I am a vb.net newbie, so please bear with me. Is it possible to create properties (or attributes) for a class in visual basic (I am using Visual Basic 2005) ? All web searches for metaprogramming led me nowhere. Here is an example to clarify what I mean.

View 2 RepliesI've created a form with a PictureBox on it and would like to dynamically create another PictureBox on the form while the program runs (to the left of the static one). I've written this code:

When I run this code I can detect that the temp PictureBox does get created. However, it is not rendered onto the form. It seems like it's there but is invisible.
For instance, I was trying to use

But get an error message!I am trying to use the WebRequest .NET framework class [URL] How can I enable .NET? Is something wrong with my installation?
I have created a simple application where I fetch questions from an Access database and store the answers to another Access database. I am not sure how many questions client would like to ask, so I can't hardcode that number.
So, column names for answers table (besides user information like first, last name and so on) will be a1, a2, a3 ... aN.
And finally the problem!
For testing purposes I have hardcoded saving first 3 answers like this:
newEntry.a1 = answers(0)
newEntry.a2 = answers(1)
newEntry.a3 = answers(2)
Now I would like to iterate through all properties based on count of "a-type" properties:
'aCount is number of "a-type" properties
For i = 0 To aCount - 1
Dim property As String
property = "a" & (i + 1)
newEntry.property = answers(i)
Next
Of course, above code does not work, it is just a pseudo-code idea that "should" to the same as my hardcoded example.
Is it possible to iterate through predefined properties of newEntry object in that manner?
i can connect to only one Data Base with dataset in Visual Basic . but i want Have Dynamic connection to data base i mean in want to my appliction users have ablity to connect to any data base they want (For Example : Choose file from menu and then open and then Select any Data base.)

You know how everyone says "C++ is like C with classes"?How similar is it to .NET classes? instance a class, based on other classes, add new properties, override existing properties, etc?Are the variables strongly-typed and declared before they are used? Or is it a Duck-Typing language like Python?
Also, does it have its own Garbage Collector that disposes of objects when the pointer exits their scope,or do you have to manually clear and get rid of them when you finish with them? What's the difference between native C++, and the "managed C++" in Visual Studio? Sorry if this is a bit random, but is it good practice to give all fields of a class a value when the class is instanciated? I'm just wondering if its better practice to have a constuctor that takes no parameters and gives all the fields default values, or whether fields that have values should be assigned and others left alone until required?

How do I disable the background compiler for Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2008?

I am just wondering how I can add Direct X references to Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. I cant find them in the .NET reference list, or the reference list, or anywhere. I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.

what's a Class, and Object, a Method, a property and thins like that, but I have this doubt:Let's supppose I have a class "Laundry" this class has (just for this example) 3 propierties:
1.- laundryID
2.- Name
3.- Washers
Id and Name are "primitive" types or simple types (integer and string), but Washers, represent a list of object of type "Washer", that has 3 properties:
1.- washerID
2.- laundryID
3.- capacity
4.- brand
All of them (for this example) simple/primitives types (integer,string,string).So this my dilemma, it is correct to have a constructor like this (VB .net)

when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.

I am now asked to create a .net application and I'm trying to create a "Hello World" starter app. I opened my Visual Studio, click File-New Project and all I see is Business Intelligence Projects and Other Project Types. My step-by-step guide says choose Visual Basic, Windows Forms Application. But I can't see it as an option.
