Dec 23, 2009I have 2 workbooks( Book1 and Book2) with multiple sheets.I am only interested in one of the worksheets in the workbooks(both the worksheets names are the same).The thing is that the data is in the form of pivot tables, so each time i have to filter according to specific categories, copy and paste into another new workbook.The thing is column headings in both the worksheets are different,BUT BOTH the worksheets data must be combined into 1 single worksheet( row after row).
Meaning in Book1, my columns are in the form of Cost, revenue,margin and in book2, the columns are in the form of Cost,Revenue, Profit Margin %.... That means i must add a profit margin % column in Book1 and a Margin column in Book2 before I combine the data into a single worksheet. Each week, new data gets added into Book1 and Book2, so I wish to automate this by creating a code, so that when the source data changes, my new workbook's data also changes.

Aug 18, 2011I'm trying to copy multiple excel source files into one excel file. My current code is working only for 3 source files..If more than 3 files are there, it doesn't copy the data but creates blank work sheet in the output excel file. Lets say I have a source folder with 5 excel files. Each workbook contains one worksheet with data. It copies upto 3 worksheets along with data into output excel file.
Lets say excel1 contains A as work sheet, excel2 contains B as work sheet ,excel3 contains C as work sheet ,excel4 contains D as work sheet ,excel5 contains E as work sheet .Now my output excel file should look like..OutputExcel with A, B, C, D, E along with respective data.But my current code is giving output as A,B,C worksheets along with respective data but its creating blank sheet1,sheet2 in place of D & E.

Jan 16, 2009I'm currently in the process of building a text editor type program, and have run into a brick wall. I haven't done VB in years, so I may just need a little reminder on some things. I have coded everything so far as far as opening files, saving them, changing fonts, colors, etc. However, I'm looking to add a Close button to my menu strip that will just close the currently opened file, and not the entire program, while also ask the user if he/she would like to save before closing the file, and then if they select yes, it will show the save dialog, and if not, it will go ahead and close the currently opened item.

Mar 4, 2011In a program I'm working on, I want a "Loading..." dialog to close when it can't log in to a site using the username and password provided by the user. Basically, I have the code set up right because the function it is supposed to carry out when that occurs does work, but for some reason it ends up in some really weird stuff happening. In the Loading form, I have it set to do "Form1.Show()" and then "Me.Close()", assuming it would simply show the login form and then close the Loading form. However, when this happens, the Loading form closes, and then for only an instant Form1 shows, and then the Loading form shows and Form1 closes. This happens forever until I stop the debugging, and I can't seem to figure out why. Am I using the wrong method? What exactly does Me.Close() do anyways? All I want to do is close the form and open another

In order to broaden the function of the workbook so that it can be used for a varietyof tests I would to make the tab names dynamic. For example I would like the user to select a test step from a drop down menu (say Test Step 1). From that drop down menu I would populate a different cell with what I want the tab name to be (C - Test Step 1).

Mar 2, 2009I have a situation where me.close() doesn't close the form. I have a form with a button with the code seen below. What happens when the button is clicked is the new form shows, but the original form(calling form) is still there. When I go into debug mode, I can see the me.close() execute, but nothing happens (calling form stays open). When I close the second form both forms close. If I comment out the call for the second form to open the first form closes without problem.

The issue I have is that sometimes (like right now) it is a new year, or a new month and varStar may not exist in the specific workbook. How can I code it to, if varStar doesn't exist just skip it and keep going. I tried On Error Resume Next, and On Error GoTo 0. But that wasn't 100% efficient.
