Sep 7, 2011I've used DataAnnotations attribute DisplayName successfully using MVC model binding, and even with WPF/Silverlight model binding and of course it works just fine, but now I'm on a project that I'm forced to use VB.NET 3.5 WinForms.
I have a Linq2Sql model and I created a partial class for one of my classes and included a MetadataType attribute to point to a metadata class. I added a DisplayName attribute to a property in the metadata class. I then bind my datagridview with an IQueryable(Of mydatatype), but the column name in the grid is the Property's name and not the DisplayName.
Am I missing something? Is there something else I need to do to get the datagridview to use the DisplayName?

Jan 20, 2011I'm running a button click event so that it will open a spread sheet from a certain path and export it as a pipe delimited as a seperate file name. Everything looks fine except for this one error I keep getting..."Type 'Excel.ApplicationClass' is not defined". C# - Adding DataAnnotations To Auto-generated DBML Class?
Feb 17, 2010i'm worried about doing this since my changes will be overwritten when the dbml file is auto generated again (as they often are).i'm thinking of doing a partial class and writing out the same properties to annotate them, but worried that it will complain about duplicates, and the reason i can't even experiment brings me to the second part of my questions...

Aug 10, 2009I'm trying to implement the GetHttpContext function from HtmlHelperTest.cs in VB.NET using Rhino Mocks, but I'm getting "Type 'HttpContextBase' is not defined." The compiler suggests changing it to HttpContext, but when I do that I get a run time error that a sealed class cannot be mocked.My test project references System.Web and also imports that namespace. Is there something else I need to do in order to get the HttpContextBase type to be visible to the code I'm witting?
