Detecting A Mouse Move?
Feb 2, 2012I need to know the status of the mouse whether it is moving or being idle. How can I do that?
I have tried with form's mouse move event but, it doesn't work if the mouse is on any control.

Apologies as this has probably been answered a million different times a million different ways already. I'm trying to control the mouse. I wish to move the mouse to a given pixel position (x, y) and cause a click. I don't want this to be limited within a form, as I want to control another application. I'm using VB 2005.
View 4 RepliesI'm currently debugging a form that sets a flag when the mouse button is pressed, then clears the flag when the mouse button is released. As long as the mouse button is pressed, the user can move the mouse around and a few things happen depending on where they move. One of the things that happens is that a timer starts, or stops, and a few things change color depending on the mouse position. The timer starts when it should, then stops when it should, but once stopped, it is not re-starting when it should. I can verify that MouseMove events are getting through, because coloring changes as I move the mouse, as it should. This would be a simple thing to debug...except that it requires the darn mouse button to be down, and it uses the mouse move event. Anybody who has put a breakpoint in a mouse move event handler knows the issue: There are THOUSANDS of them. Worse yet, since the mouse button is necessary for switching to the IDE, as well as setting a breakpoint (technically, a keyboard shortcut could do this if I could shift focus), I can't wait for the problem to happen, then switch to the IDE and set a breakpoint to see what is happening then.Does anybody have any tips or techniques for debugging in mouse move events when the mouse button is down and has to stay that way? As it is, I'm going to have to write some funky code into the method just so that I have a place to get a breakpoint when I need it without breaking on every one of the mouse move events.
View 7 RepliesIf I put this code in the form, the mouse will be moved once. I want it to "freeze" the mouse at the point that its moved at. If I put code in timer (which it is now), the mouse will keep searching for the color, so the mouse moves around like crazy. How do I change my code so that it will "freeze" the mouse once it finds the color? [Code]
View 11 RepliesI'm trying to set up a timer that counts up to ten and starts/resets when the left mouse button is clicked (anywhere on the screen even when the application is in the background). I'm struggling to find a code that suggests it is possible and now I am starting to wonder even if it is possible in VB?
View 4 RepliesI try to detect when the mouse is over a curve in zedgraph, I am capable of doing it if the mouse is over a point of the curve, but the problem is when the curve has no points in that region,let me show you an example:
Curve is defined by 2 points: [X=0;Y=10] -- [X=1000;Y=10]
If mouse is at point [X=500;Y=10] it is over the curve, but not over any point so i cannot detect it.Is there any event which gets fired when mouse is over line but not necessarily over a point?
i would like my form to dissappear when the user clicks outside the form in vb.net. how do i do this?
View 1 RepliesI need to know a way to detect if the mouse has been clicked anywhere on the screen. So as long the program I am making is open when the user clicks my program needs to do something. Please let me know as soon as possible if this is possible and how you do it.

I am creating a user control where when a user clicks a button a popup window will show up with information. The popup window is driven by a toolStripDropDown so when it shows up it does 2 things
Does not move the other controls on the form around but displays over them That it can show the details outside the bounds of the user control itself without having to reserve the space ahead of time
Here is some code
Public Class Popup
Private treeViewHost As ToolStripControlHost
Private Shadows dropDown As ToolStripDropDown
[Code].....
Now my issue is as the form moves or resizes the Tooldropdown does not move relative. I understand that. When I try to capture the move event of the user control that event does not fire when the entire form moves. There has to be something I can capture because the controls in the container of the form move relative, what drives that? I tried wndproc but nothing fires during form move unless the form is repainted.
I can detect the type of mouse cursor (normal, hand etc) inside the form but i need to detect it when the cursor is outside the form.
View 2 RepliesI would like the text in a button to display "hello" when it is first clicked, and "world" when it is clicked again. But I don't know how to write code to detect the second click.

