I have Office 2007 installed on my Win7 development machine, however I want my Office-reliant VB.Net app to reference/work with, Office 2003 and above. I tried installing the Office 2003 interops redistributable but the installation tells me that I need
to have Office 2003 installed. Is there a way I can install the Office 2003 interops so that my app can have references to Office 2003 and thus work on Office 2003, 2007 & 2010?

Then I can't instantiate Excel App.. THe really weird thing is that I have an old app open at the same time that is just fine with all this code. AND the intellisense is different for each cell.The good one sets is as a range, the bad one says it is an object???I re-installed the MS PIA's but this didn't help.

have a Visual Basic 2008 project with references to Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel and Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access for Office 12/Office 2007. I also have Office 2007 installed on my PC. I tried running my program on a PC which has Office 2003installed (i installed the compatibility pack to open .xlsx files) and the Access Database Engine for .accdb Databases.It does not have VS2008 installed but has .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.
View 10 RepliesI am working on a legacy VB.NET application that uses Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word, with Office 2003 installed on the server. When I publish my site, even though my config file clearly shows v11: The site will crash saying v12 couldn't be found: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
Note: I currently have Office 2003 & 2007 installed on my dev machine, also, when looking @ references I am given the option of selecting v11 or v12 (so v11 is def. there). Within a page on the site the page does an import statement for Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word. Is it possible to specify the version at this point, or any way to force it to use v11 without me uninstalling my v12?
I am writing a function to export data to Excel using the Office Interop in VB .NET. I am currently writing the cells directly using the Excel worksheet's Cells() method:

I have been trying to find a way to link VB .Net and excel in real-time. Using the COM and IRTDServer I have been able to send data from VB .Net to excel live (basic RTD server client), but I have not been able to find a way for the client to then publish back to the server real time, i.e. a cell that is changing based on a number of variable to be published back to the server and out to other clients real time.

This adds a textbox to the first page of the document however even when I change the first (top) parameter I am unable to move the textbox onto the second page (only lower down onto the 1st page, any greater values than the height of the first page an it disappears).
How can I get the textbox to appear on the 2nd page of the document?

I have a .NET winforms app that automates Excel and checks for a worksheet password. The requirements are to be able to detect
1) that the protection is turned off
2) that the password is removed (protected but there is no password)
3) that the password matches the correct password from a database
To meet the second requirement the program calls the Worksheet.Unprotect command with a null string, capturing the error. If error as expected, the 3rd check is made. If no error, then the Unprotect worked without a password ==> password was removed.
The code sample below has these checks.The application can do this fine with Office 2003. I have since had my dev machine updated to Office 2007 and it no longer works as it did. When I call the Worksheet.Unprotect, Excel prompts for the password!
I need to know how this should be accomplished in the new version of Excel or if there is a way to reference the old PIA. No matter what if I set a reference to Excel 11 it is replaced with the PIA for 12 in the GAC.

Assume all traces of Office 2003 will be removed from the computer.I understand that I will still be able to use .xls files. I'm asking about automating Excel through the COM interop from outside Excel. When I add a reference to Excel to a VB project, it gives me a different version of the dll for different versions of Excel. If a program was compiled with a reference to Office 2003's dll, will it need to be recompiled for Office 2007? Will the code need to be updated to use the new dll?

I am using the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel library in VB.Net on an excel sheet that is protected. All of the protected settings are working fine except that I cannot set Select Locked Cells which shows when you are using the Excel protect sheet interface but I cannot see how to set this to false using the library.
