May 23, 2012Is there a way to determine if a Printer exists?I want to warn my users that a printer doesn't exist before they send reports to print.

Determine Whether Graphics Object Is For A Printer?
May 11, 2009We would like to know whether there is any way to interrogate a Graphics object and determine whether it is to be used to print or to render to some other canvas. We're aware of an API call that can be used but would prefer to avoid that route if possible. There's also the possibility of simply passing a flag in with the Graphics object that is True from a PrintPage event handler and False from elsewhere, but that's not ideal either. We're looking for a managed property or method accessible via the Graphics class itself, but nothing's jumping out.

Jan 7, 2009I wanted to create a login system that would have 3 tabs 1 for regular login, 1 for admin login and 1 for account creation. So far so good. It saves the accounts by saving them in a .urs file in the map called /Users/. However when this map does not exist it will show a error. I would want to know what code or so to put into the form_load which will make my program create the map /Users/ if it does not exist. As im not familiar with all the codes and stuff. The only thing i can come up with is
Mkdir "/Users/"
but then ofcourse it would create the folder users everytime i start the program. not i was still "Hello Worlding" a few days ago, so i really am unfamiliar with any sort of high-skilled programming which i probably dont understand.
Determine If URL Exists Without Requesting The File?
Jan 25, 2010I would like to check if a URL exists -- without requesting the file. The program needs to check if a PDF or Excel spreadsheet exists at a particular URL. If it does, it might want to download the file, but it should not download it every time.
I currently use the WebBrowser.Navigate method to do this, but it always downloads the file. But I don't want to actually download the .pdf or .xls file, I just want to determine if the URL exists.

3) create an instance of the form
4) show the form

Apr 27, 2012I am working with LINQ to XML in VB (although answers in C# are great, too). First off- my code works, so this is not critical. However, I can't help but think that what I'm doing with conditional logic should already be doable using the LINQ query itself. Here's what I've got:

Mar 18, 20111. Detect if my printer is busy, because my code tells the printer to print more pages that it can cope with, so I need to delay the command for 'Print the next page' until the printer has finished printing the previous one.
2. Shift the output to my printer so that it gets printed in it's entirety on the paper, instead of seemingly being anchored to some nebulous point on the A4 page. It starts printing at X = 29mm from the left edge, and Y is 28mm from the top, and stops at X = 22mm from the right edge and Y stops at 22mm from the bottom edge, leaving (aprox) 50mm of X and 50mm of Y unprinted.
3. Get useful information on Bounds, which I'm fairly certain is what I need to control where my printing should start and finish.
I've hunted through this forum, MSDN, 'Help' (a misnomer if ever there was one) the VB Library and one or two other forums, which either baffle me with reams of code or suggest code to try which either just don't work or which doesn't declare all the variables and usually don't suggest what type of variable I need, it's all very frustrating
