two aspx pages that i have.
First one is a table with results populated from the sql server backend. The first holds the "FirstName". I want this to have a hyperlink, so when i click on this, it should goto the second aspx page and show all the data in sql server for that "Firstname". the data is in 3 other tables based on firstname, which is phone, address and hobbies.So -
FirstName
Samuel --> clicked on it
redirect to second page -
Samuel -
Phone Address Hobbies

if i need a querystring or is there another solution (better solution). Also how do i capture the querystring in second page?
I want to pass some data between an existing excel application and an existing ASP.Net VB Webforms application.
I thought a hyperlink with some query string variables would be the most straightforward means of doing this. However, it seems that the hyperlink does not retain the session of the logged in user.
Testing this with the same URL on a webpage does work. So it seems Excel is starting a new session. Any ideas on how to make Excel hyperlinks behave the same way a browser hyperlink does?
As a follow up to my previous question Putting together a tricky SQL query
since I now have the records returned as URL format, how can I display those as hyperlinks in my gridview? (this is how the client wants it done, not much I can say to change their mind)

I'm using visual basic 2010 express..I'm building my own web browser and want to add a download manager.I have been able to build one that will download a file if I type the file location into a text box.What I'm trying to figure out is how to have the download manager open when I click on a download link on a web page.How to make the download manager know it is a link to a downloadable file as opposed to something like a link to another webpage?
View 3 RepliesI have a link here that works perfect for calling the postback close that I need to happen:
<a href="javascript:parent.__doPostBack('Close','')"><asp:Label ID="Label5" runat="server" Text="Close Me"></asp:Label></a>
However, I would like to be able to call the *javascript:parent.__doPostBack('Close','')* method from the code-behind file rather than the user clicking the link. I.e., when I have completed my tasks in the application code, call parent.doPostBack as my last function call, which closes the window in question.
When a button is clicked i am creating HTML that will be displayed in the WebBrowser1 control. With this HTML are several links to other pages. Is it possible that when one of these links is clicked, that WebBrowser2 navigates to the page instead of WebBrowser1?

Trying to get the ID out of the hyperlink. Apparently the Facebook ID length has changed so my previous method no longer works. I'd like to future-proof it with a Regex to get the id regardless of length:
<a class="url" onclick="javascriptageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/psr/1/www.facebook.com')" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.facebook.com/people/facefacebookuser/1569349641">Facebook : John Doe</a>
1569349641 is the ID and can be any length. I'd like to return only this number.
I'm pulling a hyperlink from a SQL db and trying to embed it in an email programmatically as follows:
Dim dv As System.Data.DataView = CType(SqlDataSource2.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty), System.Data.DataView)
''Add Ticket URL and comments to answers dictionary
Dim emailMessage As New MailMessage("donotreply@myemail.com", "me@myemail.com")
emailMessage.Body = dv.Item(0).Item(1).ToString <--Location of email
Example of data being pulled from db:
<a href=http://www.google.com>My email link</a>
I'm trying to get it to show up as a hyper link an email, but instead it displays the full html as above. I've tried HTMLDecode, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
