DB/Reporting :: Open Access File Using VBA In Excel Gives 2147467259 Error
May 12, 2011
I am new to this and have almost 0 programming knowledge. I want to automate transferring data from excel spreadsheet to access. i surfed around on the net to see if there were examples of codes that i can copy.this is what i currently have.
I'm developing a chart that is frecuently updated.This chart works with a macro to display the period of time the user wish. The worksheet is protected because it can't be edit by the user. The user can just enter the dates between the period that he wants to be display by the chart. When I use the file on Excel 2003 its runs without any problem. But, when I use it on Excel 2006 or 2010 it gives me the following error:
Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':Method 'MinimumScale' of object 'Axix' failed
Im looking to set up a VB.Net application that allows me automatically import files from Excel into an Access Database. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I will be importing files regularly so I would like to make an application to simplify the process. Would I be better off creating a Macro that I can reuse in Access or a VBA or?
The last line throws an exception "Cannot open file" with certain end-user profiles. It works perfectly fine when executing from an Admin account. I just cannot figure out what user privileges and access settings may cause the error. Note that it also works with some end-user accounts (not admins). What missing user rights can cause this?
I have been developing a VB6 app for 4 years. Just this week I cannot make an EXE file. When I try to make an EXE (from the command line or the IDE), I get the message System error &H80004005 (-2147467259) Unspecified error
I am trying to open an Access file but so far I am not succeeding. [Code] I receive following error: Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user. I am sure the file is not open and I tried already to add in the connection string: ;User ID=User and / or Jet OLEDB:System database=C:SYSTEM.MDW; at the and but without result.
Possible Duplicate: Access Denied in SQL 2008 EXPRESS?I have create my code in order to write images in a remote sql server All the details of accessing and writing are fine until now, including the system account right now i'm in the command of:
SqlFileStream = New SqlFileStream(filePathName, fileToken, FileAccess.Write)
and when i'm trying to execute it the Server returns the error 'Access denied' I have try all the posible ( those which i know) combinations to overcome this error but nothing Please give me the best assistance you may have I've put a sniffer in my PC to lookup the packages between Server and my PC, so here what i got: the first addres is the Server address and the second is my PC address.
I dare to say that this error comes from the Windows program when the SQL 2008 tries to write some DATA to the filies which creates on C:sqlRemData.....
ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source='" + fileName + "'; Extended Properties=Excel 5.0" Dim ExcelConnection As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection ExcelConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(ConnectionString)
Error occurs on line ExcelConnection.Open()External table is not in the expected format.
We are getting this error on one PC every time we turn on any add-ins in Excel. Googling the issue has not produced any useful results nor has searching the Microsoft KB. The problem occurs when any add-in is turned on in Excel even those that come with Excel (like the Euro conversion tool). The problem began when the user was having issues with Outlook not working with his profile. I first tried a 'repair' of the Office install (which created this problem, but did not solve the other.) I solved the Outlook issue by creating a new profile for the user. I have since uninstalled Office entirely and reinstalled.
I'm creating a small application that will export the record from database to excel format (.xls) and import the record from excel as well. i have this code below i dont if this the right approach but im getting the error. Im using emulator btw. error :"The process can not access the file 'My Documents est1.xls' because it is being used by another process." Code: I'm still figuring out about import function any ideas?
I used Visual Studio 2005. It works well when testing, but when I publish it got error: Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file 'D:OfficeStationaryV0.2ReportTMPReportItem.xlsx'. There are several possible reasons: - The file name or path does not exist. - The file is being used by another program. - The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.
my following code is:
Dim ExcelApp As New Excel.Application Dim xlWorkBook As Excel.Workbook
Whether I am using VB 2008 Express or VS 2010 Beta 1 Visual Basic, I get the same error: "Debugging information for 'EXCEL.EXE" cannot be found or does not match. Cannot find or open the PDB file" I have filled in the Debug Tab information: Start external program: C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12Excel.exe
I tried to read excel file using the method i found here [URL] But i get an error on ADODB.Connection saying "Type 'ADODB.Connection' is not defined" in the following code:
Code: Private Function GetExcelConnection(ByVal Path As String, _ Optional ByVal Headers As Boolean = True) As Connection Dim strConn As String
[Code]....
Its was used in VB6... do i need to do something special in Visual Studio 2010?
I can't open an Access database on a mapped drive. However it works if I use the UNC path. how I can get this to work? See the code below for an example of what works and what doesn't...
Code: mConnString = "provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=\tiger-2000dvb_mt7MTrackBE.mdb" ' This works mConnString = "provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=T:vb_mt7MTrackBE.mdb" ' this does not work Dim objConn As New OleDbConnection(mConnString)
[code].....
The error message I receive is...'T:vb_mt7MTrackBE.mdb' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.I've done the obvious and verified that t:vb_mt7MtrackBE.mdb is a valid path.
