C# - Using Types In A T4 Template That Exist In The Same Project As The Template?
Aug 4, 2010I'm working on my first T4 code generation tool to add some Stored Procedure helper code to my project. I've created custom types (e.g. StoredProcedure and StoredProcedureParameter to help with my code generation and have included the assembly and namespace references in my code:

<#@ assembly name="$(TargetPath)" #>

This allows me to use my custom types in my T4 template code. However, because my custom types exist in the same project as the T4 template code, I can't recompile my project once I run the template code without restarting Visual Studio. This isn't very much fun.
I read a great article that addresses this exact issue by using the T4 Toolbox, but it's not working. Either I'm implementing the VolatileAssembly directive wrong or the T4 toolbox simply didn't get installed. I'm not sure that the toolbox got installed correctly (I'm using VS 2010 on Win XP).
Any Way To Have Report Where All The Files In Project Are Actually Located?
Apr 19, 2012I will have people send me (a zipped archive of) an entire VB project and when I try to open it, I get a message that "The system cannot find the file specified" for one or more files. I have had them bring their laptop with the project on it, and it runs, but when I search the folder, I only see the files they sent me. Apparently sometimes files get stored (or moved) elsewhere and their system will track the locations, so their computer can find the files??? Really not sure how or why this is happening.Is there any way to have VB report where all the files in a project are actually located? There are so many files and so many folders in even a simple VB.net project that trying to track these down myself is very frustrating.

1- i add Project Setup Project for my Project for Visual Studio 2008 Deploy & setup Type Projects and make it with output option and detect dependices
2- i try make it with Setup Factory 8.2.1
3- i try with MSI Factory 2.0
4 i try with Setup Factory 6.0
and after making installer copying it to my test virtual Machine or my friend lap and install it i get this error when try to run my application :

Release Setup Project / Setup
Feb 27, 2009I've finally got a project compiled and tested and ready to roll out.I have discovered that the "Publish" option is not what it seems, and that we must create a separate "Setup Project" to carry out the task of installing the files.This is not the most intuitive process I've seen, and the online help on that subject is not easy to understand.I was hoping that someone could direct me to a tutorial or guide that would step me through the specific approach I need. Many of the other guides online are vague and address multiple scenarios and do not separate the approaches very well.I have the contents of my project in /bin/release. It runs nicely by iteself with no errors.Here's what I need:
1. To create a setup exe that I can distribute that will install my software, with all of the supporting (resource) files and folders.
2. I need the setup process to force the installer to "agree" to a EULA.
3. I'd would like to provide an image on the installation screen/popup.
4. I would like the software registered in the registry and rely on it being there in the registry.
5. I need it to default to program filesprojectname (it does by default)
Project Missing From Project Output Group During SetUp?
Nov 12, 2009I new to this Forum and relatively new to VB programming. I have read some really good posts here and thought I would ask about a perplexing problem I'm having. I createdindows Form application, built it and deployed it with no problems. However, when I added a small block of code, re-built the app and went to add the app to the Project Output Group in the file system editor the project was not in the Project drop down list. I closed the Setup project and deleted it from the project folder and checked my code and re-built the app and tried the Set Up project again with the same result

Apr 3, 2010After installing Monobjc and playing around with the Monobjc Application Project under C# in MonoDevelop, I noticed that there is only an empty Monobjc project under the VB section.
Obviously this template adds all the correct references but doesn't add the basic files for the application to run. I've tried creating a class with:

Also if I add in a xib file from IB, how do I generate the designer code for the partial AppDelegate class?
Visual Basic COM Project Template?

Now that I'm back, I tried finding that template in my installation of VS2008 with no luck. Does anybody know where I can find that template, or failing that, what it might be doing to achieve its effect?

Jun 17, 2010I am trying to write an add-in into the SSMS 2008 R2 IDE. I believe it is possible, though maybe not fully supported by Microsoft. I have created a new project in Visual Studio 2010 of type Extensibility - Visual Studio Add-in. This has created my project and all of the relevant code to get the add-in loaded onto the Tools menu. The only line of code I have added is in the OnConnection method to display a messagebox so I know it has at least loaded.
When I build this as is, it will load as an Add-in into VS 2010 onto the Tools menu - which is fine - at least part is working. But when I try to add this as an Add-in into SSMS 2008 it keeps giving me the error message:The Add-in 'DataFollower.Connect' failed to load or cause an exception. Would you like to remove this add-in? ... Error Message: No such interface supported.
Below is a top half of the code in question. This code was created directly from the VS Add-in template - nothing has been altered. The error occurs on the line:

This is running on a Windows 7 64bit machine, SQL 2008 R2 64bit and VS 2010.