I am creating an application that creates scripts to move a mouse and to click where a user wishes to via pre-programmed code and to also press keys where required. I have the code to move a mouse and to manually click anywhere. What I am after is to detect when a mouse button is pressed and dragged and when keys are pressed.
I see that there is the following
MouseButtons.ToString
To detect when a mouse button is pressed, and have it looping in a timer. Is there a better way to do this? I would rather not use a timer. And is there a similar routine to detect which keys are pressed?
Is there any way of detecting the position where the Mouse Button is released during a Drag & Drop operation. I need to know whether the intended Drop position was not reached when the mouse button is released.
View 8 RepliesI need to create a program that can run code each time the user clicks, I can't use windows forums since its on another program. If the code can detect global mouse clicks(system wide) or only on one program it's fine.
I've done some digging and it looks like windows API can solve my problem but i really suck at using windows API and it looks like SetWindowsHookEx() can solve my problem but i don't know how to use it correctly. This is the code from Pinvoke that I modified to hopefully work for a mouse click. i'm having trouble getting this to work.
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
Imports System.Windows.Forms

I want to make an auto log off feature, I want to detect if there is any user input, and if there isn't the user will be automatically logged off. So I want to know how to detect mouse wheel events when the form doesn't have focus.
View 1 RepliesI'm a really beginner so i want to know if its possible to make the mouse move to certain co-ordinates outside of your form and then click , and then pause before repeating.
View 3 RepliesIs there a way to just move the mouse up and down a little, like a little shake, every 5 minutes or so? I've tried to find ways to do this but I'm very confused. I'm fairly new at visual basic but I think I could understand it if someone gave me an example code with an explanation.

I need to be able to find out if the mouse has been moved, if the mouse hasn't been moved in a minute then use Cursor.Hide() to hide the mouse, if the mouse is moving then I want the mouse to be shown.
To get the Position of the mouse use this: Cursor.Position.X Cursor.Position.Y I don't know how to do this

I was having a problem with my vb.net 2005 program.. It was installed in a VPN and i access it my home.. it has a backend database of MS Access (more than 20 tables & 20 queries)the problem, is when I'm using the program for 4hours and above, it is taking slow or sometime it cause my PC to hang or I can't move my mouse anyway..
View 1 RepliesWell im trying to make my own basic Slider control just so i can learn abit how to interact with the mouse...
so far i have this:
vb.net:
Private Sub Rectangle_MouseMove(ByVal sender as Object, ByVal e as System.Windows.Input.MouseEventArgs)
[Code]....
so this works while the mouse is on the rectangle.. but if we look how the slider behaves its not the same you click and hold the mouse down and can drag it any where even outside of the window and it still updates its position..
I know how to 'drag and move' a winform by adding following code
Protected Overrides Sub WndProc(ByRef m As Message)
If (((m.Msg = 163) And ClientRectangle.Contains(PointToClient(New Point(m.LParam.ToInt32)))) And (m.WParam.ToInt32 = 2)) Then
m.WParam = CType(1, IntPtr)
[code]....
But after a panel being added to winform, I can not 'drag and move' the winform within that panel area. Any idea of how to 'drag and move' within a panel? I mean the mouse point, click, hold and move within that panel and the winform will follow the mouse movement until I release the mouse button.
'Add these to your form class
Private MouseIsDown As Boolean = False
Private MouseIsDownLoc As Point = Nothing
[code]....
Private Sub PictureBox1_MouseMove(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles PictureBox1.MouseMove
Label5.Text = "X:" & e.X
Label6.Text = "Y:" & e.Y
End Sub
Dim objectrect As Rectangle = rects(0)
Dim object_x As Integer = objectrect.X
Dim object_y As Integer = objectrect.Y
Label7.Text = object_x
Label8.Text = object_y
I discovered that these labels are not the same, the mouse move is more accurate. My mouse is currently pointing at the upper left corner of rectangular.
