I am working on a project right now which requires the program to read names from a text file and add those names to a list box(after the program is launched). After they are added to the list box, the user is suppose to vote on the items in the listbox(each click of the vote button should add a +1 to the counter for that name selected). So far I have been able to bring items from the text file into the list box, but am unable to set up the voting system.
I'm still learning VB.net and there is a bit of code I have added which is an array and I want to add a list of items to the array. If that makes sense. I have 6 classes two have arrays.
Here is the code from one of the classes Public Function getItems() As Array Return _LevelItems End Function
How would I add the item list to this? Where do I put it? Like underneath it or in the items class? That code is in the Level class.
I feel quite silly asking this, but I couldn't find a definite answer anywhere. in vb.net, how are the array elements defined (if they are defined) for, for example:
Dim myarray(5) as int
does, at this point in time, myarray(3) for example have a defined value? If so, what is it?
I have a for loop which goes like this - for i = 0 as integer to 100 result &= "Name" & sqldr("name") result &= "Lastname" & sqldr("lastname") result &= "dob" & sqldr("dob") next
The sqldr is the sql datareader (not important here) I want my end result to be Name1 = Sam Lastname1 = Davis dob1 = 01/01/1966 Name2 = ... Name3 = And so on depending on how manyrecords are in database. How do I make this happen in this for loop?
I'm wondering why my code keeps coming back with an error here it is:
[code]...
For Each lstItem As CheckBoxList In lstFruit.Items 'I'm getting an InvalidCastException here Saying cannot cast from infinity loop for check box If CBool (lstItem.SelectedValue) = True Then This is the number counter
[code]...
I've been working on this for a few days and I'm trying to put a counter for the items in the check box lixt that are checked; so that the label shows the number.
how to add a counter variable to this array? My code always stops when it gets to an empty array. I can't figure out how to make a counter variable to make it stop.
Private Sub btnTwo_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnTwo.Click For Each i In PlayerArray
I'm in a bit of a bind with this project I'm currently working on. I'm making a 52 card deck counter, so the first code I whipped up was an array to create checkboxes for 13 cards of each of the 4 suits.
Dim x As Integer = 10 Dim y As Integer = 440 Dim width As Integer = 150
[CODE]............
The problem is I can't figure out for the life of me how to use the contents in cards(k, i). Anyone know how to initialize event handlers for that array of checkboxes?
Something like:
[CODE].........
But again, I have no clue how to get the script to detect when a cards(k, i) is checked.
Basically. I enter a name and a score. And my program will store them in an array. Then i press "grades" and it provides me with a grade for each name and score entered.BUTi now need an array that will give me a count of how many numbers are in the array.e.g.
1 | James | 56 | Pass 2 | Bob | 98 | High Distinction ..
I recently downloaded VB 2010 Express so i am quite new to the language, but i have worked with dark basic, which seems to b very similar.Anyway, my problem is that i cannot seem to correctly set out my array of a custom type/class. i am trying to create two arrays, one of available entities and another of selected entities of which the user selects the entities to be dealt with in irrelevant ways. i have creates a button (called test) which adds some entities to the available list and all the entities come back the same value but they shouldnt be as you'll c in the code. i have run the step into command a found that "available.item(#).Name = " will change all of the entity's names. As of current i am working with lists as the array kept asking for a 'new' statement but i couldnt figure out where to put it.[code]
this is essentially the code in a class module I added to the project.
Module CFKMod Public Maps(5) as Map Public Class Map Public Tiles(7, 7) As Tile
[code]....
The problem is this: NullRefereceException was unhandled - Use the "new" keyword to create an object instance. So I've tried placing the word "new" in various locations in front of references to any picturebox to no avail. I even tried to add this before the ** line:
Maps(1).Tiles(1, 1).pctrbox = New PictureBox
In which case the same error moves up to that new line instead. That seems entirely baffling, because VB is telling me that I need a "new" keyword when it is clearly there. I expect either it is in the wrong spot or I'm declaring something incorrectly.
I have this code sample from a book I'm reading which looks to be incorrect:
Imports System.Diagnostics Sub Main Dim pc As New PerformanceCounter("PerfApp", "Clicks", False) 'excepiton here pc.Increment() counterLabel.Content = pc.NextValue().ToString() End Sub
There excepion message I get is: The requested Performance Counter is not a custom counter, it has to be initialized as ReadOnly. I looked for a property to see if I can set it but couldn't find one.
I'm learning how to add items from a list box to a combo box. I'm trying to follow what's going on in the function loop and comparing a boolean and selected index. I can see that it's comparing the item chosen to each item already in the combo box to make sure that it's not already there. If function finds that it's not in the list it sends back that it is true that the item is not in the list.
It then continues to the statement that adds item to the list. The code for the double click event is working fine and items are getting added to combo box. However, the code for the add button isn't functional. I'm not seeing why it doesn't work? I coded out the original code, and replaced with something I thought might work but it still isn't functional. [Code]
The GUI below shows the same product I inputted. If I inputted the same product and a new Quantity inputted, it will add to the current Quantity inputted. Same goes to the Total Amount will change.
In VB.Net for an ASP project I was able to do the following:
Dim Item As ListItem While DataReader.Read Item = New ListItem Item.Text = DataReader.Item("CustomerName").ToString Item.Value = DataReader.Item("CustomerNumber").ToString Me.lstCustomers.Items.Add(Item) End While
However in a VB.Net Windows Project it won't let me duplicate this.
I need to display the CustomerName but return the CustomerNumber of the selected customer
I am also adding the items in code because they are changing based on changing values.
in this : I have a button (ADD), a TextBox & a ListBox. Here's what I want, when I write words in TextBox and when I click on Button ADD, it is saved & added in List1
I am trying to create a program that allows the user to add a series of items to 4 different user collection settings.here's what i have Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
[Code]...
I keep getting an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." exception. What am I doing wrong?
Is it possible to add items (e.g. a search bar, some text, a button...) to the title bar of a form? Something like the search bar in the image below:Is that possible to do with Visual Studio.NET 2008?
I am trying to create a visio flow chart with visual basic 2005 but I keep running into the same problem. I have added a reference to the Microsoft Visio type Library, but when I try to Declare a variable as a Visio.Application of Visio.Document I get an error "Visio.Application not defined" It seems as if adding the COM reference to the Visio Type Library has no effect. Is there some setup that I am missing?
I want to check if an items exists on my pseudo random listbox before adding a newone if the number already exists i need to know before duplicating it.
I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist. When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible. When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement. When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?
i am having 11 comboboxes and 11 tabpages in 1 tabcontrol each tab page having one combobox.i kept the name of combobox like combobox1,combobox2,combobox3.....and so on also there are other comboboxes in tabpages but they are of different name i had also kept the tag property of combobox from 0 to11 for each one now what i want to do is add the same item in all comboboxes for that i wrote code like:-
dim combos() as string=new string("A","B","C"....) dim tp as tabpage dim cnt as combobox for each tp in me.tabcontrol1
[code]....
but this displays an error syntax like:"expression is of type System.windows.form.tabcontrol,which is not a collection type." i just want to add same items in combobox of each tabpage ..
