Does anyone started to work with VB 2010?. I have to migrate an application from VB6 to a new language and I've decided that I will rewrite the application on VB 2010. Well, I am here in front of the new flash 2010 and I have no idea where start. ja!
well until a few day ago. I don't know what I have introduced to cause the problem but now, whenever I load the project, VS 2010 (SP1) crahes. If I delete the project's suo file, the project loads (really quickly) and all is well until I exitVS 2010. When I re-run it and try to load the project, it crashes again unless I delete the suo file.The program can be built for x64 and x86. Now, when I reload the project (after deleting the suo file), it comes up in Debug - Any CPU mode. I can change from Debug to Release and from Any CPU to x86 but if I try and change from x86 to x64, VS 2010 crashes.This is not always the case though. If I build the x86 version and then switch to x64, all is well and I can build the x64 version. Obviously, there's something wonky going on.
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Hide() Dim value As String = """" + Application.ExecutablePath + """ -nogui"
[code]....
I want the program to exit the sub after the timer has been started. But if theres no args, it should just show itself. The problem is that it seems to not care about the exit sub thingy, cause it shows itself anyway.
I am using DataSet.ReadXml() to create a DataSet from the following XML file, so that I can quickly query it using Linq.[URL]..I then use the following object to create a DataTable which can be used as a dictionary, with a ConvertToFriendlyFormat function that takes an Emulator_Id and and a string that corresponds to a DicEntry node's StoredFormat attributed, and return the same node's FriendlyFormat attribute.
This does work BUT it is extremely slow (~11 seconds to call it ~220 times). I have been unable to figure out how create the DataSet when the object is initialised and just query the simple DataTable in the ConvertToFriendlyFormat call. I guess this is what is slowing it down?
how to use Visual Basic to pass arguments to an application after said application was started. Example, "myapp.exe -d" enables debug mode, I want to be able to start myapp.exe then have a checkbox labeled "Debug mode" in Visual Basic. Upon "Debug Mode" being checked, it passes the argument -d to myapp.exe. Upon it being unchecked, it withdraws that argument from myapp.exe.
I just installed Microsoft Ribbon for WPF 2010 on 2 different windows 7 boxes. If I make a .net 3.5 project it works fine but a .net 4.0 it does not.I can load the sample ribbon application and it works but when I drag the ribbon controls over they just make a transparent box. I notice it does not make the XAML correct. Here is the code, 4.0 on top then 3.5 below it. Is there some setting or option I need to change?
how to get a keydown even to work but in 2010 this seems to have changed
Private Sub Form1_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyPress If e.Keycode = Keys.Enter Then MsgBox("test") End If End Sub
I have a problem with this Private Sub Form1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyDown If e.KeyCode = Keys.F7 Then
MsgBox("works") End If End Sub
It work if Form1 has nothing on it. If I add buttons, listbox, etc. does not work. Why?

I've written one pgm that used byte serialization to save a file. It eventually morphed into a program and a library class (dll) so I could save/retrieve the byte serialization/desrerialization file from a different program that would use the same dll that originally serialized file in the first program. But, the first program seems to own the serialized file, not the DLL. The first progam is GenerateEventList and has the added reference Imports EventDBS which is the DLL. The second program EventDisplay also has Imports EventDBS to read the file. It produces the exception:
I'm trying to learn how to work with Collections list. In the past, if I wanted to create a list I would use an array and then save it to a text file after I was done manipulating the data via CSV.how to save things of different types to a list such as:
Name, Birthdate(as date), Salary
I know how to do this in an array but all the synapses aren't firing with the "new to me" collections list as collections lists are hard typed....

If you remember in visual basic 6.0 there is a activix called VTAPI that represent the onDTMF event and PlayBackFile method:when user select number during a call, the OnDTMF event retrive the numbers or symbols and PlayBackFile can play a file when incoming call was answered.
My question is: Is there any component that can answer a incoming call and play sound and retrive the data from modem in vs 2005-2008-2010?
I have an application developed in VB.NET 3.5 2010 with MySQL as Database server.I need to generate a report type on on a form datagrid View.In the table i have fields as below
I Need to retrieve the data to a dataset in below format Reviewed_By are repeated in the table, so i need only 1 cell to be filled by the data and the other empty.I used the below SQL code which worked well at MySQL prompt
SET @PrvSupervisor=''; SELECT IF(@PrvSupervisor=Reviewed_By,'',@PrvSupervisor:=Reviewed_By) Reviewed_By,Stage,sum(Review_Status='Int_Approved') as Approved,sum(Review_Status='Retake') as Retake,COUNT(*) AS TotCount,GROUP_CONCAT(Shot_Num) as ShotsList FROM ShotTable WHERE DATE_FORMAT(Review_Date_Time,'%d/%m/%y') LIKE '10/05/12' AND (Review_Status='Retake' OR

In the above result as the last 4 rows are from Person2, so only 1st record of that person is having data remaining 3 are empty.but when i used it from VB.NET i am getting below error.
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ':=Reviewed_By) Reviewed_By,Stage,sum(Review_Status='Int_Approved') as Approved,s' at line 1
