the GUI.exe would create an input folder and extract the Original.inp and Simulation.exe in the appropriate locations. So far I have only managed to include Original.inp and Simulation.exe as "EmbeddedResources" in my VB project and I have let my code create an input folder in the working directory chosen by the user.
how I can extract the .inp and .exe file into the correct directories? I've searched on google, tried File.WriteAllBytes and Filestream.WriteByte but did not get the desired results. The problem with File.WriteAllBytes was that I could not point to the embedded resource ("Simulation.exe is not a member of Resources" and with Filestream.WriteByte I got a 0 kb file.
I've got an application that has a bug right now, but we're unable to update the end-user to get the fix out. What a possible workaround would be is to change the working directory to the application's install directory, but from what I can tell, there's no way to do that outside of the program itself.
I am new bie in Scripting world.I wrote a script in vb 2008 to query active directory information.Even though the script task executes successfully when i tried toretrieve records from the object variable using for loop container in ssis it gives an error the object variable doesnt have valid data n it.i suspect that i am facing errors in assigning the result set to the package variable declared as object. Please could someonehelp by having a look whether the data will be assigned correctly according to my script.i am trrying to pass the information queried from ad to package variable gvresults described as object.
I'm creating a simple .NET console application where I want to save a file in a folder that's part of the root project, like so: SolutionName.ProjectNameTestData. I want to put test.xml into the TestData folder. However, when I go to save my XDocument, it saves it to SolutionName.ProjectNameinx86Debug Console est.xml.
In vb.net how do you check if a ANY directory exists inside a directory I would need to know if there is a folder inside the c:windows directory (WITHOUT knowing if there is ANY directory is in there).
copying the file from one Directory to another directory by create the folder if that folder is not exists in destination directory.Example:
Source path: C: emp est1.txt destination path: C:Data if C:Data doesn't contains "temp" or "test" folder, it should create the folder before copy the 1.txt.[code]....
I'll tell you what I'd like to do which is to create a directory listing of every file inside a specified directory and then use a loop to upload each file in this directory to a remote folder via FTP.
I'm trying to get files from a directory and all the sub directory's to show in a checked list box. This is my first time working with arrays?here is the code
Public Class add_to_play_list 'IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory & "\x"' Dim Home As String Dim Fi As New ArrayList
[code]....
I have a sansa fuze and i have to make my own playlist for it so i want to have the program read the songs that are on there and show it to you in the list box and you can check off the ones you want then it will read the mp3 files to make the playlist, it needs the path, name, and duration from the mp3 file. i can get the name and the path so far...
I am trying to create a new user and set their password in AD LDS using asp.net vb. I'm binding to an instance of a directory entry, which is working fine. And I can add a user without a problem. The problem is that I can't seem to set the password when I add the user.Is this the right way to set the password
Is it possible (I'm sure it is) to validate a user's credentials against Active Directory without using Directory Services?I'm building a Browser-Based WPF application which requires users to login to and get validated via Active Directory. Since .Net 4.0 (or maybe 3.5) accessing Directory Services from an Application requires the application to be fully trusted. Since IE won't provide full trust to an application if it doesn't have the signing certificate in it's cert store, the application is refused startup permission.
If I don't use Directory Services, then I can leave the application as Partial Trust and validate my user's credentials without having to install a certificate on each user's machine.
I have a straight-forward task I'm attempting to accomplish. I have the mechanics down, and need to hammer out the details but I'm stumbling across one small point. :)
This script is supposed to take the files in the local C:Temp directory, and copy them to a selected user's shared directory on the file server.
Protected Sub btnCopy_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnCopy.Click My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyDirectory("C:Temp", "\MAVERICKVOL1Users" & ddlName.SelectedValue & "DESKTOPRECORDINGS", True) End Sub
This script does indeed work (and I'm aware I need to create exception handling) but it only copies what contents are on the server's directory of C:Temp rather than the local source directory.
I'm using VB.NET/ASP.NET to achieve this.
How am I able to direct my function to use the local user's directory rather than the remote server?
I am attempting to compare two directory trees. I have the program map the network drive and copy a directory. I need it to verify that the files copied successfully by comparing the source to the destination. If comparison returns equal then perform action1, if comparison returns unequal then perform action2.
In my asp.net page I'm making a copy of a file from my local drive to the server.[code]But when I run this code asp.net throws an exception:But I can browse to this file easily.
I am going to need to create a windows form for work that we can connect to a database table, select a directory and move files from the directory that are in the table and move to another folder. The directory will have sub directories that I need to search for the file name and move. I would like to have the table hold the file name (or path) and move all files that are in the database. There might be 20 files or 1000. Depends on the client we are processing for.
I have a really quick question. I want to get the "tree" of C:\, I am thinking of starting cmd.exe with a few parameters - but how do I set the "working directory" to "C:\"? I guess I could try MSDN, but I doubt I'll find a clear answer there.
This code uses the application startup path as a working directory:
CODE:
I want to get the "tree" starting from C:\. Is it possible to give it two or more commands in a row? I was thinking of just cd..ing, I guess I could sendkeys to it too, but that would just be super inefficient. If there is a way to get the whole "tree" using VB.NET - that would work as well. I've never used a background worker before - is this a good situation to use it in?
First off a short background of the project I am working on- I am developing a program that will be run off removable media (i.e. USB Flash drive). This will be a virtual desktop which you will be able to take with you and have the same desktop on any system. As we know drive letters can change with each host system the drive is plugged into, I need to be able to determine the path for the flash drive and access a specific folder ( i.e. My Documents)
I have an picture box(representing the icon) placed on my form (form1) and when I click the icon I want to be able to open and view the a specific folder from the portable drive. I need a click event that will determine a dynamic drive letter for a directory on the removable drive and then open that directory in an explorer window.
