How To Create Custom Language
Dec 13, 2009
So I know this will end up being a hard task, but I want to figure out how to do it. My language won't be outrageously sophisticated. Here is an example of what it'll do:
public.Block main()
def Tex01 as ImageFile =->file->load("C:userspicture.png")
Tex01->recolorable = true
[code].....

I am creating an application where the user inputs must be restricted. Of course, the MaskedTextBox control provides the basic functionality for this, allowing me to set up a fixed input-string length, include literals if desired, etc. However, in some instances the available input-character types (digits, alphanumeric, etc.) are not sufficient to provide the restriction I require.
For example, in one field the user enters a hexadecimal number, i.e., composed of only characters [0-9][A-F], but there is no option in the default masking language for that. It would be nice to be able to add a couple masking elements, such as H and h for required and optional hex digit respectively. For now, I just check the Text contents of the MaskedTextBox after each TextChanged event and warn the user/remove the offending character(s), but I would prefer to be able to customize the Mask.
Is there any straightforward (or even not straightforward) way to accomplish this? For example, by creating a custom MaskedTextProvider? If so, how would I go about it?

Im trying to create a program that translates english to another language. i have no clue how to begin doing this, i have the program designed and all of the buttons besides the "Translate" button coded...it has 2 radio button to choose which way you are translating, (English to german, or German to english) the input is a textbox, and the output is a label. and its going to be nothing more than a "replace this word with that word" kind of program. Im also going to connect to a database where the list of words will be held.

In need of some desperate help. Has anyone had any experience with a software product called Pres? The programme provides a function (userhook) that can run externally created dll's as the programme offers no COM support. The basic requirements for the dll are as follow.
1, The dll requires a public function named UserInstruction
2, The UserInstruction must have 5 parameters. The first and second of type long, the third a double array and the fourth and fifth parameters required type is a string.
This all seems pretty simple. But as .NET doesnt support exporting functions within a DLL to allow direct public access to the function through third party software it becomes tricky. After doing some research it seems as though this isn't possible in .NET. The only way I can see to do this is to convert the dll to Intermediate Language and play around with it once this is converted and then convert the IL code back to a DLL. I found this on the following site [URL]..After trying this when I try to use the DLL via Pres I am still getting no joy.

In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR & nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

With VB.net, I'm coding a simple application to get more used to the new .Net format.
I'd like to save all the information to a 'new' database file. how to create a database on the fly, once that is done i'll be able to connect to it no problem, but actually creating the file is proving difficult to work/find out.
Also, with vb.net and the newly created custom file, how can it be made to automatically open that information with the program?
Is there a method in installation to associate the file type with the new program? How can i check when the program loads if a database file has been 'double-clicked' (rather than just running from the .exe of the program) and proceed to load the data?
EDIT1 - Extra InfoThe windows application has many different fields and content etc, then i need to save that to a file that could later be loaded by 'double clicking'. I assumed the easiest way would be to create a mini-database for each unique file

I need two seperate lists, which every item is Integer, String, Bitmap - and one which every item is Integer, String String. However I don't know how to do this, or even where to look - I've googled for custom objects and custom object lists. What I'm trying to do is this.Custom Object1 is Integer, String, Bitmap Custom Object2 is Integer, String, String
In one thread I'll be adding items to List1(Of Object1), and processing them, and adding the results to List2(Of Object2), however I need to be able from other threads to look at the list and say only give me the items where Integer = (my thread ID), is this possible? Any help, or even links to information that would be relevant to this request would be helpful?

I have multilingual application that was done in VB2005.We recently had a request to translate the application to Arabic (Egypt), so I have been happily running through all of the forms and changing the layout for Right to Left format.I have 2 forms that are problematic though.On one form, whenever I select Arabic (Egypt), it will automatically switch the selection to Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and try to add an ar-SA resx file.On the other problematic form, if I choose Arabic (Egypt), the IDE will automatically select Chinese (People's Republic of China), then copy the contents of my ar-EG resx file into the zh-CN file, overwriting all of our Chinese translations and layout changes with the Arabic ones.

I'm creating an stock management application. At times I want to be able to search for a customer, location, or institution. I know how to do all of this, but what I really nee dot figure out is:How do I create/design a function that calls a form and has the user query information and then return that query's data, preferable datatable.Now, I've created the form that does all this and I have the dataTable but now I want to have a function that can call this "query form" and return that data.I was thinking I have to do something with multi-threading but maybe I'm just looking over something obvious. The best analogy of what I want to do is to create a custom dialog box, but obviously instead of returning a simple integer I'd be returning a dataTable.
