I'm working on a project which involves communications with a remote device via a modem. Communication is accomplished via HEX commands. However, with my code below, I am not receiving zeros where they are meant to be.For example, a test file contains the following HEX:
010203040506070809
However, I am only receiving this:
123456789
The zeros are critical.
Private Sub receive_data(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.IO.Ports.SerialDataReceivedEventArgs) Handles SerialPort1.DataReceived
Dim buff As String
Dim i As Short
I've been developing an export program which generate a csv file.
Column_A, Column_B, Column_C 00014, Sample, test
Now upon this data is viewed in csv the trailing zero from column_A is gone. it becomes 14.I revise the writing of data from Column_A which if the start of it is zero i insert a single quote. Upon viewing it in csv i got a '00014 which single quote is visible. how can i remove this single quote? which i expected to view it 00014 only in csv file.
I have a controller board that is built by us that sends strings to the serial port based on inputs that it receives. The app we are working on seems to be receiving the data fine but it is displaying it in an odd way and I'm sure it is a simple problem I am overlooking. Here is the incoming code so far:
Private Sub SecuritySerialPort_DataReceived(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.IO.Ports.SerialDataReceivedEventArgs) Handles SecuritySerialPort.DataReceived ReceivedText(SecuritySerialPort.ReadExisting()) 'Automatically called every time a data
I am receiving RS-232 data from serialPort1.Readbyte and want to display the incoming data on a textbox on a form. This causes a "...cross thread..." error.
I want to create an application in VB.net that will read data outputted by a RFID reader on serial port.I want to know how will my application be able to identify the interrupt generated by Serial port and will read data from there?
I am having problem receiving data from serial port. Btw, I am new to Visual studio 2010 too.
I do a test program on my PIC so that when button1 press, it will send character "Y" to visual studio; when button2 press, it will send character "N" to visual studio. I know for VS 2010, sending data out is by the command
I am working on a project to receive and send data to a micro controller using a Visual Basic application. I am using Visual Studio 2008. I have done coding to send data on button click event.
But I am stuck at how to receive incoming data to serial port continually from MCU and store it to an integer or string type data in VB.
I have an application that receives incoming data from a Radio Equipment through a hardware modem. How can I replace the hardware modem? Could I use the PC Sound Card in place of the modem?
I need to trim everything preceding the last / in a string. for example if the string were "C:FilesNewprogram.exe" all I want is the "program.exe portion.
Sometimes when backing up an sql file using phpmyadmin (database stuff), for some reason it forgets to double up a single quote, resulting in an error when loading the sql file back into the database when required. A line in such an sql file looks like this;[code]As shown in the example, phpmyadmin did double up the quote in "you're" as it should, but it forgot to double up the one after "27", resulting in an error.As you can see it's like this (*value*, *'value'*, (and so on) but beforehand I can;
A) Never know how many values are in such a string B) Can't simply split the values by "," because the value itself can hold a comma aswel.
It would be easy if every value was like this; *'value'* because then I could split by " ', ' " but that's not the case, and I also never know what location the values not enclosed in single quotes are. I also can't simply double up all single quotes in the entire string because then it will also double up the ones that are enclosing the values, resulting in an error during upload again. So yeah, what I need to get done is single out all the values with regex ($1, $2 etc.) and then string.replace single quotes in those values but *only* if said single quote is not preceeded or followed by another single quote, else it would become a tripple quote resulting in an error again.
Im using HtmlAgilityPack/HAP so that I can use Xpath with HTML documents.selecting the preceding-sibling of div class="address" in this url[url].....The sibling that I want is h3 class="listingTitleLine" Here is a screenshot:
I am working with a .csv file that is generated from a Java-based application. It mainly contains contact information. I can see the data when I open it in Notepad, Excel, and Access. However, when I attempt to read the data file in using the following code, I get blank data. I accidentally discovered that if I open the .csv in Excel and then save the file, my program will read it in perfectly.

what is the fasted way to get all the rows from table1 that aren't in table2? i have over 4000 rows in table1, i am currently looping through using:
for each dr as datarow in dt1.rows then i check table2 to see if that entry exists using: dim rows() as datarow = dt2.select("EmployeID = " & dr!EmployeeID) if rows.length > 0 then it exists in both tables - dont need it
other wise i copy the row into a third table which ends up being my final collection of rows that are in table1 and not in table2. this takes a really long time. is there a better, faster way that isn't too complicated?
