I am trying to build a facebook WebApp in vb.net using the Facebook C# SDK. The SDK can be used for vb.net, this I know. However I am trying to get my app to login on page load. I can get it to login, however my app does not recognize that it is logged in and continues to loop through the login again until i stop it. [Code] I have tried countless different methods to get it to recognize the logged in status to no avail.

Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.

I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.

So instead of having to log into FB to see the insights they will be able to see the data (that we put into reports) from the analytics webiste we already have for them.

View 2 RepliesI have a START and STOP button and when the user clicks "start" the program does a whole bunch of calculations and all. However, I noticed that when I was testing the program I clicked STOP the program continues to execute stuff.
My START code is basically a while loop that iteratively does some calculations.
So I just put a boolean variable as the while condition and when user clicks stop its set to false and when user clicks start its set to true. However, when I click stop, the condition is set to false yes but it still executes all the code until the condition is re-evaluated right...so my question is how can I get out of the while loop when user instantly clicks "stop"?

View 1 RepliesI have created a silverlight app that consits of like buttons within specific usercontrols (all in one asp page). Ie.foodingtons.net/index.aspx?id=211
It is all incorporated within the silverlight app on one page. Hence when the control is loaded the meta tags are updated and the like button is placed within an iframe and linked to the appropriate page. When the like button is pressed a javascript function is invoked which changes a picture behind the silverlight obj. This picture in theory should be used as the default image after the like button is pressed (on clients page). But it seems to be stuck on old images. Ie. foodingtons.net/index.aspx?id=211(the above is using an image which doesnt even exist)foodingtons.net/index.aspx?id=218(is using an image from the main page)foodingtons.net/index.aspx?id=219(fails.. the website is inaccessable)
I have also tried create the open graph tags with in the page to reference new images but to no avail.

I've integrated a bit of code into my project using Visual Basic, that reads RSS feeds. It works absolutely fine. I did however intend it to read Facebook notifications to users of my program. The idea was, if you go on Facebook, clikc Notifications, click See All Notifications, click via RSS, you get an RSS feed right there. When I use the address in the address bar for my project's RSS reader though, I just get an error.
Like I said, it works for other feeds, just not working for Facebook notifications.
I looked around google a little and did not find much.Two questions
1, what is some of the things I cant do with vb.net and facebook

I am trying to write some simple functional code that will be added to an existing large scale project. I used the TweetSharp sdk to get and Access Token & SecretToken, and the stored them, and I can them use those with my API key and secret to post to twitter with no issue. I now need to do the same thing but with a facebook status update. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong), but Facebook doesn't user an Access Token & secret Token, but instead they just use an Access Token. I've written the authorization part of the app that launch the browser, user logs in, click Allow, and then I obtain the Access Token from listening to the URL. I have looked at the documentation for three different SDK/API's and don't see anything specifically related to.. This is how you post a status using the user's Access Token. I have tried a number of API documented methods from the Facebook C# SDK, but they all seem way to complicated compared to how I got this done with Twitter... maybe Facebook just made this more complicated, or maybe the SDK just doesn't offer the functionalityCan someone point me to an example for Facebook API code that functions like this after getting the AccessToken(The following is a twitter example)[code]or maybe the workflow for using Tokens in completely different with FB..

I'm getting desperate here trying to find the problem, and I don't know where to start looking for it.
Here are the symptoms:I've noticed, that when a user logs on in the morning, he is then immediately logged off, then when he logs on again, everything is fine and he can work on the site.
Every once in a while, when the user clicks a link, the page takes a lot of time to load, but it never actually loads, and the user is thrown to the login page.Also, after an Exception has occurred in the website, the user is then thrown to the login page. It's as if the exception clears somehow the session.

I have inherited a ASP.net site, and I've made some changes too to some of the VB code and CSS, and have hosted it on a FTP. It uses an SQL DB to allow users to log in and calls stored procedures.The site complies with no errors, and allows me to log in as a user, and can works perfectly on testing.However, once uploaded to the FTP, it no longer allows me to log in as a user. It hangs for a while, and then returns a message saying that the password is wrong, despite it being correct. It doesn't throw an error message, and I think I've narrowed it down to something to do with the Web.config file, but I'm at a loss as how it's not working, especially with the lack of error messages being thrown.[code]

Could it even be implemented? Is logging in this fashion just a pipe dream?
View 6 RepliesI have a class for serial communications (call it CSerial), based on a property value (CSerial.LogLevel), I'd like to produce various levels of logging information about data sent and received to the serial port.Given that it's a reusable class, there's no way of telling whether the log data should be sent to the console, a text box, a file, etc. This would be determined by the application using the class, so I can't write all of the different output options into a method in the class.Question:What's the best way to implement this? I have some ideas:1. Create a Log method and then "override" it in my main application to handle the most suitable form of output? Can I "override" a method as part of an instance? Or do I need to create a new class that inherits my original one, override the method there and then create an instance of my new class?