I need to open a password protected Access database from VB and I'm trying to use the Process.Start method and have had no luck. I have tried this seversal different ways and can't seem to get it to work. Here is an example of my closes attempt:
I have this issue that occurs with me and driving me crazy i have a report that contains thousands of records and i need to export it to excel , but the excel normal extension .xls
is showing missing records at the end of the file , so i save my file as an .xlsx extension it saves correctly but when i open the file it generates an error
"Excel cannot open the file '<var>filename</var>.xlsx' because the file format for the file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file."but when i test the file i drag it and open it in an empty notepad all the records shows up correctly
I'm writing an application that imports and tidy up address data into a cleaned, deduped excel workbook ordered in rows with each column as an address field. One of the issues I've ran into is that we sometimes get a workbook where the multiple address fields are held in a single cell with line breaks. I've written code to extract all of this data out of the excel sheet in to a dataset with each sheet as a table and the address fields contained within. I now want to create a new Excel workbook from this data with the address fields in Row and columns the problem I have is I can Open/create the Workbook but when I try to insert a new Sheet (Table) I get an error saying the Workbook is read only....
Private Sub MakeSimpleXL(ByRef DsTemp As DataSet) Dim dsTable As Data.DataTable Dim tblName As String Dim dsRow As Data.DataRow
[CODE]...
Here is the error: System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException: ERROR [42000] [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] Cannot modify the design of table '3 _ 10$'. It is in a read-only database. at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection.HandleError(OdbcHandle hrHandle, RetCode retcode) at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcCommand.ExecuteReaderObject(CommandBehavior behavior, String
[CODE]...
It looks to me like it is trying to create the table (Sheet) but has the workbook opened as read only....
I would like to open the excel file after create the excel file. The creating file function is done, but the system unable to open the excel file. My coding as below:
Dim xlApp As Excel.Application Dim xlWorkBook As Excel.Workbook Dim misValue As Object = System.Reflection.Missing.Value
I am having major problems with creating my tables and populating them.The problem for the creating seems to lie when I try to create my table named WeeklyUnitStaffRota. I get the run time error 2147467259(80004005) No unique index found for the referenced field of the primary table. This has only started happening as I have been tinkering with my tables to get them to populate properly.I seem to have a problem when I have two columns with the same info but relating to a different college ie two MSC being run at 2 different colleges.[code]...
I have an application the contains several excel files bundled with it. I'm not opening the files and processing them within my application. These files contain a data-connection to reload all of the pivot-tables within each excel file. I have a 'link' on my form, that when clicked, it determines which file to open and calls a sub using filename and executing Process.Start(filename) for any excel file I want to open. I have no problems opening any one of the files and then exiting excel.
The problem is when I 'close' a file, but don't exit Excel; then try to open another file(clicking link on form)... it creates a new instance of Excel.
I know from experimenting that the fileopendialog form will 'reuse' an existing Excel instance, IF it does not already have a file open.
How can I do the same thing without using the fileopendialog?
I don't want the end-user to have access to the folders where these files live. That's why I have multiple 'links' on my form, one for each xls that already exists. I just want them to be able to click on a link and the xls file opens AND if they choose to merely 'close' a file and not exit... Don't create a new instance of Excel, but re-use the existing one.
Well here I am again, could really use some expert eyes on this. I've got an update statement for access 2007 and when I run it it's giving me a "No value given for one or more required parameters." error. I've spent at least 2 hours on this now and searched all over the place and none of the suggestions I found are fixing it. I've got an insert statement to the same table that works fine, I took this same syntax for the update statement from another project where it was working perfectly. I've verified the spelling of the table and column names, As best as I can tell there are no reserved keywords being used and I've eliminated any spacing from the names. I've even tried updating a single row with no variables, just like for like data directly from the table and it still throws the error.
Code: Dim DAEdit As New OleDbDataAdapter Dim update As New OleDbCommand("UPDATE ActiveContracts " & _
I'm writing my very first application for a customer of mine using VB.NET and I'm stuck with this: how can I open an xls file and put it on a datagrid? I've seen it's quite complex but the lack of examples by Microsoft doesn't allow me to do all the things by myself.
(using VB2008) I am trying to automate Access from VB.Net. To do this, I added two libraries to my project, Microsoft.Office Interop.Access v12.0.0.0, and dao v10.0.4504.0. This seems to give me all the necessary commands, yet when I tried to open up an Access database via the following code:
I have an Access XP database with two linked tables and a maketable query. I need to first run the Query through VB 2005 and then get the data from the resulting table created. But I get an error when I run the query as follows. I am getting the SQL Select statement from the SQL view in MS access after I create my Maketable query So it should be ok. I am saving the select in a hidden text box on my form.The query text :
SELECT [SWX-Seats].[Asset #], [SWX-Seats].Account, [SWX-Seats].Product, [SWX-Seats].[Seat Id], [SWX-Seats].[Serial #], [SWX-Seats].Qty, [SWX-Seats].[Entitlement End Date], [SWX-Seats]![Entitlement End Date]-[NS-Seats]![Exp Date] AS DaysDiff, [NS-Seats].[Exp Date] INTO
I am trying to insert a variable in Decimal type into an Access table. When I use "decimal" field with 0 digits after the decimal separator (,) my program works properly. However, when i use the field with 2 digits after the separator I get a "Data type mismatch in criteria expression." exception. This happens also when I try to update the table. The debugger shows me that my variables contain the right values but the update or insert command gives the error.
i've developed a VB Net Application, that works with an access (2003) db. Now i've send it to a friend on mine with a new pc 64bit with win 7, and it doesn't works, more or less the error is: Quote:
I got the following code snippet, but it shows errors in 3 places, the error is type "item name" not defined. I underlined and made bold where the errors show up below'Firstly retrieve data from Access database
Dim con As OleDb.OleDbConnection = New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=E:myDB.mdb") con.Open()
