Deleting Rows From Multiple Tables In SQL 2005
Jan 5, 2010
"Deleting rows from multiple tables in SQL 2005". I need to delete all the rows in the multiple rows where it's the same UserId. My Delete command below:
Delete From tableA
From tableA INNER JOIN
tableB ON tableA.UserId = tableB.UserId INNER JOIN
tableC ON tableA.UserId = tableC.UserId INNER JOIN
tableD ON tableA.UserId = tableD.UserId
Where (tableA.UserId = @UserId) AND (tableB.UserId = @UserId) AND (tableC.UserId = @UserId) AND (tableD.UserId = @UserId)
What is happening from the above query is only the rows from tableA is getting deleted.

I have a vb.net web application and when a particular function runs , i get data timeouts in the rest of the application..(ie..row not found errors or column does not belong to table but it does) The function is adding multiple rows in multiple tables in the database and is running in a for loop. It seems to be all SQL related but I am not seeing anything in the error logs in SQL or in the application Right now I am assuming it is memory related where to start note..the for loop will be replaced with a bulk insert but right now I jest need to resolve the issue of the timeouts

I am looking for some advice on this since I know nothing about database projects or sql, except that they have data stored in tables and rows. I have a sql back up text file from my forum, and I would like to bring that in to a VB.net sql db project. What do I need to do, to accomplish this?

I started out with just one table called products but I had problems with doing an update; it said sql to complex which was because the product table had nearly 100 columns in. The products table consists of header information like product quality, colour etc. Then there are 3 blocks of columns which mainly consist of a size as being the column name and a quantity as being the value. I have put these in three seperate tables to get around the SQL update problem. My problem is what is the best way to code this. The tables link to the header table using an autonumber primary key.

I've found alot of examples for add/edit/delete a single table. In VB6 ADO you could load multiple tables into a recordset using the join command. Then manipulate or modify the data.
I've found how to retreive multiple tables like,
Da = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("Select groups.groupid,groups.userid,lots.groupid,lots.lotid from groups inner join lots on groups.groupid=lots.groupid order by groups.groupid asc", DB) But the only way I have found to update is to use seperate Update commands for each table.

i want to save into my sql server 2000 database multiples rows of a datagridview. i tryed something that first was working good, but i did a code change removing a column so now i'm trying to save again but i can't do it. It's shows me a message error like this: THERE ARE FEWER COLUMNS IN THE INSERT STATEMENT THAN VALUES ESPECIFIED IN THE VALUES CLAUSE. I rewrite the code, delete and add a new table and my code has the same values in the insert than my values clause. I don't know what else i have to do.
Here is my code

I have a table in where I am trying to delete all the rows except for the first. I did manage to come up with the code following:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim dtRemoveRows As DataTable =
[Code]....
In review, this code sort of holds the first row and clears the remaining rows. However, when I exit and reopen the program the rows return. So in other words, I want the rows to get permently deleted. I have searched and cannot find a solution to permenly delete all rows without deleting the first row.

I have the following xml file output below where Deleteme="true" is written when the user clicks on the row's checkbox. I was thinking that once the data is flagged this way I could read the data back in, somehow delete each row specified as above, and then save the data back out.

I am looking for a howto or someone expert in ADO.NET who can explain me how to properly solve the following scenario:I have two datatables in a dataset:
ParentTable (ParentID, Name) for user data ChildTable (ParentID, ActivityID, ...) for schedule data
Tables are linked together at the database level by ParentID which is an Identity column in ParentTable.
Both tables are data bound to a separate DataGridView on the GUI. There supposed to be a "1 parent/N children" relationship between the tables, meaning if I create a new entry in the ParentTable (a new user) I get a clean DataGrid in the child grid to type schedule data for the user. So I setup two DataAdapters for each table to fill their result into a DataSet. I also set up a DataRelation object and assign it to the DataSet to link the two tables by their ParentID columns. Also when I add a row into the ChildTable via DataGrid I use SetParentRow to set the parent row.

So I've created a gridview with checkboxes so the user can check as many fields as they want and delete them with the click of a button. It works except that it deletes all selected rows except one, the row with the lowest number. I can't firgure out what logic error is causing this.
Here's the code for the delete button procedure:
Protected
Sub btnDelete_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDelete.Click
Dim count As Integer = 0

I bring data in from an access database using a sql query and then assign the data to a datagrid view. When i try to delete data from the table, it is removed from the datagrid, but the change is not showing up in the actual table. As a second question, is there a way to tag the specific row and send that back to the actual database for deletion? The way i have it set now, i think would delete all instances where digit, day, and office match, instead of just the selected record.

How would I delete only the successful inserted rows for insert and then move the non successful rows up and allow the user to correct the data and get it ready for an insert. If I dont delete the successful rows then I will have multiple inserts of the same dataRow and we dont want that! And if I don't move the data up then it will have blank rows uptop and will end the try and not insert the corrected data. You can better see what logic I am trying to perform at the bottom of my code, right after I insert into the database.
Here is my code.

'Function declarations
'Object declarations
Dim localOutputServer As SQLServer = Nothing

I am trying to delete rows of an .sdf file using the Database Explorer utility of Visual Basic. When doing so, I get the following error message:No rows were deleted.
A problem occurred attempting to delete row 1.
Error Source: Microsoft.VisualStudio.DataTools. Error Message: The row value(s) updated or deleted either do not make the row unique or they alter multiple rows(48 rows). Correct the errors and attempt to delete the row again or press ESC to cancel the change(s). It is correct that the data in the rows are not unique (and not supposed to be; there is no "error" to correct), but why should this prevent deleting them?

I am attempting to fill a form with multiple rows from an access table based off of a parameterized query. My query works fine but I don't want to return one row at a time, I want to return all rows that match my query in multiple text boxes. I know that I can use a datagrid view to accomplish this, but I would prefer the look of a textboxes on a form. I have read through many books and searched the internet forums but think I may just not know what to search for as nothing has worked yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction. So far I have tried setting the text box value to the row().item(), creating a different dataset for each row, and even setting variables for the results of the query to then be passed to the text boxes. Since none of this work, I don't really have any starting code to post. If I could just get a starting point I could work from there, so don't feel the need to code anything for me, just set me in the right direction.
