Jun 23, 2010We have a menu strip with 4 toolstripmenuitems. In mosue right click i need to show one toolstripmenuitem as dropdown menu. here i am able to show that tool strip menu but it is populating at the top left corner of the screen. I need to set the location as cursor location.

May 15, 2010VB express 2008 .net 3.5 or .net 4.0 VB express 2010?I have written application to convert RTF to HTML. The main Purpose of the application is to copy VS code to the clipboard and covert it then put it back into the clipboard as a HTML Document so that it can be pasted into a HTML document such as Windows Live Mail. I found that code copied and pasted is spaced out in in the wrong positions.
The applications works perfect with no bugs so far. I then asked Myself how to go about doing the copy with the least amount of operator interaction. So I added an Icon to the Icon Tray with a right click menu to use to convert once the Rich Text Format was copied to the clipboard. This works fine except you have Five steps, Select the text, Copy to clipboard, Right Click the icon, Select the Converter and Paste. The normal is three steps.
To this the best solution is to add a context menu item to the active form such as the RTF editor or window. So that when you select the Rich Text to copy and right click on the form to bring up that menu then to Just Select the menu Item such as "Copy RT and Convert" I searched and found about 544000 Items and tried to restrict down to no avail. I read until I finally gave up. I did not find any code examples of this. Almost every thing I found related to the web or some other explicit document like Excel and not to the Various windows that could be active with RT in it.
how do you add a context menu item to the context menu of an active rich text format window such as WordPad or VB?I have test in my application that tests to see if it is a RTF in the clipboard so if it is not the converter does nothing.

Aug 25, 2005I downloaded a sample Project from the web. I opened the sample Project in Visual Basic 2005 Express Beta 2. After making a lot of modifications to the sample Project, I wanted to save my new project with its own different name, and in the usual directory where I have been creating other projects. I pressed Save All and accepted the default choice. Unfortunately, after pressing OK, I realized that I had saved over the original downloaded sample project, and had saved my modified project in a temp directory designed to receive downloads from the web.It's not a problem that I overwrote the original sample project, because I have already retrieved a new fresh copy from the web. Nor is it a problem that I gave it the name of the original project, because I was able to figure out how to rename the modified project by right-clicking in the Solution Explorer.
My problem is that I didn't want to save my modified project in the download temp directory. I want to save the Project (and all its associated sub-directories and files) in a directory of my own choosing (the same directory in which all my other created projects are saved). But now that I have chosen to save the project in an undesirable location, I want to re-save it somewhere else.For the life of me I can't see how to do this. The Save All command doesn't give me the choice of selecting the name or location for my project, it just updates my currently undesired location. The other two save-oriented commands under the File menu selection (Save and Save As) seem to be oriented to just saving the singular item (form code, dialog box code, module, etc) on which I am currently working. I can't find anything such as a "Save Project As" kind of command. And I don't want to try to cut and paste the whole directory, because I'm too novice to know whether I am moving everything properly with regards to what VB2005 needs to find and where it needs to find it.

Jan 16, 2009For some reason, the Add New Item command on the Project Menu is hanging VB on my Vista based machine.but now, it hangs. By that I mean the the little circle cursor spins and spins and spins... This happens even when all I do is start VB, start and new project. and then try to add something, eg. another form, a class, anything except "existing item".

Feb 1, 2010How can I search the local disk for a file type and copy the full path to a new location. I am trying to write a backup program that will copy all pst files to the server while maitaining the structure, so if there is a pst located in "C:pstuserpersonal1.pst" it would create the folder "\serverpstuserpersonal1.pst" and copy the file to the correct location. I would need it to do this for each pst on the hard drive no matter the location. The user running the program will not have admin rights, so it will need to skip files it cannot access.

Jan 20, 2009I'm hoping someone can help me here. I've been having trouble positioning a Contextmenu when a user right clicks a specific column within a Datagridview.
The Contextmenu is just a list of names and whatever name is selected then populates the 'Right-Clicked' Cell. My problem is the Contextmenu appears in the top left of the screen. I would like it to appear where the user 'Right-Clicked'

Unfortunately doing it this way I couldn't populate the Cell. So decided to use the method that I have posted above.

Jun 20, 2012What I have is a WebBrowser (named mainBrowser) on my form already. I made the mistake of coding things to it (such as forward, back, home, etc buttons). I am coming to gather that you create your own web browser within the TabControl1 tab control. Am I missing something here? Is there a simple way to just using my WebBrowser1 that's already on my form and incorporate that into the tabs?
I know it may seem like I didn't do my homework and just came straight here for advice, but I've literally been searching Google, forums, Yahoo!, and others for the past 3 hours. I came up with the same general idea of creating a WebBrowser inside of the TabControl. Is that the only way to do this?

Sep 28, 2010First of all, please feel free to skip this entirely if you can understand the questions below.I'm still very fresh new to .NET, but an elder monkey on bad old ASP in regular VB.I just got into a company with some legacy .NET VB files and now I have a couple of huge projects, with over 50mb of files and about 1gb the whole project and debugging them haven't been easy. I've read through w3schools tutorial and did many google researchs to get to this point in which I just can't make this work. And unlike in another very similar question I don't think this is a simple issue.
I don't know if those projects are MVC or regular Web Application, but I was told to use "Other Project Types > Visual Studio Solution > Blank Solution" and then "Add Existing Web Site" to that. With no further instructions or orientation, I see they all have DLLs and makes me believe they are not MVC.
Anyway, whichever this or many other ways I've tried to add the files into Visual Studio, I could never use the Debug properly with one of them. One works fine enough, I can at least see it running locally very alike from the webserver. But the other gives me many random errors and warnings to "compile" the debug and run on Visual Studio's own server (I think it's called "ASP.NET Development Server"). Some errors shouldn't even exist like "The file XXX doesn't exist" while I can easily verify it does exist!
I don't really expect to have much help here, but I still hope to find some. Sorry if this is too much.What options do I have to debug a big Visual Studio project that already works online in a server that have debugging and even error options turned off?How can I know how to properly "import" an existing project into Visual Studio to begin with?Is this a homework question?(new) Given I have 3 places to sync many files (local, shared production network and live) what's the best approach to work on and debug existing errors? Out of the box thinking is always welcome (converting project, not using Visual Studio, older version, whatever)
