Faxing PDF File Using .Net Application?

Jul 2, 2009

I developed a windows service to fax files using VB.NET. It is working for the file formats .bmp,.jpeg. But it is not working for the file type .PDF.I am using FaxComLib (COM .dll) to send fax. I am getting following error when the service tries to fax .PDF file.

"System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070483): Operation failed.at FAXCOMEXLib.FaxDocumentClass.ConnectedSubmit(FaxServer pFaxServer)

Faxing With FaxComExLib, What Is FaxDocument.DocumentName?

Dec 5, 2005

I am successfully sending faxes from a windows XP client through the fax service on a windows 2003 server. The fax prints at the recipient's end with a line at the top that looks something like "1C5W999387430409E.txt". I hope this is a really simple question. Is this the "DocumentName" as in oFaxDocument.DocumentName = "Some Text". If it is not, how can I eliminate the line of text at the top of the fax.

Make Application 'single File' And Get Rid Of XML Config File?

Dec 29, 2010

I have this pretty simple application, it uses a webService to transfer data to my servers DataBase. Now it is very important for me to keep this application as one single file, and not having some XML files needed for it to work, but this is the case. I think the XML file holds the information to this webService, so without it the application crashes. Is there a way to get the application to work without this XML file, or a way to put the XML inside the exe archive?

I've never thought about it before; but I recently learned how I could modify the app.config file to add/remove trace listeners (for example, to redirect all of the Trace.WriteLine output to a text file). But I don't quite understand how it works? I know the corresponding C# code to do the same as the config (in this example) - does that code get generated/executed before my application's entry point?

Get Description Of .exe File From Application?

Dec 14, 2009

I want to get the description of an external .exe file from my vb.net app, rather like in task manager. My program can monitor active processes and open their file locations, but it cannot get their descriptions (like in task manager) I want it to be able to do this, and I've found the following code to get the description of a normal file (I had to re-write it from csharp):

Public Class Myform
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
<StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)> _

[Code]....

For example, if the process 'dwm.exe' is open, then I want my program to get the description "Desktop Window Manager." I want it to be universal for any program so it can be done with any open process.