If you are creating a new adapter, drag a data adapter object from the Toolbox onto a form or component.
I cannot find Data Adapter object anywhere in the toolbox. I assume it would be under the Data grouping, but it is no where.I also "Reset ToolBox" and it is still not there.
I have manage to take print of the contents of datagrid but now i have one problem when i click on print button it prints the document very fine but The headings of the all columns is not printing here is my code what changes should i made to resolve the issue here is my print class

In Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition Version 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) and Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0.50727.
Right Click Toolbox--Choose Item--.NET Framework Components--Check on OracleConnection and OracleDataAdapter--Ok
Now double click OracleDataAdapter1 in the toolbox.Data Adapter Configure Wizard appears. Click on New connection.Add Connection dialoge box appears.Click on change.Change Data Source dialogue box appears. Here i am getting only 2 items:
1.Microsoft Access Database File 2.Microsoft SQL Server Database File
And in Data Provider combo box; only ".Net Framework Data Provider for SQL Server".I am not able to configure my OracleDataAdapter1 control by choosing above method.Machine have Oracle 10G Client and Server well installed. I am able to use Dim oda As New System.Data.OracleClient.OracleDataAdapter() and it is working fine; but i wish to configure oracledataadapter by using above method. Moreover, it is possible for me to configure oracledataadapter in Web Developer 2005 by above metohd, but not in VB.NET.
I am developing a software that catches streaming data. Unfortunately, there is no pattern or sequence on how this data comes in. So what I have initially done is to catch then write to my MS Access DB. Unfortunately, while writing to the DB, I am missing some data that is streaming since writing takes a little bit of time before it goes back to the catching syntax.
I am planning to multithread the DB writing then just call it from my main program. Do guys know any website/tutorial where I can learn the basics for multithreading? I am using Visual Studio 2010. Or if ever, does any one of you have a sample program where I can just learn from?
i am just developing a library management system as one of my project. i using vb.net 2010 and the MS Access 2007 as back end. when i save some records into my database through my application it is correctly saved and i confirmed it through opening the relevant table in the database. but when i restart the application all the entered data were missing.
I have a Client/ server application where the Server is in java and Client is in Vb.net.When i send large string from client to server am not receiving complete text.code attached below.
client-- VB.net- Try Dim clientSocket As New System.Net.Sockets.TcpClient()
I'm trying to add a computed column to a datatable that references another column in the datatable. Sometimes the computed column has a mathematical operation applied to it, but in this case I'm just referencing the original column. The code looks like the following:
The code isn't actually hard coded as shown above - there are functions that return the values for the first and third parameters - but I checked those and they are returning the expected values and not generating any errors themselves.
The error is thrown when the .Add method is called, and the error states "Syntax error: Missing operand after '_1' operator." It seems to me that it doesn't like the column name, which I suppose I could change and just workaround it at the presentation level. Still, I'm curious. Is this a bug in the .net framework or something? It doesn't mind "1_1" as a column name in the datatable, so why is it having a problem with it in the expression statement?
I have a masked textbox formatted as "##:##:##:##". When I send the variables to it if the number is <10 I don't get the leading zero displayed. For example:[code[What I want it to look like is 00:01:02:03, what I get is 00:12:3. I've tried the variables as an integer and a string with no luck.
Im having a little problem with adding textbox.Im generating unique key with OrderNumber+ProductId+Series.
OrderNumber:18501 ProductId:2100 SeriesNumber:01
Series starts at "01" and gets added one everytime I hit button1,so next time I press button1,it will be "02".When I add them up this is the result I get: Result:18501-2100-1
But I want the result to be like this: Result:18501-2100-01
I want the series number to be a two digit value. How can I make this happen?Do I look
I need to know the proper way, or maybe I should say, the different ways to call another form from a parent or preceding form. I am currently using ex: formname.showdialog() to call my next form, but I am uncertain if I should be using that in every situation. [code] Whats the difference between these different methods? (ex: .showdialog() , .show() )I tried both of these to open a temporary form to retrieve a persons name from a database, so as the users progresses through my training program they can keep track of their scores. But, I also call other forms as I branch through my program, from the main page, to a secondary page, to a testing page, to a results page and then back to the secondary page
