View 3 RepliesI want to create a simple page that allows our Admins to select all the users in a district and then create an Email in their Default Email Program for example Outlook so they can edit it from there. However, I just found out that the Mailto has a limit on the number of characters allowed. I am exceeding this limit.

Do multiline textboxes have a character limit?Someone who was using my program said that he has some textfiles that are about 50 KB and when he goes to copy/paste that data into a multiline textbox, he only gets about 31.9KB of the data.My MaxLength property says 32767, which basically matches the 31.9 KB, however, most of what I read on the internet says Multiline Textboxes can hold unlimited characters and that MaxLength is actually ignored when a textbox is in multiline mode.

I have a word (2003) document containing many Activex textboxes which are used to apply a character limit to the users input. Sometimes users want to paste data into the textbox from another source ks fine, but if they try to do it via the Edit menu then the textbox is deleted and replaced with the pasted text

The assignment is to create a program with 2 text boxes, label, and a button. We then need to type a phrase into the first text box, and a character in the second. Then click the button and then the label will display the output of how many times the character in the second text box appears in the first.
I have all the above setup except for how to display the amount of times the character appears in the first text box, here's a picture:
count the number of times when a user enters a character followed by , and I want to count , number of times. So far here is what I have if you also know a little about the split function can you check to see if what I have is right?

I am trying to count the number of times a specific character is in a string. The problem is when I run the program the letter doesn't advance from "d" in the string "debugging" and doesn't display the number of time the character "g" is found.

I want to enlarge an image, possibly up to 32 times or 64 times bigger than original dimensions (so that the user can see each pixel) if possible. The following is a simple function that I have to enlarge an image.

I have just started using vb.net and I have a checked list box with times throughout the day shown as
00:00 - 00:14
00:15 - 00:29
00:30 - 00:44
00:45 - 00:59
What I am trying to find is a way to get the current time and find which list item it fits into. What I think I need to do is to first of all get the current time and then go through the list splitting each item into 2 times and seeing if the current time fits. For example: Split the item 00:00 - 00:14 to 00:00 and 00:14 and then check if the current time is more than 00:00:00 but less than 00:14:59 and if so do certain task.how to go about taking each list item and splitting it into 2 separate times so I can check between them?
How do I write an expression to calculate all characters of each row by my own defined value to each character = all the A and B and C and etc. will be as 2 and all I and J and whatever ... will be 1 so I need an end result of the total.
View 3 RepliesI am working on a sub that essentially needs to open a text file, and replace all instances of a certain character with a unicode character. I'm trying to do this by reading the original text file byte by byte, converting it to a character, and then either adding that character to a memory stream or writing the unicode character to the memory stream. Then I'm saving the memory stream to the original file.

For each character of this string I want a new character out of the string and then remove the character from the list of characters that still maybe used for other characters. It may not get the same character, you could basically just call this encryption, but it's not what I am making. I don't want to waste my time doing this one hour while VB can do this for me in <1 second.
I am writing a hangman type game and I am displaying the word to the user in a label as all *'s, but I cannot figure out how to have just one of the *'s changed in the label to the correct letter when the user inputs the correct letter into the text box and clicks the check letter button.Everything else in the program works perfectly, except for this part.[code]When I use the .Replace it changes all of the *'s to the correct selected letter.

View 7 RepliesIn my VB.NET application I compare words that are recorded using IPA, many of which have many diacritic marks. In one of the comparisons, I compare the words character by character. But when I iterate over the characters, the diacritic marks come out as separate characters (as I would expect since this is unicode)However, a u character is different than a u plus an accent for the purposes of this program and needs to be distinguished.

I've been working with the substring command and after coding up all the things I needed it to do, I saw a post on here where the "For Each" statement was used basically to do the same thing.Lets say we just want to take a string apart one character at a time and add each character to a label.
