May 8, 2012I have this issue that occurs with me and driving me crazy i have a report that contains thousands of records and i need to export it to excel , but the excel normal extension .xls
is showing missing records at the end of the file , so i save my file as an .xlsx extension it saves correctly but when i open the file it generates an error
"Excel cannot open the file '<var>filename</var>.xlsx' because the file format for the file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file."but when i test the file i drag it and open it in an empty notepad all the records shows up correctly

Jul 25, 2010I've created a service and ran it successfuly after a valid installation. however when i try to debug the service (not the OnStart function but a timer function i created) i get the following error: "cannot start service from the command line or a debugger.A windows service...").

Excel Files Created In VB Are Invisible
Feb 21, 2011I create some files in VB.net from a master file but when I try to open the newly created file, Excel starts and nothing is displayed, you can see the outline of Excel and it's menus and nothing else. You can't do anything with excel except close the entire application. [Code] It is upon trying to re-open where it fails, outside of the VBE. I have not had a problem like this using VB6 before, so I am assuming I am doing or not doing something.

Unfortunately, the quality of the bitmap is rather bad, thus I would like to copy it as a Metafile. The copying works, but the retrieving will only return Nothing.

I have checked if the object is available in the clipboard using GetDataPresent and it shows that there is a metafile available. Still, it returns nothing.On a side note: Is there a way to avoid using the clipboard? After all I am creating the charts in .NET and I need them there as well. Add Custom Icons Created Outside Excel To Toolbars?
Feb 6, 2010I want to use icon files that reside outside of Excel on my Excel toolbars for macro buttons I have created (I don't want to use the customizing function within Excel, but rather, icons that have already been created). In some prior life, I have done this and have some neat-looking icons on the Excel that resides on my desktop. I don't know how I did it, but I know it's doable!
Alternatively, if someone could tell me how to copy over the customized Excel setup, that would work too. I tried copying over my "Book 1" file, but got a message about macro security and digital certificates.

why I get this error message because it doesn't occur normally if I open Form2 after closing Form1, it only occurs when I open Form2 after closing Form4.

i used it and it works fine then. but as it is mentioned its not a good practice to use it. So what should i do? is it ok if i use this as i am not able to use correct practice. Mine application is not for enterprise purpose. its just my class project, and it works fine even if i put application working in background. System works ok. I dont know how to correct this error.As i dont have that much knowlege of threads.

Run A .exe File From Inside A VS2010 Project?
Aug 22, 2011I am currently working on a school project in VS2010. I have added a .exe file in the project folder and added it to the Project as a 'Existing Item'. In Project Properties -> Publish -> Application Files the .exe file is shown.
The .exe file runs quite nicely when I use the Process.Start("C:\NameOfMyApplicationFolder\MyProgram.exe") hard code path to the .exe file. However, I am faced with two(2) challenges that I need to overcome. These are they:
1. If published on another machine the .exe file will not run as the hard code path to the .exe file will be different from that on my machine. Therefore I need a way to create a generic path to the .exe file. I have tried these [Process.Start("C:\|DataDirectory|\MyProgram.exe")] AND [Process.Start("Localhost\|DataDirectory|\MyProgram.exe")]; I got an error message that "The system cannot find the file specified".
2. I am putting the Process.Start("xxxxx.\MyProgram.exe") on a button click event. I also want to put the running of the .exe file between two(2) lines of code. The first line of code is basically asking "Do you wish to run the executable file" - YesNo. If 'Yes' is selected the .exe file is run. Here is the problem: When the .exe program is closed the second line of code is to be executed. I have gotten the .exe to run (using the hard code file path) when 'Yes' is selected, and the second line of code to execute if 'No' is selected, but I have not been successful in getting the second line of code to execute after closing the .exe program.
