View 7 RepliesI try to compare Datetime.Now with a Datetime variable I set, using the Datetime.CompareTo() method. I use a timer to compare these every second and display the result, but as the current time approaches the time I set, the result changes from 1 to -1, but never 0, which means these two are never equal. I'm suspecting the Datetime structure contains milliseconds?
View 7 RepliesI am using the AJAXToolkit Accordion control and dynamically adding panes to it based on a query of the database. For example:
Jane logs in and pulls up the page with the accordion on it. In the database she has five rows in the todo_list table. So, I need to dynamically generate five panes that contain the info. from the table...but if Joe logs in he may have only three rows, and Josh may have fifteen - so I can never know how many an individual will have beforehand.
So, I need some way to dynamically name the variables (or is there another way to do this). For example, here is some pseudo-code of what I'm trying to accomplish:
Dim i as integer
For each row in todo_list
Dim ap + i as New AccordionPane
Add some info from the row to the pane
Next
I have the following code
Protected Sub btnAdd_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAdd.Click
Dim counter As Integer = 0
Dim t As DataTable = DirectCast(Session("MyDataTable"), DataTable)
Dim row1 As DataRow = t.NewRow()
If (isUnique(t) And counter < 30) Then
row1("ID") = counter + 1

I am working on MVC3, i have a situation where i want to do something like this:

how to change datetime variable in sql? I nee only time without date in textbox?
There's code:
Dim
connetionString As String
[code].....
Need to change datetime with time variable in this code, i tried bu it gets error
Public Sub SetWakeUpTime(ByVal time As DateTime)
bgWorker.RunWorkerAsync(time.ToFileTime())
End Sub
[Code].....
if I create a variable like
dim DT as new Datetime
automatically the date is set to 01/01/0001
is there a better way to check that no value has been assigned to the variable a part to compare the datatevalue?
I need to obtain time values from a SQL DB. However, I was able to set the datatype for the respective column in the SQL table only to "datetime" as there is no "time" option in the dropdown list in the Visual Web Developer. Namely, I want to bind a Listbox control only to the time data (i.e. not to "dd-mm-yyyy hh:mm:ss"). I tried to convert the datetime values to string and then extract the last 9 chars that refer to time.Unfortunately, my attempts to do that with SubString have failed:
weekDays.DataTextField=Convert.ToString("Start").SubString(length("Start")-10,9)
where:
weekDays - ListBox

Like in:
Dim myDateTime As DateTime
myDateTime = Now
.... (what would have to come here)
If Now is e.g. 15:43:21 then leave only 15:43:00 in the variable?

I prefer to solve this problem at application rather than db level. NOTE: DueDate in database is of type datetime. I'm coding in C# interacting with Sql-Server. I hope my question is clear enough.
I am using OleDb, trying to do this:
Dim d as Date = DateSerial(Year(rptDate), Month(rptDate), 1 - 1)
Dim conn as OleDbConnection = new OleDbConnection(connStr)
Dim cm as OleDbCommand = new OleDbCommand()
[code]....
I know that d is the same date as the one in SQL server, specifically 3/31/2011 12:00:00 AM.
I have this problem:I have a vb.net class (visual studio 2010) :
....
Private nowTime As String
....

I have a timer running like a scoreboard countdown timer. Is there a way that I can display that same timer into two windows forms (winforms) without resorting to properties?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a simple media player that will scan a directory for certain filetypes, add them to a playlist then play a random playlist entry - changing every x seconds.I figured this would be simple in VB and, to an extent it was. I have the code running that chooses the directory and plays the random file.I just need to now make this repeat every 30 seconds or so.I have all the coded attached under the sub for the 'open' function of the player so it's quite flat. I think I need to use a timer here, to trigger the routine to pick and play the media every 30 seconds?In doing this I think I need to break the variables out of the function I currently have as they need to be shared between the timer loop function and the central 'creating file list' function.
I'm having trouble - I'm no coder (as you'll tell!) and although getting this far was easy I'm now (I think) bumping into threading / variable scope issues which are a bit of a brick wall.I've tried making the variables public / global by declaring in the class rather than the sub but I get errors at runtime. Presumably because of how I'm creating the windows media objects? [code]
Do we have increment operators in VB.Net? I want to use post increment and Pre increment operators in VB.Net.I want touse the statement like, i++ and ++i.
View 5 RepliesI'm trying to work out a program where you can set up a variable amount of timers (like egg timers). Each timer works independently of the other (you can stop a timer, reset another, and so on, and the rest are not effected).I thought of using a single timer and then creating a custom egg timer class to handle the countdown, store the current time, etc, and use a collection of these classes inside a timer event (at the tick, do a for each to reduce the countdown on the classes by some milliseconds).Then I got to thinking: all of these egg timer classes in the collection with the for each loop may cause some accuracy loss (say, I add 50 egg timers).
Does anyone think the accuracy loss for updating all of the egg timers would be too adverse? Should I try running them on separate threads (have not thought about how yet), or will that make much difference?
I'm trying to use the timer (not a Timer object) in a Do... Until loop. I want the loop to put a single variable into a label. When I do this it works and puts the value into the label (lblOxygenReading):
If btnGetOxygen.Text = "Get Oxygen Reading" Then
Select Case True
Case rdoColorWhite.Checked
strCurrentColor = "White"
Case rdoColorRed.Checked
[Code] .....
It goes through the Do loop and the For.. next loop but doesn't change the label. Visual Studio doesn't show any errors when I'm writing the code, but when I run it, it hangs somewhere.
my function is to adjust a timer interval according to a integer variable.
Original code (works fine):
Code:
Dim UpdateSnakeSpeed
Select Case UpdateSnakeSpeed
Case currentscore > 199
[Code]....
This is the code I'm using right now. (works fine and is more logically correct than the above case statement. I have chosen to go with if .. end if statements over case, as I do not have a full understanding of what the variable SnakeUpdatespeed is doing in the Select case statement. If someone explains then I'll consider it. Also I know case statments are only meant to be used for 1 option selections, however I'm amazed that it still works in case. Atm it's going to be if end if. Now I'm trying to get the for next loop going with this (if it's logically possible). that's what i'm aiming overall out of this thread. To make a convenient loop.
i want to create a program that pressing a button will increment an integer variable and a textbox will show the result. Te code i wrote is below:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
dim i as integer
i = i+1
textbox1.text = i
End Sub
now, the same code works for the vb6 form but on vb 2010 the textbox just show 1 and does not increment any further.
Here is my code:
number = 1
If chkFN.Enabled = True Then
If ProgressBar1.Value < 100 Then
number += 1
lblFN2.Text = number

how to convert string to datetime and calculate date
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to match a certain DateTime value with the current system DateTime. I have a timer and a label on a form. Timer interval is set to 1000. When the form loads, the timer starts ticking. As soon as the current DateTime matches the value of the variable, it shows a message in the label. When I'm writing the following code, the values don't match even if the current system DateTime is equal to the variable. Label1 isn't showing 'Times Matched':[code]The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.

the msgbox gives me the following result: 29/01/2011 18:49:21 my sqlException gives me the following error: 102 - Incorrect syntax near '18'. Is it better that i set the datatype to char in my sql database? It's maybe a bit easier? When I do that, can I calculate with these date?
