May 2, 2012I'm having trouble porting some .NET2-era C# to .NET2-era VB.NET. Specifically, I am trying to define an interface that an ASP.NET user control will implement.(For background, I am trying to re-implement Phil Haack's Model-View-Presenter example from several years ago: http://haacked.com/archive/2006/08/09/ASP.NETSupervisingControllerModelViewPresenterFromSchematicToUnitTestsToCode.aspx)
The C# interface I'm working from defines properties and events (IsPostBack, Load) that are already implemented by the base control.However, VB.NET is forcing me to explicitly implement these properties/events in the user control (Public Property IsPostBack() As Boolean Implements IView.IsPostBack...). I'd like to just define these in the interface and not have to do anything special in the code-behind of the implementing user control.I'm assuming that I can do this in VB.NET, I just don't know how. I've spent all sorts of time googling/bing-ing, and haven't come up with the answer.
Mouse Events And User Control - Control Won't Respond To The Events
Dec 31, 2010I created a control that has picture box control docked within it. This control allows me to "animate" the image by swapping them out by setting the interval to swap them at. I want to use this control kind of like an animated icon within a application, but because the picture box is docked, the control I created won't respond to the events, MouseHover specifically. I understand it except for the ("title)(0). why is this a double index array. what does the (0) do?
Way To Instantiate NTAccount Class From An Active Directory Entry?
Aug 23, 2007I am creating user accounts in Active Directory via vb.net.Once the account is created I need to assign permissions to the "homedirectory" that I have assigned in Active Directory.I have access to the Active Directory name attributes but I need to convert these to a NT account format ( DOMAINAccountName ) to add security via the DirectorySecurity AddAccessRule method.Is there a way to instantiate the NTAccount class from an Active Directory Entry? I'm not sure if this is necessary I just found that class and it looked like a good fit; a simple routine to create the DOMAINAccountName from the Directory Entry attributes like cn might also suffice.

Apr 27, 2011I'm making a control and I am trying to finalize my design time properties grid. I have several List(of Class) items as public properties and when I click on the design time menu (while testing the control) there is the word "Collection" and a button with an ellipsis (...) that brings up a neat pop up with the buttons Add/remove and all of the public properties of the collection's class on the right hand side. Basically for a non-collection instance of a class (with public properties) I'd like a similar button to show up. I know I could put all of the properties in the main control class and group them, but I like the pop up box feature. Anyway to duplicate this? (think font grid item etc.)

Apr 25, 2011EF Navigation properties don't raise OnPropertyChanging and OnPropertyChanged Events.When looking into the entity framework auto-generated code a simple property will have a setter that looks like this:

Seems like the navigation properties should call just call the 4 change notification methods. Do you have any insights on why the EF generater would be implemented in this manner? Is there an option somewhere to turn on notification or a work-around? Also, I assume that editing the designer generated code is bad practice, correct?

May 11, 2010limit the default events, properties and methods exposed from a UserControl so it only displays to the developer the new events etc that I code myself.What i mean is I have created a UserControl with a panel and 5 buttons, written 1 Public Eventonly at this stage, I have placed an instance of the control on a form in a new project, but in the drop down menu that comes up after say (myUserControl1.), there is a massive list of options, I don't want those to appear.

I would like to create a build event to do that, but I do not see a "Build Events" folder on the property page. Is there a setting where I can get this folder? Or, is there another way I can set up a post-build event to copy a file to the output directory? The folders I see on the Properties page:

Active Directory User Properties Updates?
Jul 22, 2011I wrote a sub that would update an Active Directory user's phone numbers using the lines below:
SetProperty(dirEntryResults, "telephoneNumber", strPhoneNumber)
SetProperty(dirEntryResults, "mobile", strPhoneMobileNumber)
The telephone number updates successfully but the mobile number never updates although the strPhoneMobileNumber variable has a valid phone number value. The code executes without any errors. What do I need to do to change the mobile number?

I want to combine them to save all unique directory names, and unique file names, and if the date/sizes are unique, then add some number on the end of the file name to make them unique as well. Only idential file sizes and names and dates will be discarded. How do you open directories to compare directory/file names and other properties?

Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.

Currently I just declair a private instance of the class within the control and then encapsalate. I want to create a text box control so the user can enter the date without making a mistake.ex:-Lets assume that the user is trying to enter 31/03/2010 so when the user types 3 first the next number allowed should only be 1 or 0 because there cant be any date more than 31.and if the user enters 31/ then he should only be allowed to enter a month which has 31 days.
