I'd like to create a user-defined data type in VB.NET but don't know how to do it.Take an example.......say there's a variable to control the action of a timer control. The possible actions would be "no action", "run timer", and "stop timer."I could do this with an integer (e.g. 0=no action, 1=run timer, 2=stop timer), but I'd rather create a data type so that the options are more explanatory than a simple integer. Like so....
Private Timer_Action as MyDataType Timer_Action=MyDataType.RunTimer
I wanted to define a property which accepts decimal numbers and do some process on the value and return string such as the below:
Public Property Amount() As String Get Return Utility.PaddingRight(Me.msAmount.ToString(), 10) End Get
[code]....
But compilers warns "Set parameters must have the same type of the containing property."It doesn't look like it should throws an error since it looks legit.
I have a list(of object) lets say ob1,ob2,ob3 that are classes I want to write a linq-querry that exstract from this list only one particolur object that is different time to time how can I write the linq querry?
dim List as new list(of Object) list.add(ob1) list.add(ob2) list.add(ob3) dim Result=(from P as ob3.gettype in list select p).tolist
I'm using the Hashtable class for the first time, and have a question about it:Is it possible to define a type for all it's elements? So that when you for example only put strings in it, you can retrieve them without having to cast them from objects.
Im trying to grasp session varibles, i understand what they are etc but i would like to know how to define a type for each session variable.Iv written it like this
Session("Title") = txtTitleContent.Text
How can i tell it what type of value is going to be in it, because at the moment im only playing about with strings, but what if i have an integer and want to pass it back to the back end to save it will throw an error saying "conversion from string to integer is not valid" should i use Cint to deal with this?
In order to re-sort the data received in USB easier, I send the data array received in USB (declared as Byte) to a temporary array (declared as SByte) to re-sort. I declared the temporary array as SByte just for easy sorting. After I compiled, an error message came up "make sure not divided by zero". I tried to use convert.SByte but still didn't help. Is it not allowed to send data to an array with different data type declaration?
How to define array in vb2005? (Actually, I am making a game, whcih have to find out a pair of same pictures. I want to randomize 8 pictures, but it will randomize some pictures which is the same. Therefore, I need to use array.
I'm using vb.net 2008 edition and i was wondering if there a way to convert an array type to another array type. For instance say i dim an array as string and then want to convert the array to the integer data type for sorting, how would i go about this?
I need to define a property in my class which is an array (of doubles). My original (bad) version is this:
Public Class Market Property Correlations0 As Double Property Correlations1 As Double Property Correlations2 As Double
[code].....
This however doesn't work. I get an error already at design time: "Public Property Correlations as Double has no parameters and its return type cannot be indexed."What should I do with it? I also do not know in advance how large the array should be (the array size is determined at runtime based on other properties).
Is there a way to define an array inside of the sub call parentheses?
Private Sub sub_name(byval sString, arrString) sub_name("Some Text", array.{"","",""})
What I've been doing is passing a string and using a split on it to break it into an array in the Sub/Function, but I was wondering if there was a way to make the array inside the parentheses. I've looked through Google, but I'm guessing I'm not asking the right questions or it's not possible.
I have a form that contain 30 image (load by array) and when one of the image clicked, the background of my frmMain should change to the image clicked. The program has no problem by launching the code below :
Private Sub PictureBox1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles picWallpaper1.Click frmMain.BackgroundImage = picWallpaper1.Image End Sub Private Sub PictureBox2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles picWallpaper2.Click [Code] .....
But this way is not effective if I want to increase more image up to 50,60 in future the program will loaded with these code.
I epochly failed creating an array structure. How would I build it like I tried to do with values for each data type.
Structure PovertyGuidelines Dim Id As Decimal Dim NumberOfPersons As Decimal Dim AnnualIncome As Decimal End Structure Private Data(20) As PovertyGuidelines Private Id(,) As Decimal = {{1D, 2D, 3D}} Private NumberOfPersons(,) As Decimal = {{6D, 9D, 7D}} Private AnnualIncome(,) As Decimal = {{24000D, 32000D, 27000D}}
I am writing a scripting language which used .net for execution. Now I have written a function which accepts an object and return a set of numeric values. I wanted user to pass any numeric array (e.g. integer, single, double, long) and I could return values in that format. I mean user can retrieve value in any numeric array type rather than specifying an array type. E.g.
how can I set the size of my integer array if it is determined at compile time?
Class Modlue Private thisNumber() as integer Private Sub Button1_Clicked(byval sender as object, byval e as EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click[code]......
I have a database table of company information. It's about 50 records and contains things like company id, company name, address, phone number, shipping rate1, shipping rate2,etc.I want to load that table into a structure that I can quickly search within my code.I want to search by id to find the company, and then use the company's data to update some records. My lazy way has always been to add a listbox for each piece of data, then do an indexof on the id, then access the same index on the other listboxes.[code]
I define 3 arrays: ID(n), Hour(n), Showed(n). If Hour(i) = actual time, I get the data pointed by ID(i), if not Showed(i).
BUT... I can add new hours or modify some existent, but I need to have the Hour array sorted. If I sort this array, the ID and Showed will point to different data.
So I though some different solutions:
1 - To make a string array with all inside (a 7 characters ID, a 5 characters Hour and 1 char for showed (T or F)). It could work, but, how can I sort the middle part of the array (Hour)? So, this don't work.
2 - A 3 dimensions "multitype" matrix (1 dimension of type Integer, the second of type Date and the third of type Boolean). I have no idea about how this can be done.
3 - A 3 dimensions string matrix, some like the "all inside" array: ID converted to a fixed size string, hour converted to a 5 chars string (hh:mm) and Showed converted to T or F. And sort the second dimension.
4 - Sell my copy of Visual Studio and drive a taxi cab
I am trying to redirect command line output to a list box in a vba macro, and I've found some code that I think might point me in the right direction, but I keep on getting the same error. When I use this code [code]It gives me the error in the title and highlights the first declaration line. What does it take to define a new "process".
I need to create a function which have either 1 parameter with a string as data type or 2 parameters with double as data type.Something like the substring method.
I'v designed a ms access database table with one field having Datetime datatype. I can Insert data into it from vb.net front end by trns_dt DateTime.Now.DateBut when I fetch records from the tableand assign the dataset datasource as da, it shows datatype mismatch error.
I am using a background worker and am attempting to use the following code. However I keep getting this error on i "Unable to cast object of type 'ObjectCollection' to type 'System.Array'."
Private Sub btnVerify_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnVerify.Click myArray = listProxies.Items() BackgroundWorker1.RunWorkerAsync() End Sub
I have a program that calculates commission, but if the commission is nothing then I do not want it to show a zero commission. I want a message box to show a message that there is no commission earned.
My colleague gave me a DLL that manage all database business. I wanted to invoke a function that uses Stored Procedure and return the search result. In the function receive a parameter type in ystem.Data.IDataParameter[]. Below is my codes.
I added this lines in the form load of DataGridPrinter by Merrion in the codebank..[code]Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.DataViewManager' to type 'System.Data.DataTable'.
[code] "The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value. The statement has been terminated." [code]
