I always get this error during the Paint event: System.AccessViolationException was unhandled. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen the first time it goes through.

Win7 64 bit; fully patched VS2008 targeting FW2.0; VB.Net; running in Debug Mode (not tested in Release mode)I have a resonably complex app which I am refactoring a bit. As part of that, I relocated some code from a subroutine into a Click Event Handler. The Event Handler will, late in the handler, call the, reduced in function, subroutine. I have a subroutine that was written in fortran that I need to call from VB.NET where all of my other functions are written. I did not write the fortran, and hardly know fortran. I am getting the below exception on my dll function call and don't know how to fix it. I wonder if it is due to incongruent variable lengths? I have the source for my fortran and compiled it using the g95 compiler. I have tried compiling it with a flag on which is supposed to force all of the reals to 32 bits (-r4). It weirds me out that you don't seem to be required to initialize variables before use in fortran. I thought it was supposed to be a ridged language.

I have a form called BaseReportForm that handles drawing some stuff to in a panel to create a template for a bunch of reports. The drawing all takes place in the Panel's Paint event and this form will always be inherited. In the inherited forms, I draw the specific details of the report in the inherited form's Panel Paint event. So I am drawing to the same panel from the base form and from the inherited form. It all works fine, but when I try to open the design view for the inherited forms, I get the following error..

I am working on an application with a friend and I am getting an error.The error says:

I am working with Wizard generated dataset. I added this code to a button for update:

In this screen I want to let the user decide which elements are on shown on a label. When I hit the update button (BDUpdate_Click; see below), it first checks whether the Barcode sample text is empty. Afterwards I want to invole the refresh of the label preview. The strange thing is that the first time it works fine, but when I alter the sample text and hit the button again, I get the Error "System.ArgumentException was unhandled. Parameter is not valid." I am working on a multi-form code. For some reason, this randomly began happening just about the time I finished my code. The intial form loads just fine, but when I go to click on any of the selected buttons, the code crashes. and I get an unhandled exception of type 'System.stackoverflowexception' occured. Does anyone have any ideas? I have checked for any subs calling subs that call subs and I don't have anything of that nature. It is breaking at the point that is bolded and underlined.

I'm getting the following exception when I try to run up my Winforms app and haven't been able to find a solution to it:
System.ArgumentNullException was unhandled
Message=Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: activationContext

I've added a handler for the "unhandled error" event in the applicationevents class but it never reaches that stage and there is no source code running that I can break into and diagnose.
The application was fine until I added a user control (nothing fancy, just a standard windows user control) and then dragged it onto a form in the app (user control and form were in the same application). The application builds and compiles without any errors or warnings but when I attempt to run it up I get the above error straight away.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be or even how I can go about investigating it? I'm a bit stumped on this one as I'm not sure how to investigate it. I removed the user control from the form and then I removed the user control from the application entirely but the error hasn't gone away. In all honesty the addition of the user control might be a red herring but the problem manifested straight after adding it.

I have a website that i've been working on for about a year now.Recently, it's started throwing System.AccessViolationException every now and then, in my dev machine, mostly, when I was away from the machine.I haven't changed anything on the server code in weeks, since I've been working 100% on the Javascript part, and this error started appearing recently.
Also, the code I'm doing is 100% managed. I'm not doing any interop, calling strange DLLs, nothing. It's pure VB.Net, so I don't see how I could be generating one of these myself.Now, I've been using this new machine for a couple of months, and it's not working 100% right. Every 2 or 3 days I'm getting a blue screen for example. I haven't had time to diagnose it properly, but I'm suspecting I may have a faulty RAM chip.
