I need to draw a transparent plane over a User control in my DotNET 2.0 app. That much is easy at least. The hard bit is that I need some (potentially overlapping) holes in this plane. Shape and size of the holes is not known at compile-time.
I tried to approach this with Region and excluding a bunch of GraphicPaths from it. This works great except that the edges of the holes are not anti-aliased.
Is there a way to draw an ellipse with a transparent background and be able to control it's
opaqueness? I can create a brush with a color.Transparent but now how do I control the opacity of this color?[code]...
Ok I made a gif image with a transparent background, but when I draw the image to another, the background is white.
I've looked on google, but all the comes up is how to make a gif file have a transparent background, not use an existing one.
I want to draw a text with 32 bit transparency on a graphics object. When I try, I only get black color in the result.
If I try to draw a line with the same semitransparent color, it works perfectly.

I was thinking it may be that SolidBrush does not support transparency, but I found a predefined brush named Transparent (Brushes.Transparent) that was a SolidBrush when I looked at it in debug. I tried to use Brushes.Transparent as the brush when drawing the text, and it was successfully not showing at all. That means I get full transparency to work, but not partial transparency.
If I drew a rectangle using e.Graphics.FillRectangle() is there a way I could punch transparent holes in it?
View 16 RepliesI support a program that captures a drawings from a digitizer tablet. The tablet functions as sort of a mouse and the user uses a Stylus to draw (sign) their name into documents. An issue that has come up is that the user signs their name but the line that the signature is build with has noticable holes in it. Kind of like having a pen that skips when you write. The information is communicated into a PictureBox using a DrawLine Function where it passes the line color, the previous point and the current point.Kind of stuck with this, not sure why the tablet would produce a spotty signature when the stylus is in contact the whole time with the tablet. I have yet to port out the line x,y points to see if the tablet is producing consistent points but this is the next step.

View 4 RepliesI'm trying to draw a semi-transparent layer over my entire form when certain events occur, with a prompt in front of this semi-transparent layer (similar to the effect in Windows Vista/7 with UAC enabled)At first I was trying to use a custom semi-transparent panel, but this didn't seem to work at all. As such I'm now trying to use a child form within the form using the opacity property on the form. However, when this semi-transparent form is added to the controls of the main form and displayed, it loses it's transparency.I've got a hacky work around at the moment where the semi-transparent layer isn't actually a component within the main form, and the transparency works then, but obviously this isn't ideal and could potentially cause various issues further down the line.

I cannot get the gif to show the underlying controls through it's transparent parts. I've tried using a picturebox but I don't think this can be set to transparent (It's background can, but not the actual object). One last hangup with an application and I've tried like heck to research this but no luck.When I do a button click on my open file, it brings up a sub with all the open file code same for my save file and everything works perfectly.If, the open file dialog is on the screen and you should click either cancel or close I get the following argument exception unhandled, (and I've pasted all the details).It throws the exception at the very first line where textbox1 gets it's backcolor(txc(0)) is the variable in my.settings
If I open ANY file I have saved by clicking OK, all goes perfectly, it loads the file and I don't get the exception.I only get it when I click off the open file dialog with cancel or X.
